Macbook 10.5.8 restarts after left alone for some time
If I leave my MacBook alone for 30 + minutes it starts closing Apps and restarts. If I have something unsaved that prevents Logout from occuring.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
My laptop is plugged into a power source and all Power Saver settings are set to Never.
RAM is 2GB
Free Disk space is over 80GB
This has happened since I purchased 2 years ago.
Please let me know if I am leaving out any helpful info.

[SOLVED] Getting freezes after using dwm for some time and exiting it
Hello, I have an Asus Ux51, with a fresh (less than a month) arch installation. If I recall correctly I had a couple of freezes in other occasions but I don't remember much about those so I rather focus on the only freeze I can more or less reproduce and I've been having lately. After using dwm for some time with a couple of programs opened (rTorrent, browser, and some terminals for instance), if I close dwm or just press the power button to shut down, it starts closing everything and either stays with a black screen, or hangs while X prints the log information. It's not always though, for example, if I just boot it, open dwm and close it without giving it much use it usually closes fine.
Tried googling a bit to see the usual ways to troubleshoot this but didn't get really far.

Found this recent thread in the forums, I'll give REISUB a try late, but the times it freezed I remember trying to blindly reboot it, or switching off virtual console and couldn't.
In case it's of any use, this is my # uname -a

Could it have something to do with the nvidia optimus setup that this laptop has? When installing arch I found out that there was no support yet for it so I'm just using the intel drivers (following what the arch wiki said).

Last edited by contiver (2013-08-16 20:25:34)I don't start st in my .xinitrc. I launch it from dmenu and usually everything is fine. If I launch it from dwm's internal command using Alt-Shf-Return, X freezes 100% of the time. A workaround was suggested by st's main developer to call st like this:

IPod suddenly starts playing after being inactive for some time
After using my iPod I press the play/pause button and keep it pressed for some seconds to turn the iPod off.
Some hours later -I don't know exactly how long since this usually occurs overnight- the iPod starts playing music!!!
Am I missing something when turning the iPod off?
Does someone have the same problem?
If so, have you been able to fix it?Is this happening all the time? because i sort of had the same problem..for some unknown reason to me, my iPod kept turning on every morning, and i couldn't find out why. Then i realised i had set the alarm thing on my iPod to 9am every morning, months ago! it could be your alarm setting, otherwise i have no idea! hope i helped!

A reboot will fix it for a while. This does not happen in Xfce or Gnome. Hitting the suspend button works.

MacBook Pro loses airport connection if left alone for a while
Hi Everyone,
Everytime I walk away from my MBP, I come back only to find out that I no longer have any bars on my airport icon in the menu bar. I have tried moving airport to the top and unchecking the other options in the network preferences. This happens to me at home with an airport express, as well as here at work with a 3rd party wireless router. It's not a big deal, but it is somewhat of a tedious chore.
Any other suggestions?

Error -1074360293 (IMAQdx Timeout) after running acquisition for some time
My vision application in LabVIEW does several acquisitions and processings successful but then the acquisition (grab) suddenly fails with a timeout error (-1074360293, IMAQdx: Timeout). The error does not happen when only acquiring the images.
After the error happened no acquisition is possible. Even when LabVIEW is closed MAX returns a timeout error. Only rebooting helps.
some Hardware Details:
3 FireWire Controllers (1394a)
3 Cameras connected to the first two controllers, one to the third (7 cameras total)
Mode for all cameras: 1280 x 960 Mono 8 7.50 fps
The bandwidth for a FireWire controller is sufficient. (Three cameras on one controller run without any problem.)
The memory consume of the application is raising short before or after the error occurs. But I did not find out where exactly.
Before the error happens some minutes until one and half an hour pass.
More details will follow.
Is there a specialist in FireWire or in vision who can help?

"OHCI-compliant 1394 Host controller (legacy)" (in German: "OHCI-konformer 1394-Hostcontroller (alt)")
With this driver the test has run for more than 66 hours without throwing an error.

Ok, back to the issue at hand, the Prof. is right. In none of the OP's participation, nor in any of his choir of followers save mommy power is there the least hint of what Apple product is failing. While y'all get a move on and disgorge the details, may want to try a Safe Boot. Hold down the Shift key prior to the startup chime and wait awhile. IF it starts, then it means you have some third-party software that's causing the problem. Else there's a strong probability a complete reinstall will occur in your near future.
In the future and in spite of what some purists may say, be sure to service the system disk BEFORE patching. By "service" I mean booting up the Mac using your Install DVD (Snow Leopard or priors) or booting in Recovery Mode (Command R, in the Lions and successors), running the Disk Utility found in that mode and doing a Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions. Until NO errors show up. Cause patching up an already damaged system will only make things worse. -
I installed windows 7 on my iMac 21.5 (late 2009) and when I boot windows 7, the lag drivers are missing and bootcamp is not installed. The windows package would not download through bootcamp, even when left alone for 2 hours. Don't have the lion disk... Drivers seem impossible to get. Please help!

I have had a trial version of Acrobat X1 Pro - I have decided not to buy at this stage - for some time it has been conflicting with opening PDF docs after "saving as" from word 2007 - I uninstalled Pro X1 and now when I "save as" PDF from word 2007 to PDF it will save the document as a PDF but will not open the document to display after publishing - I have to got to where the file has been saved to view the new PDF document - this is really annoying - do I have to delete adobe reader and reinstall it - adobe needs to look at this conflict with acrobat pro as I have even gone it to properties and tried to have adobe reader as the default PDF program - the main issue is that I cannot view the PDF after publishing it from word 2007

ExpressCache cannot find mSATA after working for some time
I have my T430s with 16 Gb mSATA for cache. After installing ExpressCache and making it work for some time, it suddenly cannot detect the SSD.
An usual solution is to reboot -> hear the annoying beep showing error 2101 -> login in windows -> Shut down -> Turn on the computer and it will work right way (although I haven't test how long it can work). Since it can work smoothly for some while, i don't think it's a hardware issue.

You're on 10.6.8, so that means a Mac. Unlike with Windows, there are not separate 32- and 64-bit versions of OS X. You can run a 64-bit application like After Effects CS6 even if you're on a system old enough to only support a 32-bit kernel. So if you have an Intel-based Mac running 10.6.8 then AE CS6 should work fine.

Delivery failure notice in mail .
I had a google mail account , now everytime i send an email i get a delivery failure notice because mail is sending mail to the google account which i deleted , how do i get rid of this ? Thanks .
