I have a MacBook Air OS X version - 10.9.4 . I updated my mac 1 week before but todayI check that my mac in built camera is not working Even I try to check in this thing in all the apps. Please provide  the way how to sort out this issue asap.

The SMC reset often fixes your problem.
Be sure you follow the instructions for your particular Mac model.
If your problem continues, restart Mac.  Then download and install OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).
If that does not correct the problem, reinstall Mac OS X.
If nothing else works, contact your Apple Service provider or Apple MacBook Support for help.

Can't make 2012 MBA 13" work in clamshell mode after updating to Mountain Lion.  All peripheral devices are connected, as is AC power.  Closing lid causes external monitor to enter sleep mode (presumably, the MBA is going to sleep as well).
Power settings are set to stay awake when on AC power.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The two may be linked as there is a common support app called IMAgent that helps with both Messages and FaceTime.
    Shut down both apps.
With the Finder as the Front App > use the Go Menu > Hold down ALT key and select Library.
In the Library find and open th Preferences Folder
Find com.apple.IMAgent.plist and drag it to the Trash
Before restarting the App now go to Activity Monitor in Applications/Utilities.
Find imagent (it  is in lower case).
Highlight and use the Quit button.
    Now restart the app(s).
This will recreate the .plist  from defaults.

  • HT2090 my macbook air camera is not working

My Macbook Air camera is not working when I try to use photobooth. I have no problem with google hangouts or skype. How can I resolve this problem?

    • Restart your Mac. If the problem continues, use the Disk Utility in your Mac's Finder > Go > Utilities folder to repair permissions.  Then test the camera again.
    • If the your trouble persists,.  reinstall OS X Mavericks.  Repair permissions again immediately following the restart that completes the reinstall and before testing the camera again.
    •  Also check your Mac's  > Software Update... or Apple - Support - Downloads for latest Mavericks updates applicable to your Mac model such as OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 Update.

  • My macbook air camera does not work

    I have a macbook air 11" mid 2011   running OSX Yosemite 10.10.1
I need to use the facetime camera, but it says no camera is available.
what I have done (6 hours or research and grief later):
After reading a plethora of forums,  I have tried:
Migrated from OSX Mountain Lion to Yosemite..  will definitely fix your problem.   no good...
    Installed the latest update...  yep...
used the disk Utility repair again just in case...   yep...   still no good.
restarted the computer...  yep.       no good...
open a terminal and type         sudo killall VDCAssistant
yep that was a waste of time...  its not even on my laptop.
the USB camera is not in the System Information USB Tree. and under camera it says no video capture devices were found.
Found a really helpful UTube video which suggested I Kill off a Parrot thingy...   wasnt even in the devices list...
I have read through the plethora of forums on this problem even further... there are literally thousands of them.
The most popular answer which Apple appears to provide is:    and by the way you keep running into this suggestion...
One of these will fix your problem:
    (1) If restarting your Mac doesn't fix the problem,                          (NOPE  didnt fix it..)
    (2) use Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090                      (NOPE  no help...   as:
did the use Disk Utility to repair permissions thing..   yep...  still no camera...
the USB camera is still not in the System Information USB Tree.
(option 3 applies to me...   cant see the camera in the USB...
no suggestion on how to resolve that ...  but there is a (4) so I tried that...
I reset the SMC ...   guess what...   still no camera...
    The camera used to work...
...............................................................................      My thought and question of Apple is below  ...................................................
I am thinking the port on which the camera communicates is disabled in the new software version, or it is reassigned to something that is in conflict with it.  The USB connection is set at the manufacture level to something which is not being detected now.
CAN APPLE PLEASE ADVISE ME WHICH DEFAULT PORT THE CAMERA IS CONNECTED TO AND CONFIRM THAT IT IS NOT DISABLED BY DEFAULT
Please dont tell me its a problem with the camera...   I could probably roll back to the old software, and my system would work just fine...   this has been a total pain in the neck...   and has cost me many hours...
Yes I am going into the Apple store tomorrow... another two hours out of my life...  probably to be told its a hardware issue and they need to take it away and charge me money to fix it..     but I will take it there and decline to pay any money.   It is out of warranty and probably not essential to the laptop to use.   It s frustrating that there is no easy fix to this problem despite the plethora of forum articles and posts by thousands of people experiencing the same problem.
There is no way Apple can stick its head in the sand and claim its a hardware issue.
I have tried to look for a built-in USB camera driver for Apple Macbook Air...   good luck with that...   If the old system driver was about,  perhaps someone could check the communications ports and work out where this problem actually sits.

