Macbook 10.4.9 - Louder speakers?

Has anyone noticed that the speakers on their Macbook have gotten louder after they installed the 10.4.9 update?

Interesting... I recently switched from a CD MacBook to a C2D MacBook and noticed that the C2D MacBook was noticeably louder than all of my other 1st gen CD MacBook's.
I'll have to check my wife's CD MacBook to see if heres is louder.

  • Can I replace my current internal speakers with louder speakers?

I have a Macbook Pro Mid 2009, the speakers aren't loud enough and I'd like to replace them with louder ones. Is this possible?
I downloaded some software which did make the speakers louder but the sound was distorted so I stopped using it (it would probably have damaged them IMO).
    Thanks.

No.  Use external speakers or output sound to an external HiFi and you can go as loud as the external system lets you.

If you see a red light in the audio output port, then the internal switch is stuck.  Insert the earphone plug a few times and see if you can trip the switch.  If that fails, insert a cocktail stirrer and the like and jiggle it around inside.  If that fails, take it to an Apple store and have the technicians at the genius bar do it for you.

  • HT1338 My macbook air got some loud noise

Just recently my macbook air got a loud noise when i plug in my cable. the fan sound is very loud and i just purchase my macbook recently, may i know what issue is that?

When you think about it, you'll have to agree that with this "description" we can't do much - other than advising you to "turn all sounds off"...
So, a better explanation of what type of noise and possibly in what situation it occured would be absolutely necessary.

  • Speakers on my macbook pro are too low, speakers on my macbook pro are too low

Listening to music, watching DVD's or movies on ITunes, the volumne is too low.  Can I make it louder?   It is already set as high as it could go.

Yes, I could use more volume myself sometimes. The speakers are not big enough on MacBooks for larger volumes... more might blow the speakers and there would be no chance of any quality sound. Make sure the volume is up on the apps. and websites you use. Earphones are perfect for me and sound way better then the baby speakers.  Or try Grant's suggestion.

  • How do i get my macbook to play music louder

    Hey there
I have a standard macbook. How can I get it to go louder? I have Itunes turned up as well as the mail sound setting. Any ideas?
    Dennis

The internal speakers are limited on how loud they get due to the size. The mail sound setting doesn't have anything to do with iTunes. Check sound under system preferences and see that the output is turned up all the way.

  • Macbook Pro, gaming, and loud fan noise!

I have just started to install some Intel-based games on my Macbook Pro, and I've noticed that the fan noise increases dramatically when playing any type of game. I realize that an increase in CPU usage will cause the computer to increase the fan speed, but do you guys experience this with all games? I love the fact that my Macbook Pro is so quiet all the time, and it bothers me that the computer sounds like it is going to "take off" whenever I play games. It almost sounds like the computer is about to explode!

it's very normal. my fan rotates at around 6200 RPM and MBP makes noise while playing UT2004. If you use headphones or subwoofers/speakers during gaming, the noise wouldn't be audible anyways. It's not like you are supposed to listen to MBP's games instead of in-game audio during playing games. Also, both ps3 and xbox360 makes noise louder than MBP during processor-intensive operations. I had a ps3 for 8 months. So I know

  • White Macbook (mid 2006) Runs loud and very hot,  battery not charging

I know my Macbook is getting a bit old now, but I don't think the way it is running is very normal.
The battery will say that it is fully charged, but it will only last about half an hour when disconnected from the charger. The light on the charger will not come on either, or it will blink when i attach it, then stay out.
My Macbook will also run very loudly, and hot. I don't ever run too many programs at once, so I know that it's not a strain on the system from what I can tell.
I tried resetting the SMC since it sounded like the problems I am having would be solved by resetting it.
Are there any known problems such as these, or fixes? Thanks.

    Battery Information:
    Model Information:
    Serial Number: DP-ASMB013-369a-7799

    PCB Lot Code: 0000

    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 2225
    Fully charged: Yes
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 2268
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 381
    Condition: Poor
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 0

And it's not running very hot right now, I'm doing a quick check on email and such before work. I'll get that info about processes later on today.

  • Macbook pro fan making loud noises and going really fast. Now the fan doesn't work at all and my computer gets extremely hot almost instantly. Is there a way to fix it without having to pay a ton of money to have someone fix it for me?

I've had my Macbook pro for about 3 1/2 years now. It has worked great until recently. A few months ago I noticed that the fan would always run really fast when I was doing simple tasks. After a few weeks/months, the fan was still really fast but it also started to make these loud noises. Now, it only occasionally makes the loud noise if I move my computer after its been stationary for a while. The fan no longer works at all and my computer gets exceptionally hot almost instantly when I turn it on. Is there a way to fix this problem without having to pay a ton of money to have someone fix it for me?

