Macbook 2.13 Intel Core 2 Duo w/ 10.6.8 Snow Leapord not Scanning

My HP 5510 All In One is not working on scan. The problem seemed to have started when I upgraded to Snow Leapord (10.6.8). The error message I'm getting is : " The HP Communications application is not running. Click 'reset' button to restart the Communications application or 'quit' to quit HP Scan."  It doesnt rest and downloading the latest software from HP didn't help either

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

  • I'm running OS10.6.8 on an "old" Macbook Pro with Intel Core Duo 32. My work computer is down and I need to use Photoshop and cannot find a version that will run on here! It lets me use Illustrator 10, Indesign CS6, but Photoshop 4, 5, 5.5 and I can't get

    Please help.

Your macbook pro has a 32 bit processor and not a 64 bit processor?
If so, i believe photoshop cs5 is the newest photoshop version that will work on your Macbook Pro.
    System requirements | Photoshop
You can get a 30 day trial trial version of photoshop cs5 from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
Also, photoshop cs through cs4 should work as well, but cs3, cs4 and cs5 will run better since cs and cs2 require Rosetta and can be kinda slow at times.

  • Macbook 2.0 intel core duo ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS HELP PLS

This all started last week. In an effort to be more economical, I decided to keep my macbook and not get a new one. The battery was not doing well...so i bought a new one. I purchased Leopard and tried to install it...it installed but after it just stayed stuck on the gray apple screen. I tried troubleshooting. I reinstalled Tiger that came with it and it had the same problems. Anyways...a couple days ago I tried to reinstall Tiger again and it started working. I have been having problems with the rainbow wheel coming up all the time...so I figured maybe the ram is bad. I ordered new ram from crucial. I got it today and installed it and now the macbook will not even power up. I followed the troubleshoot guidelines and even installed the old ram again nothing.
So, I'm stuck. Is the logic board again? I had it replaced like 7 months after getting the macbook and now it is out of warranty. Please help. Thanks

    Martin,
Since you say it worked to some degree but then not at all after installing new RAM and then after reinstalling the old RAM it would not even work as well as it had prior to the RAM installs, then it sounds like one possibility could be that the logic board is failing do to cracked circuit traces (caused by thermal cycling) and the removing and reinstalling the RAM exacerbated the problem.
The next thing I would try to do would be to cool down the computer to 50F or so and try it. Next try heating it up to 90F or so and try again. The temperature changes can affect a defective logic board. Not that this will solve your problem, but it can tend to validate the possibility of a defective board.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • HT1338 intel core duo / can't migrate to icloud?

Hi.  I would like some help in clarifying please.  I have an older Macbook with an Intel Core Duo running Snow Leopard.  I can't upgrade to Lion.  I have used my .mac account/Mobileme for years primarily for email purposes, idisk, and the gallery (I understand the idisk and gallery are being discontinued).  I'm trying to understand whether I can migrate to icloud and/or whether I really need it.  I don't have any other devices that I need to sync with.  I've already copied my idisk onto my hard drive and I'm not too worried about the gallery because I have my photos and movies stored elsewhere.
    Questions:
    1. Do I need to migrate to icloud in order to keep my @mac and @me email addresses?
    2. Will the @mac email address be discontinued after June 30 (assuming I've migrated to icloud)?
    3. Is it physically possible for me to migrate to icloud if I am using Snow Leopard?  If so, do I follow the steps as outlined on the main migration page (i.e. acknowledge that I'm using the required software)?
I believe there may be a workaround to #3 but am not sure if that's what I'm looking for.  Thank you for your help.
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
    Questions:
    1. Do I need to migrate to icloud in order to keep my @mac and @me email addresses?
    2. Will the @mac email address be discontinued after June 30 (assuming I've migrated to icloud)?

    Answers:
    1. Yes (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597). MobileMe accounts must be migrated before the end of MobileMe otherwise they end along with the service.
    2. No. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597)
    3. I haven't done it recently but yes.
-- You will need to update the mail server settings in your Mail program once the migration is complete as iCloud uses a different set of mail servers than MobileMe: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.
    Cheers.

  • Upgrade to Lion if running Intel Core Duo?

I have a MacBook with the Intel Core Duo (not the Intel Core 2 Duo).  I started to upgrade to Lion and Step 1 says to make sure your Mac can run Lion.  The Intel Core Duo is not mentioned.  Does any one know if Lion can be installed at all?  I have had a Mobile Me account for about 8 years and I am trying to transition to iCloud.  What's a person suppose to do?
    Thanks!

    Lion needs Core2Duo.
You need to buy new equipment.
    Sorry.

  • I have Intel Core Duo, will Lion work on it if I decide to upgrade?

My MacBook Pro is run on Intel Core Duo.  Albeit, I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, can I upgrade to Lion?

Unless your have a need for iCloud, I would stay with Snow Leopard.
If you need iCloud, then you have no option but to replace your MacBook Pro with a more recent model.
iCloud requires Lion and Lion needs at least a Core 2 Duo to install.

  • Can an Intel Core Duo handle a 7200 rpm drive?

I'm now thinking of getting a 7200 rpm hard drive. The biggest I could find was a Seagate at 200GB. Would a 7200 rpm work in my MacBook Pro that previously had a 5400 rpm drive? I have a MacBook Pro 15", Intel Core Duo, 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM. I want to upgrade the hard drive to a larger size at 7200 rpm.
    Thanks,
    Lou

  • Creator 2 for OS X on Intel Core Duo?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the current Creator2 release for Mac OS X supports the machines with the new Intel Core Duo chips (e.g. iMac)? If not, does anyone know when the new machines are expected to be supported?
I tried installing Creator2 on an iMac Intel machine and it failed with this error:
"The RAVE_J2EE_HOME environment variable is set. This variable needs to be unset before installation."
    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the response and I look forward to Creator 2 on MacIntel!
As far as RAVE_J2EE_HOME, I have no idea why the installer is complaining that it is set. I haven't installed anything on the machine prior to trying to install Creator 2 and I definitely didn't manually set it (I've never heard of the variable before). Doing an echo of the variable in Terminal gives nothing. Since I now realize that I was trying to install Creator 2 on an unsupported platform, I guess all bets are off on the installer as well. I will just try again when the MacIntel version is out.

  • I'm investigating whether I can take on 'Lion' when it's released. The information states that your mac needs Intel Core 2 Duo. Is this the same as '2 GHz Intel Core Duo' which is what it actually states my mac has?

I'm investigating whether I can take on 'Lion' when it's released. The information states that your mac needs 'Intel Core 2 Duo'. Is this the same as '2 GHz Intel Core Duo' which is what it actually states my mac has when I click 'About This Mac'?

I could not agree more! My MBP 2007 Intel Core Duo has had its logic board replaced not to long ago (DVI port died). The original hard drive is running great and I am running Snow Leopard wonderfully.
I was amped during the keynote and am really looking forward to Lion. I know the community is working hard to uncover a workaround because at present time, the solution (by new!) is not a worthy one. Especially when there is literally, nothing wrong with my existing machine.
Apple, please ensure Lion will be available for Intel Core Duo machines, we are not that old! The closed architecture approach produces quality hardware. 4 years is a toddler perhaps teenager when it comes to apple hardware and technology. I predict I have at least 3-4 more years left in my current MBP 2007 machine.
    Much Love, Apple!
