Macbook, 10.4 and Epson R320 printer

I recently bought a Macbook, OS 10.4 and have an Epson Stylus Photo R320 for my G3. I want to be able to connect the printer to the Macbook. The printer requires an adapter in order to do this and, so far, I haven't been able to find the adapter or get a proper answer from the places I cheked. After 20 minutes on the phone with Epson TS the final answer was that they don't have the item.
I called Belkin, talked to three people who couldn't speak English (the technical support must be in India) and when I finally got tired of holding on for yet another wrong answer I sent them an e-mail, which they haven't respond to yet.
Could somebody help me find the right adapter, what it should be, and where to buy it.
I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks

If you are trying to connect through Bluetooth, Epson made an adapter but apparently it is discontinued. It is item No. C12C824142. You might try finding one through Ebay.
Otherwise you should be able to connect with a USB cable, the same one that goes to your G3. If you are networked to the G3, you could share the printer on that computer, so that you could print to it from the Macbook. There are also wireless print servers that could do the job, too.

I use a macbook, apple airport and epson printer. After several printer jobs, I get a message "printer offline". I have tried restarting computer. restarting printer and still cannot connect, I can print directly with a USB cable. How can I connect to my printer via the airport?

Delete the printer in System Preferences and re-add it. You may also want to restart the Airport.

  • Barbara Brundage, can you help with PS Elements 11 and Epson R2000 printer issue?

Seeking help with PS Elements 11 which does not work with Epson r2000 printer.  Epson tech support could not fix, said it is PS e11 problem.  Receive prompt on PS e11 screen when I try to print stating "not compatible or settings are not correct.  Have set PS to manage color and printer manages color to off.  Would appreciate any suggestions.  Thank you.

    Hi,
Sincerely appreciate your help.  Running Windows 7 on a  Dell XPS420.  System has been very stable for years.  Before purchasing the Epson r2000, I owned an r1800 which was an excellent printer but after seven years started to exhibit paper feed problems.  The r1800 worked with all applications and I was well satisfied with the saturation, contrast, etc. printing mostly 8x10 and 11x17 prints.
Thank you for the information about the # of installs for PS E11, will try uninstall/reinstall this morning.
Will let you know how things go.

  • Printing Problem with Epson R320 (Print CD)

Problem: I cannot print using Print CD with a new Epson Stylus Photo R320, however I can print from applications using the gimp beta driver provided in OS software, via <Print Using> dialogue box.
    Power Mac G4 dual 450, running 10.4.6.
After phoning Epson, I downloaded the needed driver from Epson and went through the installation process with an Epson tech. However I cannot seem to access this driver in the print utility. The Printer Setup Utility is forcing me to choose a “gimp” driver. Some discussions on this site suggest choosing just Epson usb—the question is how with the way the dialogue boxes are configured in Printer Setup Utility. The problem seems to be I am unable to access the driver through the <Print Using> menu in the utility. If I select more printers, (after highlighting the R320) this causes the print utility to crash.
I have repaired permissions, reset the printer setup, uninstalled, reinstalled; actually I have done everything I could find to do. The problem seems so simple. I easily created my CD label; now I would just like to print it!! Any ideas from all the pros on this list. Thank you.

I have an Epson R320 and have communication problems. You start the job and after about 5 seconds you get a ! in the dock on the printer icon and on opening you see "job stopped".
I am no expert but it seems to me that the program e.g.MYOB accounting fails to pass the data to OSX.
If I de install and reinstall the epson drivers and repair permission it will work ...but then the next day on re-booting we are back to the same state of not working.
I have informed Epson and am waiting for a reply. The epson printer tests and standalone mode works. OSX problem?

  • Color Management, Photoshop CS3 and Epson Inkjet Printer

I have been down this road before but here goes again...
    Im using Photoshop CS3.
Im printing on an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 using Photo quality inkjet paper.
I know this printer is capable of very good quality prints.
Thing is I can not figure out the correct combination of color management settings to get a decent print out of Photoshop or InDesign.
I have read that you are supposed to turn off all printer color management and let Adobe manage the color. Doesnt seem to work.
I just get overly magenta images that look awful.
If I let the Epson color management control color I can get a lot closer but the print out is far from accurate or high quality.
So what the heck IS the correct protocol for printing to an Epson inkjet printer from an Adobe app.
BTW, I do seem to get a fairly decent print out of something like a PDF which I understand does its own postscript conversion before hitting the printer.
Is this what my issue is?
Does Photoshop or InDesign require postscript ripper software to get decent results out of an inkjet printer?