You can try a SMC reset:

  • ITunes on MacBook Pro: Option for "kitchen" speakers vanished

Posted earlier in iTunes forum. Not answered. Suggested I post here.
It used to be, when running iTunes, I had an option bottom right for which speakers iTunes would come out of:
    • on MacBook Pro
    • in "kitchen" (through Airport)
    • both
Then, "suddenly," that option wasn't there anymore. The only (possible) change is the most recent Apple Update to OS X 10.5.2.
I've already gone into iTunes Preferences and made sure my MacBook Pro is searching for other speakers. I've already disconnected and shut down, then restarted router and Airport. No change.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Cat

Yesterday's Apple Update fixed the problem. Just as "mysteriously" the option to choose the "kitchen" speakers reappeared.

  • New Retina Macbook pro 15 Haswell loud fan?

I'm running a brand new 15" 2.3ghz 16gb, 500HD (of course shipped with Mavericks), anyway this sucker is LOUD, the fan fires up every time I do a photo import with Lightroom 5. My room-temperature is average and it's sitting on a cool table. I ran diagnostics and apparently there are no issues. Once the import is complete the fan shuts off after a minute or so. This is my first mac so maybe this is typical but I wasn't expecting an average task to push this power-horse and fire up it's fan so easily...... Love the machine otherwise.....

After a lot of frustration going to Geniuses, begging to go to level 2 tech support, and even calling on my Joint Venture membership Genius privileges, I had just returned the notebook for a new one, as I was in the 14-day return period.
My new MacBook Pro still experiences this issue, but it is not as intense or as troublesome.
That Apple has not discovered this issue makes me wonder how they test their computers. One would have thought that this would have been discovered long ago and dealt with in the latest software update.
My two MacBook Pro Retinas, MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac Mini ALL run harder, louder, and slower in Mavericks under the simplest tasks.
Again, the easiest test is to move a file from A to B, from the desktop to a folder.
This issue did not appear in Mountain Lion.
As my JV rep said, "When you buy a Ferrari, you expect it to drive like one."

  • Hooking my MacBook Pro up to external speakers

Hey guys, let me explain my setup.
I'm using an old Sony DVD player to play my CD's. The DVD player is connected to my receiver via red and white audio cables.
The receiver is an Onkyo that allows me to use 2 types of inputs: the red and white audio cables and the traditional speaker wire.
I have 4 speakers connected to the receiver via speaker wire.
Is there any way to hook my MacBook Pro up to the receiver so I can play my iTunes music on my home stereo?
Hope that wasn't too confusing, and thanks.

    I have this exact cable.. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/PureAV-RCA-Audio-Cable-6-AV20300-06/sem/rpsm/oid/ 116033/catOid/-12930/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
    It works great!
P.S. I also use it on my Onkyo receiver

  • My 2008 Macbook Pro makes a loud fan noise.

    Hello -
I bought my 15" macbook pro back in October 2008. I was very happy with my purchase due to the machine's performance. But over the past year I have noticed an increase in the fan noise. It almost sounds like it's hitting against something at a very high speed, hense this irregular fan noise. The noise also increases drastically when I am working on Photoshop or InDesign. I also partitioned my hard-drive to hold windows so I can work on AutoCad.....noise increases also as I work on my machine.
Why is this happening? Could this loud fan noise damage any internal component to the machine? Should I bring it in to Apple immediately?
    Thank you!

Some of the applications that you mention are somewhat CPU intensive which creates heat and results in fan speed increase and hence additional noise (to state the obvious).  However if you are experiencing excessive noise when CPU loads are modest it could be that your fans are failing as all mechanical devices eventually will or you may have 'schmutz' inside that is the cause of the unwanted noise.
I suggest you open the MBP and see if there is any dust in the fans that may very well be affecting their performance.  After 4 years, this is not an uncommon situation and it could be the solution to the problem.
If not, then you may consider getting replacements from iFixit or Powerbook Medic and replace them your self.  It is not rocket science in this instance.  If you suffer from chronic fingerfumbilitis, then have the Apple store do it for you.
    Ciao.

  • MacBook fan running very loudly

I have been having issues with my MacBook overheating and causing the fan to run very loudly (so loudly I can't listen to music or watch videos on it very well). I have had the motherboard replaced twice this year alone by Apple and I still have coverage till November of this year. They told me if I keep it on a flat surface (like a desk), the problem shouldn't keep happening. More times than none, I only have one application running like Safari or Firefox with only one page open and still the computer is incredibly loud. Any suggestions? I really do not want to take it out to a retail store again unless I can get a new MacBook out of it since it'll be the third time the motherboard has been replaced.
