MacBook 2.4ghz 4GB RAM.... will it run COD 4 Mac Version?

Hi,
Excited about the new COD4 for the Mac being released, but will the wee MacBook I bought a few weeks ago be able to handle it what with the integrated graphics card?
Many Thanks,
Baz, Belfast, Northern Ireland!!

The GMA3100 that's in the Macbook can barely handle COD2. The only way you would be able to play COD4 on a laptop is if you were to get a Macbook Pro.

  • LEOPARD 10.5.1 - Macbook Pro 15" 2.4GHz 4GB ram - crashing, doesn't wake up

I've 2.4GHz 15" Macbook Pro with 4GB RAM and latest 10.5.1 LEOPARD. I'm getting very upset about the LEOPARD as it's not stable at all compared to Tiger. I've frequent crashes, see photo below.
As described in other topics on this forum, i have simultaneous problem with the laptop not waking up from a sleep mode. The screen is black and the keybord and poer button is unresponsive. I have to hold he power button to FORCE-shut down the computer.
I've done clean LEOPARD installation, not an upgrade.
LEOPARD is getting a lot of unwanted attention with all it's flaws - just google for it.
I was imagining that apple is working hard on this problem, but over the time i'm getting tired of this and although i love the new features i need a stable system - that's why i have MAC and windows!

It looks/sounds to me as if you have a problem with the "Hall Effect" switch which activates sleep when the computer is closed, MarukoDT.
THis isn't actually in the hinge, but is activated by a magnet in the lid when the computer is closed.
"Sleep Cause 5" is certainly closing the lid on my MBP under OSX 10.6.2.
In fact you can reproduce symptoms very similar to yours by simply placing an MBP13 on top of an older Polycarbonate MacBook. If you do this then the magnet in the MacBook activates the Hall effect switch in the MBP13 even when the MBP13's lid is open. Simply moving the computer off the MB will immediately allow it to wake. (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2917 for the Apple KB item on the matter. I've done this myself when sharing a power adaptor and was about to launch in to major "troubleshooting mode" when I remembered having read this article a few days earlier! )
So, assuming you don't have your MBP stacked on top of an MB, and don't work on top of of an MRI machine or other things with substantial magnets , I'd be thinking that it is a defective Hall Effect switch itself that is causing your woes. If so, it is a workshop warranty repair, I'm afraid.
(There are many other possible causes of sleep problems. Generally they involve issues with third party software or third party hardware, but your case is different. I no longer have the log files from my own accidental experiences of this when sitting the MBP on the MB, but from memory they actually looked very like yours.)
    Cheers

Hi - I have opened a second log with the same date and name and am now tracking down the problem.
This seems to be the problem for me: Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5

If V.4.o is not supported by my OS, can I dl the previous version (3.0)?

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

  • This process will not run on a client version of lookout?

I get the following error message when I try to upload my process for web
access: "This process will not run on a client version of lookout?"
    Why am I getting this?
    Regards,
    Tommy Scharmann

    Hello Tommy,
You're probably trying to upload a process which has a Driver object in it
(like Modbus, AB, etc.) As you are aware, Lookout Clients (and Web CLients)
do not have Driver Objects and that's the reason you're getting the message.
You will normally upload your Client process -- a process which doesn't have
driver objects but talks to a Server Process in turn.
    Regards,
    Khalid

  • Will the macbook pro 13" 4GB ram be enough to run LPX ?

    Hi there,
As you probably now know, Logic Pro X is finally out and it's time for me to update my old LP9 to this new soft.
I'm going to buy a new mac and here is my problem : LPX needs at least 4GB RAM to run, I was wondering if my 2011 IMAC 21.5" would run it and in particular the macbook pro 13" (no retina screen) would too - cause I need a laptop and don't wanna leave my Imac.
I'm not such a sound ingenieer but I don't wanna spend more than $1400 if I can't run LPX.
    Please give me advices
    Thanks
    Mike

If it runs LP9 ok, and you have a core2duo processsor upwards (or in otherwords a 64 bit processor) that can run mountain lion, then yes, will run as well as LP9 in my experience on older machines.

  • Does the MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 duo (2,4ghz - 4gb RAM) match with an audio dj mixer Pioneer DDJ SR

I bought a Audi DJ mixer  Pioneer DDJ SR and i want to know if it matches with a Macbook pro core 2 Duo, 2,4 GHZ, 4gb RAM, 250gb DDR?
If not, then can i make it match by adding 4gb RAM or changind DDR to SSD, or others?
    Thanks for your help.
(I am french and my English is not so good, so please let me know if my question is not clear)