Have spent hours with both Adobe and Epson support people. I've read several of these forums. Is there an insurmountable problem with CS3 and Epson (2200/2400 are mine)? I have the Leopard patches and upgrade 10.5.4.
With Photoshop managing the color I get prints that are slightly underexposed and carry a pink cast. Color management is off. With the printer managing the color I get prints that are too green and dark. Epson advice here is to have color management off. There are two other choices for management but to adjust a perfectly balanced print to the printer's whim seem like cruel punishment.
Have a calibrated monitor and my CS2 works beautifully. Perhaps the best idea is to just go back to CS2 until Adobe and Epson can decide what to do. According to Adobe people, the CS3 gives much of the management back to Epson. According to Epson -- with CS3, you should choose the printer to manage the color (since this seems to be the trend between the two companies) but we users are not happy with the results.
What is the solution for right now?

  • Brother MFC 5100C and Epson R320 recognized but no driver installed

Hum, I'm spoofed and apprently I'm not the only one.
The overkill MFC ControlCenter2 is installed and can scan from the Brother MFC however in the System Preferences/Print&Fax/Set Up Printers, I don't see them. I see another HP printer I use to help out.
I've reinstalled both latest drivers from Brother and Epson but when I don['t see it in the list and try to add it using USB on Auto Slect (which is grayed out) it says looking for drivers and returns nothing leaving me with only Cancel as an option.
What am I doing wrong? Is this a question of uninstalling all Brother and Epson stuff and reinstalling? Can anyone tell me which folders to look into?
    Much appreciate any help.
    Nick

Thanks Greg, I tried your excellent recommendation. It didnt repair the Epson USB feature that Epson asked me to remove. Yes, I'm a dork for not backing up a copy. I thought it would be easy to find an updated one.
Still no go. Epson is trying to help me also.
I can't believe I am having pprinting problems with my Mac. It's like the nightmares of Windows printing all over again. I'm pretty shocked I am haing problems printing on an Epson nder OSX.3.9.
Thanks for your ideas and hints. IF anyone has any ideas also.

  • Adobe CS6/CC and Epson 9900 printer issue

Today I spent about 3 hours trying to print a larger image off an Epson 9900 with no luck. It seemed that no matter how I oriented the image or altered the settings in the printer driver window on the computer, the printer would always start printing from the corner opposite the actual beginning and only print about 2/3rds the length of the image. The print was on a 44" wide space, 32" long with the image centered and measuring 34"x28" in size. Once the file was sent the printer, it would begin to print in the proper margin, but stop the print around 27" instead of 34" and from the wrong corner.
Anyone know why? I think it might be an issue with the latest upgrade as this did not happen a month ago when I printed it the first time and when I plugged in my personal computer, which hasn't been updated yet, it began to print the image without any complications.

Sorry, I was in Photoshop trying to print an image.

  • Os x 10.6.8 and Epson r2400 printer

    Hey
I´ve jut opgraded to 10.6.8 and now will add my epson photo stylus R2400.
newest driver is downloaded but it will not work, eny solutions?

Is the printer attached to your Mac with a USB cable or is your Mac trying to reach it some other way, as over a network?  Did you try the "repair" procedure described in the article I cited?  Have you installed the Epson driver update that Apple released recently?

  • CS4 and EPSON R2880 Printing Problems

I am having a very difficult time getting color matched prints with CS4 and my R2880 Epson printer. I had no issues with CS3. I have tried every combination available to me and I get very drab almost browinsh prints. I have the latest drivers and also have upgraded to Vista, no change there at all. I am using the proper ICC profiles as well. Anyone else with similar problems? Any solutions? It is very frustrating. Thanks, Bob

I have an Epson R280 on my desk and just did a test printing the same image with CS4/Vista64, CS4/XP, and again with CS3/XP. All three prints used the Epson supplied paper profile and the colour management settings were all set the same.
    The results are identical.
    I suspect there's a wrong setting somewhere:
    - wrong profile being used
    - not disabling printer colour management
    - wrong paper setting or printing on the wrong side of the paper
I can't imagine why the results would be any different from one version of PS to another.

