Macbook Air and "Server connections interrupted" plague.
So there is a very known issue with Airport Extremes that have hard drives connected to them and an intermitent "Server connections interrupted" popup that as far as I can tell has yet to be addressed by Apple or solved by users (there are tons of threads on the issue). The popup looks like this (not my image):
I have experienced this issue for quite a while now due to my keeping my iTunes library on the Extreme-connected hard drive and the annoyances it causes, primarily iTunes 'losing' the iTunes Media folder location in iTunes preferences and then not knowing where mp3s are and having 'broken' song connections in iTunes, not knowing where to add new mp3s because the Media folder location is blank/empty, or most annoyingly, defaulting back to the Macbook's internal hard drive and storing new mp3s in it's iTunes Media folder, thus spreading my library across two locations/drives.
Now, for a long time I just dealt with it on my Macbook, not a big deal, but now I'm on a new MB Air and it's slim 128gb drive. I'm now moving nearly everything to the external - iTunes, iPhoto Library, Aperture library, various archive folders and reference materials, etc. and it's already beginning to really grate on my nerves. iPhoto struggles with it and losing it's library similar to how iTunes does, as do Aperture and others.
So I'm more actively looking for a solution and help. I was hoping maybe someone could think of something along the lines of Terminal, Applescript or Automator? Something that could check and maintain the connection? Or something that while those apps are open would sense when those preferences are altered due to the server interruption and restore the correct settings?

MacBook air and projector connection.
Hi everybody
I am having some issues with the new Macbook air (mid-2011) and connecting a data projector. I got the adapter to VGA and everything seems to work fine most of the times when booting MacOS Lion. However, sometimes the Macbook would not recognize the beamer resolution and switch to 648x480. This can then be adjusted manually and works.
Booting into Windows 7 (Bootcamp installation) gives different issues. 2 out of 3 projectors tested refused to recognize the signal from the Macbook. The third did everything automatically with the correct resolution. Putting the baby to sleep and waking up did not help. Connecting the adapter before/after beamer was ready did not help. Manually setting resolution as well as using Win plus P shortcut did not help. The graphics card driver seems to be the newest available.
Any ideas what I could try?

I have put some of my problems up there as well. For me nothing worked. Nobody in two Apple stores could help. VGA adapter did not work at all, regardless of the order of connecting cable and adapter. Tried two more adapters and two more cables. Mini-Displayport to DVI -Adapter did also not work. Everything works well under MacOS. Must indeed be something with the Thunderbolt/Mini-Displayport combination port and the Windows driver.
Any idea how to report this to Apple?

BT won't deal with this - they redirect me to a 'partner' who want to charge to discuss the problem. Nice, eh! -
I have a new MAcBook Air and my photos don't fit on the internal hard drive. I want to store my photos on an external hard drive which I will connect to my Air when using Iphoto. How do I set an external hard drive as the default drive in Iphoto?
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Using the mini hdmi cord to connect the macbook air and my tv I cannot seem to have anything appear or be heard on my tv.. the MacBook air will flash blue like it is connecting but nothing will seem to work Any advice?

I'm setting up my MacBook Air and it tells me to sign in with my apple ID so that I can set up features like iTunes and iCloud and such but when I try to sign in it says there's a server error. What do I do? Do I try to skip the step? How can I fix this?

Server Connections Interrupted - Mountain Lion, latest client and server upgrade
Hello,
I have seen several errors of a similar kind with no definite fix anywhere on here, so I thought I would post this.
We are running a network with a Mountain Lion Server on a Mac Mini, connected to a router for internet access and connected to a local network for client computers. All the clients are running the latest version of Mac OS X Mountain Lion and are connecting to remote home directories on the server. They also use several group directories.
As of late, they have been getting the message: "Server Connections Interrupted. Ignore / Disconnect all" concerning their group volumes.
I haven't been able to find anything in the logs indicating why this happens, or how to fix it, or why it started appearing.
What have people experienced out there? It appears on all sorts of user accounts, on different computers in different areas of the workplace.

There is no WIFI enabled on the network, all is networked using ethernet.
There's a Time Capsule on the Server, which backs up the server data regularly. This seems to be connected one way or another from the threads I've read, but those are from aprox. two years ago while this started happening recently. -
I would like to be able to show my iPad3 screen through the Macbook Air that is connected to a projector. I attended an Apple Training presentation and the presenter was using this set up-how do I get it set up correctly? I also recently purchase Apple TV because the presenter said that she was using this device with the Air and the iPad.
If you are trying to connect the iPad to the Macbook, then try this app: http://www.reflectionapp.com/ The iPad also supports connecting straight to the Apple TV, so you could try it that way too.

Print>Save as PDF - uses Preview (part of OS X), so Adobe Reader should have no effect on that at all.
As to the "damaged file" error, simply uninstalling the Reader app won't affect it. Do the following:

Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Adobe Reader app
[user]/Library/Preferences
Trash the com.adobe.Reader.plist file
To access the [user]/Library, hold the "Option" key and click "Go" from the FInder menu.
Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Reader folder (the whole folder)
Empty the Trash.
Download the FULL installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Quit your browser and reinstall Reader.
Launch it from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement.
You should have no problems downloading PDFs with Safari.
Unfortunately, ANY PDF that says it's damaged.... is. You'll have to trash them. -
I'm trying to sign in with my Apple ID on the first set up of my MacBook Air and it keeps coming up with the error message "couldn't sign in because of server error"
Can anyone help with this please?1) The One-to-One program is in person in an Apple Store. I've never heard of any phone-based training. Perhaps the salesperson was confusing that with AppleCare which extends the phone support on your product.
2) Here is the relevant part from the official terms:

If the saleperson gave you incorrect information that makes the One-to-One service unusable, talk to the store manager and tell him or her what information you were given incorrectly, and ask about a refund of the cost of the program.

I did everything the article suggests. And for my macbook pro it works perfectly. But all the other devices (iphone 5, 4, Macbook Air) can't connect to the network. Anybody any idea's?
Try resetting your modem. Power it down. Wait a moment, then power it up again. While it resets, do not change what is connected to it.
In another, though unrelated article, Apple recommends the following:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
This step really ought not be considered optional for the configuration you propose. If the problem persists after resetting your modem, reset everything else too. -
I am desperately looking for a bluetooth headphone that would be compatible to my Macbook air and Ipad mini both. I am more of looking for a headphone that does not need a transmitter device to be connected to the source (in this case Macbook Air and Ipad Mini) and headphone acting as a receiver, rather need a headphone that would be connected directly via bluetooth to the source, it would be great if multiple apple devices be connected simultaneously. Hey sorry for the late reply, I was busy to figure out alternatives as harman kardon was a difficult affair to find and acquire, but the good news is I managed to get hold of alternative.
Sony I assume recently launched a Bluetooth headphone DR-BTN200 which is compatible to my MacBook Air , iPad mini and android phone galaxy s2 with ease, the sound quality is pretty good as compared to other brands of Bluetooth headphones I checked compatible or incompatible to apple devices alike, this is definitely what I was looking for, costed me 7990 INR, this is highly recommended for ppl who are confused, I carried my devices to the store and checked before I bought a pair and pretty much happy,
The best part of this is its battery backup, I have used this hours for 3-5 days but this has not drain even then, but I do keep this charging once in 2-3 days just to keep this ready otherwise it does not even ask for it neither the quality of sound drops after 2-3 days of use.
This is over the ear headphone which is very soft but it's get sweaty around the ear I guess that's bound to happen.
