    *Magic Mouse is on Drugs*
OK so first, let me say that generally speaking i love my mac. There was a time in the 90's when i was a big Apple fan, but after a few dumb@ss business decisions by Apple, i decided to convert to Windoze (and my entire company at that) So here we are a decade later; and I'm back on a mac again.
Recently my MagicMouse started spazzing out. Randomly jumping to new points on the screen. At first it was mildly annoying. Now it's infuriating. I used Camtasia to record this behavior:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX8ApUH6QOw
I called Apple to discuss this. First, they said "they weren't aware of any issues" A quick google of "MagicMouse Jumps" returned hundreds upon hundreds of links (including this forum) describing the issue.
Second, after assuring Apple this really was a problem, i got the ultimate insult. "If you would like to lodge a technical support ticket, we will need your credit card. This call will cost you $150.00."
You see, I bought this thing four months ago. Apparently you only get a 90 day free call period. After that you're warranty is actually a cost per call scenario.....
So -- While i love my mac, i'm of the distinct impression i've made the wrong choice. The only good news is I've now decided not to convert the rest of our 20 workstations in my business back to Mac....
Apart from my b*tching, has anyone actually solved this problem that according Apple, doesn't exist?
Oh by the way --- plugged in a USB laser mouse, problem does not occur with that device -- tried on all sorts of surfaces; mouse pads, no mouse pads, black paper, white paper, patterned, non patterned, special optical mouse pad for laser mice.... SAME results no matter what the surface is, and YES, i've also cleaned the optics with a lens cloth..... (And the battery is currently at 88%)

    Hello g:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I suspect a faulty mouse. However, try two things first. Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart. Reset the PRAM:

There is no Apple charge for a warranty issue and the mouse has a one year warranty. Call Applecare back (or take it to a store if they have one close to you). Unless I am badly mistaken, Apple will replace the mouse and pay for shipping both ways (I had one fail a couple of years ago myself). Do identify the call as a warranty issue.

  • Does anyone know why my mouse cursor jumps all over the screen at times?

Does anyone know why the mouse cursor jumps all over the screen at times, especially if I am playing solitare?  Is it Yahoo games or my Apple?

Is this a Magic Mouse you're talking about?
If so there's already discussions about this here and maybe related to it, here.  Also google something like "jumping magic mouse" and there's no end of discussions on this topic

  • Satellite C600 - Cursor jumping all over the screen

I was just issued the Satellite C600 and I cannot type without my curser jumping all over the screen. I've followed the advice from other threads with no success. "FN+F9" does not disable the touchpad, and there is no touchpad tab under Mouse Properties. In fact, when I search the whole computer for "touchpad" there is no response.
    Please advise!

    Hello
Why you try to disable the touchpad?
On Satellite C series there is a BIOS update that will solve this cursor jumping issue. There are already a lot of threads here in forum:

  • Curser is jumping all over the screen by itself

my curser is jumping all over the screen by itself.  anyone else have this problem and if so how did you fix it?

    I have the same problem.
The curser jumps all over the place either when typing on the keyboard on my totally tricked out 2012 MacAir (i7 2.0GHz, 512GB), or on the bluetooth keygoard that I have on my keyboard tray nearby: does it on both, apparently totally at random and quite often.
It is realy annoying. I am trying to write a large book and this is really slowing me down.
Various solutions are here on the forum related to old batteries bulging the keyboard, but it even does it on the bluetooth keyboard and the thing is only a year old, so that can't be it.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • How can i stop Pages and Numbers JUMPING ALL OVER THE SCREEN. MAKING ME SEASICK! PLEASE HELP

how can i stop Pages and Numbers  screen JUMPING ALL OVER the place when i just touch my mouse. i have tried and tried to change the mouse settings - but it is the software. especially Numbers. you can't even see what the page size is until you print. i am so SEASICK! PLEASE HELP.

Thanks for the trouble to reply. this problem only happens with Pages and Numbers for me. i have done all the tricks like restarting. the main problem is that the working space is not 'stable' - it has no 'ends' even on full screen. in Numbers - UNLESS I SET IT TO 25% VIEW (which is way too small) - the actual total 'work space' is way off the grid - so every time i move the mouse the table i am working on zooms off to left or right, at the slightest touch. i have set my mouse to no gestures!
the thing is this did not happen before the latest upgrades.
    but thanks anyway. SG.
if you are a techy person - i have another prob. in Mail i am unable to set the SORT / VIEW messages to BY DATE.
(it used to be ok, at one time, too). now it continually reverts to BY SUBJECT oh so annoying !
restarting etc does not change it. resetting preferences does not change it.
    maybe i need a new Mac ?
mine is a 27-inch, Mid 2011. running latest.