  • Airport Extreme no longer see's Epson R320 Printer

All of a sudden i cannot print through Airport, i have to plug into USB port on my Mac Pro. If I try to print over the network its shows my printer offline.
    Any ideas.

I tried adding the printer and configuring it with DHCP.  It DID then show up as a DHCP client, but the printer still wouldn't print documents sent via airport's ethernet port.  Finally gave up (until Apple fixes the firmware upgrade that caused this in the first place). Didn't really WANT TO, but I hooked the printer up using its USB port connected to the hub attached to the airport's USB port (the printer's network server supports parallel, USB, and ethernet), and it's working.  Only bad thing is that I exceeded USB 2.0's 16 ft limit by adding a 10 ft extention.  I suppose the powered hub is what allowed me to go 26 ft.
I had hoped that I could back out the last firmware upgrade, so went to Genius bar to find out how to do it.  Unfortunately, I was told there is no mechanism to back out an airport firmware upgrade.
So, for now I'm relying on a USB connection through the Airport Extreme (and the powered hub) to get wireless access to the printer.  Hopefully, someone at Apple will realize the mistake they made and fix it sometime in the future and I'll be able to go back to using one of the Airport's ethernet ports.

  • Prinitng issue with CS5 and Epson pro3800 printer

CS5 will not hold printer driver settings after leaving driver setup screen. Eg., after setting ICM and choosing Adobe RGB color space and icc profile from menu, when you click OK, Adobe screen reverts to Photoshop adjusts colors and not printer adjust colors as it should. If you change the setting manually, when you renetr driver setup, it now shows 'no color management and not ICM as it should. This does not occur with CS3 or 4. Any help is appreciated.

I don't have this problem but i can tell you printing out of CS5 is a mess nothing works the way it should....check out my forum i started... right now i just chucked cs5 and went back to cs3

  • Print quality with Aperture and Epson RX580

    Hi all,
I feel like I've tried everything, but I just can't get Aperture (the latest version with all the updates) to print from my MacBook Pro on my Epson photo printer the way I could from other photo software on my old PCs.  On my old PCs, when I would print a photo from Canon DPP or Capture One, or even the Windows photo management software, I get a rich menu of dialogue boxes for the Epson printer offering different qualities of prints, different papers to choose from, "photo enhancement," and lots of other options.  Prints came out sharp, colorful, and just great.
When I print from Aperture, I get none of these options (I get color management and resolution, and that's about it).
When I print from Aperture, I get vertical lines in the prints, visible dots, and pixellation.  So what I do is email the "exported" versions to my daughter's PC laptop and print from there -- and get good results.  Boy, that's a pain.
Surely Aperture can do better than this.  So what am I missing?  Any ideas for what I should be doing?
    Thank you.

Canon MP990 and Macbook pro (os X snow lep.. and Lion) - Lines in prints in Aperture.
While a bit vague I got there and found the distinction between the printer driver managing it and the printer managing the photo quality causing the issues.
I could only transfer the pic's to iphoto and print for ( admitedly about the same time of more than a year).
    The FIX
in the first window after selecting print scroll down to rendering and select printer managed.
Select all the other settings you need then select print on the right bottom of this window.
This next dialogue box at the bottom is a show details button then a new set of menus are present (initial is layout in a pull down menu)  select color matching then automatic ( you can change this but it worked so if it is not broken I'll play later ).
You should have clear prints with no lines...

  • Epson R320, Airport Express & 10.4

Can anyone confirm if an Epson R320 printer will work with Airport Express using Mac OS 10.4? I currently have a Canon i850 that worked pre-Tiger, but pos-Tiger it hasn't worked at all . I want to be able to connect it to my Airport Express so that I can print wirelessly from either my PowerBook or my wife's PC laptop.
    Thanks .

    Henry,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if the site you gave applies to Mac OS 10.4 though - my current printer, a Canon i850, is listed as compatible, and while it worked fine under 10.3, it stopped working as soon as I put 10.4 on, apparently it's a known Canon issue .
