MacBook Air - a sound disappeared

After an exit from the state of sleep my notebook gave out a system error, I overloaded him, whereupon a sound disappeared fully. That to do?
Intel High Definition Audio:
ID device: 0x106B00A2
It all that is in the system.

Closing up the book is a bad idea when she is hot.
The fan tends to move air via the keyboard as well as the vents on the bottom.
Prove it your self; hold your hand over the right side of keyboard and it is relatively cool. However on the left half of keyboard heat is rising; also from left most side of case.
Closing the screen down traps in the heat.
I understand if you can not shut down the programs you are using and sleeping the Air is only choice. But other wise, at all costs, just quit your running aps until you just have the desk top and keep the screen up and the fan running. The fan running fast is a good thing until the temp is brought down.
Sorry if I am coming across as too "know it all". I don't know much about the Air but I am learning.

  • My Macbook air laptop sound, fan and speed is messed up, how do I fix it?

Where do I start. One random day I came home to find out that my sound has been muted. I tried to fix it with headphones, reseting the PRAM, google, and even by asking my schools computer tech. Some times the mute button would disappear and the sound bar would be in color but their would still be no sound. After  the computer tech went on his account on the laptop to un-mute it, which he couldnt, he told me that my built in speakers dont work and would need to be replaced next year. Im like okay no problem, that same day i closed my laptop and found that the light was still on, I asked a friend and he said the black bar between the keypad and screen is what activates the laptop to shut off, which means its broken, so in between class periods i either shut down my laptop or put it to sleep. The next day my laptop starts to run slow and as soon as i power it on the fan runs immediately but the laptop isnt hot. My mouse moves at normal speed but my applications are running slow. This all happened in one week which is this week. My battery dies at a normal pace though.

This is my second laptop out of the 3 years ive been in the program. My first laptop started to break after the sound got muted and my laptop ended up with an X on the battery and would only turn on when a charger is plug but would go super slow. This makes me scared cause i dont want that happening at all to this one.
    Problems
Sound is muted, it sometimes un-mutes but there is still no sound, internal speakers broken
When closed the screen display is still open
Computer applications go slow, fan turns on immediately
Any help, this is bothering me so much

    Hi Jollified,
Does your sound work when you try to use head/earphones? If so, try the following:
Plug your Headphones into your Mac.
Play a sound through them (a song for example), then stop the sound.
Make sure 'Preferences' is isn't open. If it is, Quit.
    Launch System Preferences > Sounds.
While the Sounds tab is open and set to 'Headphones', pull out the Headphones from the jack.
You should see your Mac reset to 'Internal Speakers'
Also, I see you have tried resetting the PRAM, have you tried resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)? Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
As for your MacBook not sleeping when you close the lid, there are many reasons this can occur.
First of all, check out Apples article on the issue: OS X Yosemite: If your Mac won’t go to or stay in sleep If you find these steps don't help, try a few of the following:
A common cause for the Mac not sleeping is your printer. If there are queued jobs waiting to be printed, but your printer is switched off, for some reason you Mac just wont like it and simply will not go to sleep. System Preferences > Print and Scan > Open Print Queue
Do you have an Ethernet Cable connected? People have reported in the past that removing their Ethernet allowed their Mac to sleep. This goes for other things you may have connected directly to your Mac also.
Try heading into your Mac Preferences > Sharing and deselecting 'Internet Sharing' as well as 'Printer Sharing'.
Also deselect Wake For Network Access by heading to System Preferences > Energy Saver > Power Adapter > Wake For Network Access.
Energy Saver > Schedule > Startup or Wake - Uncheck.
Alternatively, set your system preferences to Never Sleep, and put into Sleep manually: System Preferences > Energy Saver > Computer Sleep > Never.
    Good luck!

  • Macbook Air Weird Sound Problem

    Hi,
I have the following problem: the sound stopped working on my macbook air (the previous model). I was sure that it is hardware issue: sometimes it appears for a couple of sec, then disappears, sometimes I have the sound with weird noise in the background. I wanted to get it to service center, but I need the laptop for use and can't get it to repairs for at least a month. However, later I found that when I boot from bootcamp and use windows 7 - the sound works perfectly. I assume that if it is working in windows 7 - then it could be non-hardware problem. Do somebody have any recommendations what to do?
    Thanks for your help!

You should post your message in the proper thread. This thread is for the new MBA.

  • My macbook air 11 sound disapears

Hi i have searched but have not found a solution to my problem my macbook air 11 mid 2013 sounds just disappears and also the headphone jack stops working for no reason and the only way to get it back is to reboot my mac is there a fix to this problem as i have seen other mac owners reporting this problem away back in 2009.

If you feel under to power connection, you will feel that the underbody is hot. you will need to cool the body to have videos from internet work and speed up your connection.
i solve this by two ways.
    1. i place it in the freezer for awhile.
    2. i rest it ontop of those gel-pack icecube packets.
sorry, but this is a problem with the mac-air.
you can also download a fan controller for free from download.com for macs to help with info on internal temp.

  • Macbook Air (2014) sound fluctuation

    Hi guys,
My macbook air 2014, running on yosemite has been having sound fluctuations in particular during video playback. Both on quicktime and VLC. Fluctuations happen even when I have my headsets plugged in.
    Anyone able to assist?

Perhaps a PRAM reset will work:

  • Installation on a Macbook Air, with sounds on separate drive

Is there a way to install Logic Studio on a Macbook Air so that all the sound libraries and the recordings (and as much of anything else as possible) are on an external HD drive? Space is tight.

