MacBook Air and Palmrest Electricity

I opened my brand new MBA on Sunday. From the moment I plugged it in the palmrests 'vibrate' in an electric fence type way. It doesn't do this if it is on battery power and doesnt do it if I use the longer extension cable for the power adapter/supply. This happens at home and at work.
Dr. Google was helpful to some extent but my question to the more learned of the Mac world is two-fold;
i) What is this?
ii) Should this happen?

The sensation is normal. In order to meet international agency compliance for emitted radiation, the power adapter places one-half of the AC input line voltage onto the computer chassis. Although it can be annoying, the current is not dangerous, and is well within the international safety specification. The problem can be alleviated by using the 3-prong AC line cord for the power adapter, and plug it into a properly-grounded AC outlet.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

If the previous owner accepted the preinstalled software (iPhoto, etc) to the AppleID, it cannot be passed on to a new owner. Even if the previous owed would use her or his Applied to install it for you, you would never be able to reinstall it or to update it.
In that case buy your own copies of the software.

Can I use a memory stick to back up my MacBook Air and what size do I need?

i Have a MacBook air , processor 1.3 Ghz Intel core i5, 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. Operating on OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1.
it will not open up Safari, it crashed out of Safari with an error message and will not ooen it up now however many times I try. I was reading Daily Mail on line at the time. I can get onto the Internet by using Chrome but it feels as if Chrome is in charge of me rather than the other way round. when I type in an address it just takes me where it wants to go rather than the website I want to to. I now want to back up my data but left my drive in UK (I am in USA at the moment.) so wondered if I can back all my data (very important data) on to a memory stick so I can wipe my computer and start again. I have an appointment with a techie at the Apple shop on Saturday but need to back up my data before the appointment, so not sure what to do.
ALso my IPad is very unstable after using the Daily Mail site, it has always seemed to be fine before but this weekend seems to have created problems for both my MacBook Air and IPad Mini...

Click on the blue Internet Recovery in nbar's post. That is a link to what computers can run Internet Recovery.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

I have been using a 2012 Mac pro to do HD video editing. I bought a new portable Macbook Air only to find that Maverick no longer has "open files in a new window" which I use all the time in the very large folders of video clips and royalty-free music. I asked at the Apple Store how I could get this back on the Macbook Air and they said it couldn't be done so I thought I would re-format the HD and install 10.7 on it and was notified by the Macbook Air I can't put 10.7 on that computer. Apple use to give this as an option but now they have gone more to the attitude of "Do it our way or go to ****!" In anger I went out and bought a Dell Laptop and Pinnacle Studio 17 which I have been learning to use. I have been an Apple/Mac user since 1979 and would still rather do my video editing on a Mac. Is there any way that I can force the Macbook Air to let me load in OSX 10.7 where there is still the option to "open files in a new window" or is there a way to add this to Maverick? The experts at the Madison, WI Couldn't give me any help on this.

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the General tab, and uncheck the box to open folders in a new tab.

I was so frustated from this issue that I used to use Windows iTunes for mass editing info, adding Lyrics etc and then transfering songs to Mac. This tip has alleviated my pain!!

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

The old music is still showing up on my iPad. How do I get it back into the library, or do I have to download everything again onto the MacBook air?

You will have to do more than simply changing settings in your moms account. To set up everything in your own account, go to Settings > iCloud > scroll down and press sign out. From this, check out this link for how to setup iCloud on all of your devices after making a new icloud account on your phone: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Before you set that up, you will have to make a new iCould account which you can simply do after you sign out of your mom's account on your devices.

MacBook Air and Mac Mini Combination

I am trying to decide between a new (rumored to be out soon) MacBook Pro 15'' or a MacBook Air. If I take the latter option, I will need an accessible hard drive onto which to offload my photos, videos, and other large files. Would the combination of a MacBook Air and a Mac Mini work well for this? Could I use the MacBook Air essentially as the monitor for the Mac Mini when I am using its hard-drive? Are there any other drawbacks or compromises I should think about? Thank you in advance.

If you're looking for an external storage solution, for the same cost of the Mac Mini you can get a 1.0TB Time Capsule. If you're looking for a computer to pair with the MBA, for the sake of disc sharing and such then the Mac Mini is a great option. But if you're looking for a machine to serve as a data storage unit, then it's definitely not a good choice.
External hard drives range from 5GB to 1TB, get something that fits your needs. The cost of a 250, 320 or 500GB are extremely reasonable.