    Hi Rick,
Given that the MBP has a 4200RPM HD in it now, any 5400 or 7200 is likely to yield a significant speed increase during operations requiring HD access.
If it is a 15" MBP, make sure you get a 9.5mm high, 2.5 inch SATA HD. If it's a 17", a 12.5mm high HD will fit.
I don't believe any brand of current HDs is significantly better/worse than the others. That said, I think Seagate is at a low ebb of quality right now. I think Hitachi is at the top. WD blacks seem to be consistently reliable. Without question, others will have different opinions (it's like asking if a Toyota or Ford or Honda, etc. is best). I really like the idea of Seagate's hybrid drive, but there is a real mixed bag of reviews on it. It's first gen, and there are issues to be worked out/improved upon. Check out newegg for 200+ user reviews.
AFA 5400 vs 7200, all other things being equal (rarely the case) the faster drive is likely to give better response, but don't expect night and day difference. All other things being equal, it's also likely to run hotter, reduce run time on battery, and increase vibration. There's also a bit of a cost premium.
Whichever you end up with, remember to backup, backup, and backup (I highly recommend a clone and Time Machine).
The odds are you/she will be happier with any of the 5400s or 7200s over the current 4200, and a new drive should easily help you/her get another year or more out of the MBP. Good luck with the decision.

  • I am running 10.6.8 on an iMac7,1 with 2.4GHz, 4Gb RAM.  Other than usual Apple apps, I also run Microsoft Office for Mac.  Am i better off upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks rather than trying to go to Yosemite ?  Thanks!

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on an iMac 7,1 system with 2.4GHz processor and 4Gb RAM.   I also use Microsoft Office for Mac.
I am wondering whether i should upgrade to Yosemite or first go to Mountain Lion or Maverics to avoid sluggishness and other potential issues with using Yosemite on this iMac.

i had thought Snow Leopard was no longer supported hence my idea to upgrade.
It isn't being supported any longer.
If you haven't done this you might want to consider doing it for security.

  • Is XCode fast enough on a MacBook Air 11" 4GB RAM

Hello, in December I will be buying a brand new MacBook Air for school and personal use.  I will also be developing Apps as a developer for iOS using XCODE.  My concern is if a MacBook Air with 64/128 GB Flash Storage and 4GB RAM.  Should I switch to a pro, I am on a tight limit, but don't want to waste my money and regret it. Also, I heard the MacBook Air is very slow installing programs and such, all I would be able to do is check email....  is that true?
    THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS

I am by no means a programmer however I have installed and played around with Xcode on my 11" i5 128gb with 4gb of memory and it seems to run flawlessly.  Installed fast considering the immense size of the program (~7gb installed) and ran fine.  The screen resolution seems like it'd be the limiting factor on the 11" when running xcode.
Other then xcode, the new MBA's are very snappy even with the base 1.6ghz i5 processor and remember there is an option for the 1.8ghz i7.
I am not recommending against a pro but the air will surprise you.  Go in to a local apple store and check them out!
    Hope this helps.

  • Bootcamp on Macbook Not Recognising 4GB RAM?

Am running Windows XP on my Macbook with 4GB RAM, and I don't think that Windows is recognising that there is 4GB available. I wouldn't have thought there should be a setting for this, but I could be wrong? When I check my properties in My Computer, it tells me that I have 2.72 GB of RAM; same when I open up my antivirus software.

Hi to you both and a warm welcome to Discussions,
sounds like you are both using the 32-bit editions of XP/Vista.
While theretically the 32bit Windows can use the full 4GB RAM, in practise only about 3GB are indeed useable. The rest is taken by Windows itself and the hardware reserves some adress ranges of the RAM as well.
Not to forget the 256MB RAM that are used by the 9400 graphics chip (called shared memory).
ETX: Don't get fooled by Microsoft and the Vista SP1. You can still only use the RAm amount Vista reported before applying the SP1.
Microsoft has simply changed what Vista reports from 'useable RAM' to 'Installed RAM'.
    Just a marketing trick.
    Hope it helps
    Stefan

  • 15" Macbook Pro i7 4GB Ram good for gaming?

Hi, I'd like to know if the 15" MBP i7 4GB Ram good for gaming? I'm not gonna be an intense gamer I would just like to play games during my down time. All I will be playing is like 1 MMORPG and maybe 1 or 2 FPS games. I will not be doing this all at once. I will be using bootcamp. I have some friends tell me that they wouldn't play games on the MBP because it could ruin it? Is this true? They tell me that it's not wise to play games on this laptop.

It would depend on the games and how demanding they are, but generally laptops make for horrible gaming platforms in general. Apple laptops in particular tend to be among the thinnest of the bunch. A MBP can be thinner than plenty of netbooks out there while packing considerably more punch. That doesn't leave a lot of room for any excess heat that may be generated while gaming.
If we're talking older games, that probably aren't all that demanding, then maybe. If we're talking newer games that are pushing the limits of the laptop's specs, I'd recommend against it.

Technically yes. You need at least a Core 2 Duo. It might be a bit sluggish though, due to the pretty small system resources you have there.