No, you got it. One USB port for Audio interface and the other for the streaming support files. I keep thinking of the 1st gen Macbook Airs with the one USB, sorry. The install is a very lengthy process made longer with the I/O limitations of the Air and USB 2.0 for the external support files. After you start the installer it will make sense with drop down menus for where and what get's copied.

  • Please help me make my Macbook air play sound?

    Hello all!
My Macbook air doesn't play sound anymore. It originally started with when I plugged in my HDMI cord to play on my LCD TV and it wouldn't work. Then I started fiddling with the settings and got it to work for a second. Then with a little more fiddling, somehow managed to turn off internal speakers. The volume is grey with no controls. If I adjust volume with keyboard, the cross out sign shows. I just would love to get some music coming out of my laptop again, and if I could get the HDMI to work too, that would be bonus!!

Try doing an SMC reset     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964    Then go into system prefs/sound/output and makes sure internal speakers are highlighted, if they aren't click on them

  • Macbook Air Beeping Sounds

My refurbished 13" Macbook Air has been making beep sounds every time I close it/put it to sleep. When i open it back up it shows a black screen and beeping noises. (3 beeping noises every 5 seconds) I just got a new hardware and I am not sure it it is the problem .How can I make it stop? I let it beep until the battery dies and i plug it into a power source and it turns on but I can't seem to make it stop beeping.

The 3 beeps every 5 seconds usually occurs when booting a system that has memory issues. The beeps indicate that the memory doesn't pass the power on self test the system does. I'm not familiar with that also happening around sleep, however, would recommend you take it into Apple.

  • Macbook air ssd partition disappeared?

Greetings. I am currently dealing with something a bit unusual. The partition where all the Mountain Lion OS was stored cant be detected in any way by my macbook air. I tried everything, trying to reselect as a startup disk, apple internet recovery, reseting NVRAMit just wont show up in the list of Disks in the Disk utility. All I get is the recovery partition which is Disk0 "MAC OS X Base System" which is 1.32GB or so. Please help as I start to get very upset, this is my work machine and I need it for an important presentation this weekend. It's a macbook air 13 mid 2012 8GB Ram 120GB SSD (I believe its the toshiba one). Thanks for reading!

Probably you put an app in full-screen. Move the cursor to the top right and select the blue button, so the menu bar will show again

  • Mac Air- Sudden sound disappearance

Just like many of the Mac Air users, my sound suddenly disappeared. NO sound, no icon. I tried every suggestions recommended in this forum. Finally I brought it in to the Genius Bar who couldn't fix it and had to send it in for service.
After 2 days I got a phone call to inform me that the problem was caused by the dent on the cover and that it will be $400+. I don't remember any dent and based on what I've been reading in this forum and others, it seems to be other problem instead of any such dent!
Although I have Apple Care, changing the hard cover is not covered by such insurance.
I don't know.. I feel like they are just blaming on such because they don't know what is causing it. It has been only a few months since I got my computer. It really makes no sense that a computer that is advertised as a sturdy one is actually so fragile. I think what they are telling me is total BS...

My MBA had no sound for a while, there were no hardware to choose/select in the system preference nor in About this MAC option.
I've tried everything possible (other then sending it in for repairs) to restore the sound.
Well long story short. I had order a hard shell cover for my MBA. During the process of snapping on my cover, my sound came back! I couldn't believe it, I thought it was from something other than the MBA. I realize during the process of putting on the shell cover, I had to apply pressure at specific points on my MBA. I applied pressure to each location where the cover had a snap lever.
I believe this pressure may have push in the cabling / pins for the sound card. Since then I have not loss my sound capabilities.
I thought it might have been a fluke. Therefore I shut the MBA down and restarted it and I heard the startup sound. I did this several times to ensure it was working properly.
So far it has been two weeks and sound still works!
What do you have to loose? Try applying pressure (not too hard though) on the sides of the MBA, along the left and right sides of the monitor and the left and right of the keyboard. It may or may not work, but it is worth a try before sending the MBA in for repairs.
Good luck and I hope it works for those who are having sound problems with their MBA.
    Regards,

  • Macbook air poor sound

Headphone sound is great. Speakers are terrible.  Any suggestions?

Plotinus veritas replied.  " i got all apple books, and the AIR has the best speakers, but download the program BOOM off the app store , i recall its like $5, I use it, and it makes your speakers 3-5X louder / better."
I could not reply until I logged in.  When I logged in the reply was not visible so I'm trying this.
I couldn't find anything named BOOM in the app store.  Can you explain why the headphone output is what it should be but the speaker output is not?
    Thanks

  • How do i remove the macbook air startup sound?

Yes i am talking about the dong sound whenever the macbook powers on.
I am using bootcamp windows and switching back and forth all the time, i only had the computer a couple days and it already goes on my nerves.
Muting before turning off osX doesn`t work, startupninja doesn`t work, psst doesn`t work, and holding down mute while starting doesn`t work either.

Instead of hitting the mute button, volume down to zero.
    That worked for me.
If you have external speakers connected, you have to remove them first, then volume down.
I hope that solves your problem!

  • Really need help! Macbook Air, no sound?

So last night I had music going, no problem. This morning, no sound at all. I've been searching all over for the past 2 hours for a solution. No red light in the audio jack, but I have been plugging and unplugging the headphones, also jiggled around a toothpick and a tack in there. Uninstalled Soundflower as well, even though I knew that wasn't the problem, as the internal speakers worked fine even with soundflower installed. When I go to sound in system preferences there is no option for internal speakers. I have tried resetting PRAM, SMC, and I've done a safe boot. Nothing. I really need my sound to work ASAP, I have a project for college requiring use of sound. PLEASE, I AM BEGGING YOU, HELP ME.
