Macbook Air 11 and Macbook Air 13 (Any actual differences?)

Between and i7 8GB 11" Macbook Air and i7 8GB Macbook Air
Are there any actually differences other then the noted ones(such as no SD Card, Smaller Screen, etc)
Do they run the exact same? Same GPU clocks/ram speeds etc? I figure since the 11" is smaller it's thermal properies might possibly be lacking.
Or are they the exact same when running?
Thanks guys, just a ranom question thar poped in my head.

There is a company called HyperJuice that makes external batteries -
http://www.hypershop.com/HyperJuice-External-Battery-for-MacBook-iPad-iPhone-USB -s/91.htm
They're not cheap but I know a few of my users (that frequently travel overseas) use one and they've very happy with them. The ability to use your machine for 12+ hours without a charge can be fantastic for in the field work or on a long flight.
I agree with SP, the screen size is not a trivial factor to consider. When I worked at the Apple Store it was a nearly daily occurence that people would bring back the 11" MacBook Air because they regretted having to deal with that little screen.
So while the 11" MacBook Air might work just fine for you, just make sure to give it a thorough demo at an Apple Store to make sure you're completely satisfied.

  • Handoff won't work between iPad Air and Macbook Pro

    I'm trying to get handoff to work between my iPad Air and Macbook Pro (Late 2013). I have tried turning all devices on and off again, turning the handoff on and off again and turning iPhone Cellular Calls on and off again on both devices.
    Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

    This fixed your connectivity problem. However, I don't think this has actually fixed any problem.
    I think this Handoff feature is buggy. I have three devices -- a MBP, an iPad Mini, and an iPhone 5 -- and I have done "the dance" you've described and only one of my devices, the iPhone, is now Handoff capable. The iPad Mini still doesn't support Handoff.
    I think there is a problem in the software and that all of this signing in, signing out, powering on, powering off, is just getting the devices to clean themselves up so that stuff can start from a fresh slate and attempt to work together again...sort of. It's not necessarily guaranteed.

  • New MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros supporting Snow Leopard?

    Do the new MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros support the Snow Leopard OS? I have been trying to install 10.6 but the screen is blacking out after install for the Air and I cannot even boot into an external drive for the Pro. Any suggestions or help?

    Kada,
    A Mac's Firmware is designed to reject the installation of a Mac operating system that predates the version and build the unit originally shipped with. There is a good reason for it, as earlier versions would unlikely be in anyway compatible with the hardware. An OS that predates the hardware would not have the requisite drivers for the built-in peripherals, such as the graphics subsystem and ports. The safetey measure prevents Apple from having to deal with the potential nightmare of users having problems they are not prepared to alleviate.
    You may be able to physically create a working situation by running an earlier build using a VM layer, such as using Parallels or Fusion, but Snow Leopard's single user licensing doesn't lawfully permit it. Snow Leopard's Server edition does however. Then again, it still wouldn't solve your scenario, as you would be running Lion or Mountain Lion to support the VM.

  • MacBook Pro and Mac Air - "external monitor"

    Is it possible to connect MacBook Pro and Mac Air and use one as an "external monitor"? And if so, which cable would I need?

    Hi Hello1852,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    To use another Mac as a secondary display with your Mac, it will need to be an iMac, not a portable Mac.  To learn more about using another Mac as a secondary display, take a look at the article below.

  • After update to MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0 screen start flicking

    I've just updated my macbook pro 15" retina with Macbook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0 from App store (just this update).
    After that, every time it goes on the screen saver or if I close it, I can't get it back on, the screen starts flicking black.
    There is no away I can enter the password, even the keyboard is flicking.
    I have to force the macbook pro power off and on in order to use it.
    The update is this http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1609
    How can I solve this?

    Unfortuantely, right now there appears to be no solution except for restoring from a backup before Update 2.0.
    Update 2.0 is a mess - you are lucky if that is the only thing it affects.  See: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20272989#20272989

    I upgraded to Lion and then all video clips on for instance Youtube freeze every tenth second to buffer more data. I have a MacBook Pro and never had any problems when using Snow Leopard. Has Lion problems with this?

    Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Is there any actual difference between Release, Debug and Debug Local configurations in SSRS project?

    Is there any actual difference between Release, Debug and Debug Local configurations in SSRS project?
    For example in VC++ Debug build would have all optimization turned off (by default) and included additional Debug information in executable.
    Since there is no executable produced for SSRS - is there any actual difference between configurations? Or are they only for the purpose of deploying to different destination servers?

