Macbook 2009 No happy mac sound

When I boot my macbook, I am not getting the "Happy Mac" sound, it goes thru the normal pinwheel and Lion comes up normally.  Does this mean that somethig is wrong with my Macbook?

    Hello NotAppleSavy,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the computer wont connect to networks. I see you have used network diagnostic. I would recommend that you read this article, there are a lot of other things you can do in this article that may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

If you are trying to recover photo stream photos, they are only held in iCloud for 30 days.  All you would be able ro recover is photo stream photos from the last 30 days.
If you have an iOS device that still has the photo stream photos one it, you can save them to the camera roll by opening the my photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  Once in the camera roll, they can be imported to iPhoto on your Mac as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

I had iLife pre-installed on my aluminium Macbook 2009 with OSX Leopard on it. My hard drive broke but got most of the info off it and just installed snow Leopard on to a new drive and then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion over it. Now I don't have iLife anymore. How do I get it back?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version

  • G3 is stuck on Happy Mac

I had bought a new fresh copy of OS X 10.0 and installed it on my Hard Drive...about 5 times now. Theres no third party hardware in the machine, but the videocard does tend to show trails of random things and colorwhen im working in Mac OS desktop and other programs. So i started to play a game and couldnt get out of it cause the screen went black so i hit the reset button on the front, the monitor showed black but the mac chime sounded. So i reset the PRAM by Command,Option,P and R and now the happy mac face is there only the hard drive does nothing,i hear no loading at all. The harddrive isnt old and works very well,im just wondering why the machine wont progress any further than the Happy Mac Icon. Ive actually reinstalled OS X 5 times now cause of this problem and each time something locks up the system. Firmware is up to date,it has plenty of RAM and Hard Drive Space so what could be the problem?

The minimum version of Mac OS X worth loading on a Mac is 10.2. Previous versions are not worth the pain and suffering.
Mac OS X 10.0 is really not very stable or very good. No one wants to support it because it works badly, if at all.

  • Mountain lion = crashes on macbook 2009 - any help?

after installing mountain lion i'm experincing crashes with my macbook 2009 - any help?

    Checked the startup disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Be aware, OS X Recovery requires a high speed broadband connection.
Backup all your important files before repairing or restoring OS X just in case.

  • Macbook Pro: Play and record sound at the same time

    Greetings everyone,
My brother and I have are going to switch go a mac, preferebly to a macbook pro. we used windows so far, but the frustration has grown extremely huge, so it's time to throw off this junk.
We've been working with sound a lot and many times we recorded any sound which played through the computer: that means sound and music from dvds and games or other sources, we couldn't get anywhere else. What we did is simply letting the game or dvd play and record the audio at the same time.
I've testet this functionality in windows via bootcamp on a macbook of friend of mine, but NOT the macbook pro version. It's wasn't really that good as I thought. Sound quality was below what I'd expect.
    So here are my questions:
    - Does the macbook pro have a better sound card, which enables simultaneos play + record?
    - Is good record quality bound to a software I need to use?
    Thanks for your replies.

Apple don't have separate "sound cards" like PC's , Martin. The necessary hardware is proprietary , and built into the logic boards.
Both of them have high quality combined optical digital input and audio line in, and combined optical digital output and audio line out. You can also attach various USB or firewire audio input and output devices if you wish. So as far as 'quality" goes, it depends what you are playing them through more than anything else. The inherent audio abilities of both are pretty danged good when using Mac specific software. That is why the music industry love 'em!
Or are you just talking about sound quality through the built in speakers, which are, of course severely limited by the amount of space available, though I've heard far worse from many PC notebooks!?
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Will I be able to Mirror my macbook 2009 with my apple tv if i download os x moutain lion ?

Will I be able to Mirror my macbook 2009 with my apple tv if i download os x moutain lion ?

No, no MacBook can run AirPlay. You need a Mac that was built after 2011 and the MacBooks were discontinued in Mid 2010.

  • Can I swap the harddisks between a new MacBook Air and a MacBook 2009?

Can I swap the harddisks between a new MacBook Air and a MacBook 2009?
I want to buy a MacBook Air and give my MacBook to my wife but
I want to keep all my files, itunes libraries, user accounts, etc.
Will the new Mac Book Air detect the new hardware and install the new
    drivers by itself?

Hi uni2canarias and welcome to Apple Discussions!
The hard drive in the MacBook Air is not meant to be user replaceable. Further, the OS installed on your MacBook would likely not run the MacBook Air.
A better solution might be to use the Migration Assistant to move your data to the new computer. This comes up when you are setting up the new computer for the first time.
    Best of luck.

    Hi Aparana.rahul,
The beeps during the startup of your MacBook Pro indicate that it may need to be serviced. See this article for further information -
OS X Mavericks: If you hear beeps when your computer starts up

Note that while the article title says it is for computers running Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, the same information applies to other versions.

  • Macbook 2009 needs updating advice

I am on here looking for some opinions, advice or warnings on the following. I now have a macbook 2009 version running Leopard 10.5.8 that won't play youtube videos or even play music samples on Beatport Download anymore. I need to update as best i can.
I have checked the system requirements and it seems to me i have the right spec computer to update right up to Mountain Lion.
The question ,is it advisable to update such an old macbook to the newest OS?    And if I do go from what i have, to even Snow Leopard or newer ,will i be wiping the HD completely clean and be returning 150gb like a brand new macbook.
Please ask me to clarify if i have not been clear enough in the question.
    Thanks in advance
    John

The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is back in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

  • Unhappy "happy mac " !

Here's something for you to puzzle over.
I ran Disk Warrior against my main boot partition last week from a backup partition and rebuilt the directory. I then set it to boot from the main boot partition and everything went pear-shaped.
All the Mac does now is boot to a happy mac screen. I am unable to boot from CD - I hear it spin up, but nothing happens - no safe boot ie Command Line. I have zapped PRAM, reset the CUDA and am now at a loss as to what to do next !
    Any suggestions anybody ?
    Many Thanks
    Alan

    Good morning, Alan,
Hmmm. What version of DW did you run? 3.0.2 will work fine on Jaguar, but not 3.0.3.
Next thought --- how old is your PRAM battery. Perhaps it has just coincidently decided to run out of gas?
When you say you ran DW from backup partition -- is that an OS9 partition? Can you boot from that backup partition? Doesn't sound like it.
What CD are you trying to boot from? OSX install CD? OS9 CD? Booting from DW CDs has generally been problematic. If you are pressing the C key to get it to boot from CD, try NOT pressing the C key and see if that does it. I know it doesn't make sense, but has worked for me.
    All peripherals unplugged for now?
When you opened the box to reset CUDA, did you check all cable connections and look for signs of fraying anywhere? Also, sometimes the personality card (big card next to PCI slots), works itself loose on its own. Make sure it is really really firmly seated.
    Keep us posted....
    Tina

  • I have a macbook 2009, the disk is bad. Need to get to Disk utilities.

I have a macbook 2009, the disk is bad. Need to get to Disk utilities but my 10.5 install disk will not get me booted. Says 10.5 can not be installed on this computer. I was on 10.6... Intel

You can't use the installation disc that shipped with another Mac model, or vintage of the same Mac.  Target Disk mode may appear to bypass this restriction, but that's because it treats the target machine as an external hard drive with no CPU, and the installer then assumes it is installing to a backup drive of the computer that is the host machine.  Unfortunately, once you boot the target machine, a kernel panic or an unbootable system may result. They must be either newer retail installation disc that came straight from the store as a purchased item separate from the computer, or the discs prebundled with the Mac in question.