  • Pointer jumps all over the screen erratically on new MacPro Quad Core

I just powered up my new MacPro Quad Core Xeon for the first time today. For the monitor, my new Viewsonic VG2230. I noticed that my new mighty mouse was skipping all over the screen and it was hard to get the pointer on the place on the screen I wanted to click. It got much worse when I added the second monitor (Viewsonic VA1912), and didn't want to move across from one screen to another at first.
I thought maybe it was the mouse, and put on my old Razor Pro mouse, which I know and love. Same problems. I switch USB ports still the same.
According to Viewsonic, both monitors are compatible, and I have used the VA1912 successfully on my old PowerMac. I thought it was odd that the number of screens affected the problem, which is why I am concentrating on the monitors, but I wonder if it isn't a problem with my Mac.
    Any ideas?

  • Non Apple mouse pointer randomly jumps all over the screen

Microsoft mouse is randomly moving on screen. Is this a issue because its microsoft or is there a issue with the Mac?

The following steps may help to resolve the issue: For Alps touchpad users
    1. Click "Start" and type mouse. Hit Enter key.
    2. In the Mouse Properties windows that comes up, go to "Tapping" tab.
    3. Tick the box labeled "Tap Off When Typing" and click "Ok" For Synaptics touchpad users
    1. Click "Start" and type mouse. Hit Enter key.
    2. In the Mouse Properties windows that comes up, go to "Device Settings" tab.
    3. Click "Synaptics Touchpad" and then, click "Settings". This will open up Synaptics Touchpad Settings window.
    4. Click "Pointing", then "Sensitivity", and then click "PalmCheck" in the left pane.
    5. Now, drag the PalmCheck slider to right to decrease the sensitivity of touchpad.

  • Why is the arrow jumping all over the screen?

The arrow will not respond most of the time. The trackpad has stopped working. I can use the mouse some of the time.

    Hi Aish,
I have found the problem, but not sure where to find the solution as I'm pretty new to Adobe products.
I built another site to see if I had the same problem, this time I made it shorter to see if the length was the problem. I put in some elements and 'assets', added parallax scroll key frames, left out pretty much most other things to see if I could pin the problem down. I found that I had the exact same problem.
In the Muse preview it scrolls with the mouse like a dream when I grab the scroll bar and drag it down. But when I preview in business catalyst, export HTML or preview in browser, it goes crazy and won't let me get to the bottom. Further to that, when you scroll back to the top, everything is out of place and gets worse every time you scroll down and back to the top.
I have a touch screen computer and tried to scroll the screen with my finger rather than dragging the scroll bar down with the mouse. The website works like a dream when I scroll with my finger, even when I scroll back to the top everything stays in place and the whole site works lovely! I then tried the other, long website to see if this was the same case and it was exactly the same case. It scrolls with a finger like a dream, but has a fit when you drag down the scroll bar with a mouse.
My next question would be could I somehow disable some kind of touch scroll option in only the desktop version of the site, but leave it active in mobile and tablet sites? If I can do this can you please advise me on how to deactivate it, I think that should solve the problem.
Can you please get back to me with an answer to this? I would be very greatful!
    Marc.

  • Cursor jumps all over the screen

Hello, everybody. On my MacBook Pro (Leopard, wireless Mighty Mouse) cursor moves chaotically in different directions. It happens only when mouse connected to MacBook. Trackpad works without any problem.
    Anybody familiar with this problem?

try putting the mouse in a different USB port, or go to mouse prefences, and that might help.

  • Magic Mouse jumps all over screen

Have had it for about 6 months, brand new fresh batteries. It will randomly jump all over the screen when I am normally using the mouse. It just started to happen. I'm on a wired network and I have tried a white piece of paper and different surfaces. The mouse still randomly will jump all over the screen when I am moving it in normal use, it's as if it tracking ultra fast for a few seconds. And my keyboard will pause when I'm typing every few words as well.
    Is this an interference issue?

    FWIW
The issue seems to be related to using multiple monitors. Assuming one has two monitors the jumping mouse problem presents itself when the primary monitor is connected to a video card AND a secondary monitor is also connected to that same card, but NOT turned on. There seems to be some sort of interference b/w the Mac's bluetooth module and the mini-display adapter. Moving the secondary monitor to a second video card presents no problems with the jumping mouse in either the powered on or powered off mode.
Solution: Either turn on both (all) monitors or disconnect secondary monitors from the primary video card if planning to use only one monitor powered on at a time.