    Hi JoeSchmoe115,
    The Project Configuration and Configuration Manager is a feature supported by Visual Studio, on which Business Intelligence Development Studio or SQL Server Data Tools is based. We can use Configuration Manager to create and manage sets of project properties
    in project configurations. You are right that the project configurations is only for deployment purpose in a Report Server project.

  • Can Macbook Pros (and Macbooks) boot off of USB drives?

    I know that you cannot boot off of USB drives in iMacs, but is that the case for Macbook Pros and Macbooks too? I have Ubuntu installed on a 16 GB usb drive and was wondering if it is possible to boot to that usb drive. I cannot simple Boot camp or just dual boot my own way because it is a school computer that they lend me for the year.

    I know that you cannot boot off of USB drives in iMacs
    That's only the case for some PowerPC Macs. It doesn't apply to any Intel Mac, including MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

  • Trackpad Fix for All Macbook Pro and Macbook Models.

    Apple has issued a update for the Trackpad but the update is only compatible with the newer unibody Macbooks and Macbook Pros.
    I have made the following patch that is compatible with all Macbook Pro and Macbook models with trackpad issues. Don't forget to run the registry patch last.
    Download it here:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SNIG71OI
    This should fix the trackpad issues for all Macbook Pro models.
    1. Go to Device manager and go to the "Apple Multitouch Mouse Properties."
    2. Go to the driver tab and click on Update Driver.
    3. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
    4. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
    5. Click on the "Have Disk" button.
    6. Browse to the location of the included "Apple Multitouch Mouse Driver" folder and hit OK.
    7. Click on next and it will update the driver.
    8. Double-Click the included "MouseFix" registry file.
    9. Restart and enjoy!

    Thanks a lot for the effort you made. Rightclick/Scroll problem is not as bad as before, but its still there. What exactly did you change in the driver files? I'm very interested in this.
    I think about programming my own drivers. A good base for that will be perhaps the source code for this linux demo:

  • External Swf on Android Air and IOS Air

    Hello
    Can android AIR and IOS AIR app download and play external SWF with code inside?
    I have created android AIR app(SDK version 4.0) which load external swf with simple movie clip on the scene.
    var loader:Loader=new Loader();
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded);
    loader.load(new URLRequest("2.swf"));
    function onLoaded(e:Event):void
         addChild(loader);
    I have installed this android AIR app on device but i do not see external swf on the scene.
    Thanks in advance

    So for ios as3 code must be like this one.?
    var _urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("2.swf");
    var _loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var _lc:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(false, ApplicationDomain.currentDomain, null);
    _loader.load(_urlRequest, _lc);
    addChild(_loader);
    One more question: How exactly  i can add the external swf to the included files?
    Can you give link with information or some sample? Also, does it work on Android Air?
    If you have sample for ios Air or for Andoid Air i will be very appreciative.
    Sorry for my english.

  • Difference between upgraded Mac Book Air and Macbook Pro

    Hi All,
    So I was recently gifted a MacBook Air with unexpected upgrades. Here are the specs:
    1.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
    8GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
    512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
    The MacBook Air ended up with a severe battery issue and The Mac Store okayed an exchange on it. Upon realizing I had such an upgraded Macbook Air I started looking at exchanging it for a Pro. The sales folks really didn't answer my questions thouroughly, though I did end up going for the pro, I just feel it's a more solid computer. I got the one with a solid state hard drive, a 2.6 GHZ i5 processer and 8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 of memory.
    Today I came across the specs on that Air and realized how much the processor had been upgraded. I'm frustruated that none of the sales folks really went over that with me, they just told me the Pro was nicer.
    But now looking at the differences, I'm wondering if that MacBook Air with all it's upgrades actually nicer?
    I'm hoping folks on this forum can explain the differences between these specs, especially the processors and how I'd experience the difference.

    You shouldn't do. I'm infamous at multitasking. I will have a video paused, watching a few different youtube videos, had a few projects in word open. The Macbook Air never missed a beat. THanks to the SSD. If you're looking for portability go with the Air.
    When it comes to Photoshop, it woud really depend on what you're doing in it. The SSD and Processor in the Air would help you a lot. But if you're editing larger pictures you might notice a bit of slug.
    I have a 13 Macbook Air 2011 1.7ghz, 4gb, 128gb SSD for reference .