There was a final outcome...       Apple determined that the IO card was faulty and they replaced it under warranty..      The camera is working correctly
i cant argue with the results...     The card replacement has reliably fixed the problem.
SO my final recommendation for a solution is
check online to make sure you can get an appointment at your APPLE shop.
Book the appointment so you don't waste 4 hours...
Check that your machine is in warranty.      If not, the repair cost to me was $85 aus...    Still not too bad considering this issue cost me 14 hours of research and a further 8 hours travel time...
BAck up your computer and open the password to protect your regular one.  Then...
take it to Apple at the appointed time.     MAKE SURE YOU BACKED UP YOUR MACHINE...
WAit 5 to 10 days based on how busy they are...          If they say your card is faulty, it's hardware and no amount of fiddling about with software is going to fix the problem.        I could have saved 18 + hours..
Replace  the IO Card Fixed this issue...       It has not failed since getting the computer back.

  • Macbook Air thunderbolt ethernet not working after 10.8.3 update

    Hi,
Thunderbolt Ethernet for my Macbook Air (11-inch, Mid 2012) stopped working after installing 10.8.3 update.  I am unable to conect to my router via thunderbolt Ethernet connection port.
Anyone else having the same issue? Any recommendations?

Unplug your thunderbolt adapter.  Restart the router.
Go to your Mac and go to System Preferences >> Network
Use the - button in the lower left corner to delete your Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.
Now plug your thunderbolt adapter back in and use the + button to add "Ethernet Thunderbolt" to your list of connections.  Move it back up in the order of network preference you want.
Your network access should now be reset.

  • MacBook Air 11" - WiFi not connecting in Europe

    Hello everyone,
I just recently bought my MacBook Air 11" this summer and it is currently running on OS X Mountain Lion. I purchased it in the United States and had very minimal problems with it. I bought it for the purpose of using it for my work in France for the next 8 months. I just arrived this week and have been unable to connect to any WiFi networks whatsoever. I have not set up a personal connection at my apartment but it continues not to work when I bring my laptop to the school I work which has a very strong unsecured WiFi connection.
Is there something I'm missing here? I have never had WiFi problems before but upon moving to France, my US-bought MacBook Air just doesn't want to connect. I keep receiving "A connection timeout occured". I want to believe it's just the signal but I see no reason why it shouldn't connect to a strong signal-- and I would hate to assume that's the case only to set up my own WiFi at home and find it still doesn't work weeks later. The location is set to Automatic at the moment.
Any step-by-step advice would help. I am extremely new to Apple products and not great with the lingo or navigation quite yet so thorough directions of how to approach the diagnostic would be very helpful.
    Thank you!

First, I don't think anything is really wrong with your MBA. There are different WiFi frequency/channel patterns in different areas, but that's on the router side, your MBA should adapt to that without you noticing.
Have you tried restarting your MBA while in the WiFi range?
You should see that you get hold of a network admin of your school, and show him your problem. It might be as simple as him resetting the router. There can be other limitations in the network as well, e.g. if they want to keep the students from accessing it, certain computer addresses can be allowed only (aka MAC addresses, but not to be confused with "Mac" as in Apple). Someone is maintaining the network there, talk to him/her.

  • My MacBook Air 2013 is 'not compatible with Mac OS X Mountain Lion'

    Hi,
I just bought a new MacBook Air 2013 yesterday.
I think there may be some driver issues with it as the graphics seem a little choppy.
I tried redownloading Mac OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store but a message constantly pops up saying that Mac OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with my computer.
Is anyone else getting this issue?

Wait until the next update, or reinstall it from the recovery partition, which is accessible by pressing the Command and R keys at startup.

  • IPhone not recognized after Mac security update

I have a Mac iBook G4 running OSX 10.4.11, and an iPhone 3G running OS 3.0. Up to now they have worked fine together. The phone was charged on the iBook this morning. This afternoon I ran software update on the Mac which installed the latest security update (2009-05, I think). After that, the phone is not recognized when plugged in the USB port. It no longer charges, nor is it recognized by iTunes.
I have checked the following to be sure that the security update is the culprit:
The iPhone with the same cable works fine on another Mac (running 10.5).
Other devices (thumb drive, printer) work fine in the same USB ports.
Finally, I restarted the iBook from the original installation CD for OSX 10.4. When running with the original version, the iPhone is recognized correctly.
So, I am reporting a problem with the security update, and I need to know how to back it off, or how to get it fixed.
    Thanks for any help.
NOTE: Software update also installed iTunes 9.0.1 along with updates to Quicktime and Safari. However, none of these apps even have to be running to show that the phone will not charge.

The problem was solved by resetting the System Management Unit, thanks to a helpful phone call with an Apple Expert. On the iBook this required unplugging, removing the battery, and holding the power button in for 15 seconds.
Earlier I tried zapping the PRAM, as someone suggested, but the phone was not recognized. But it turns out it did show up in the System Profiler.
I have no idea why this happened in the first place, right after the software update.

  • I have a macbook air that is not connecting to the internet correctly.  I've had it connected for three weeks, it went into sleep mode, and will not reconnect.  It will connect to other wireless routers (I've tested it) but not the one at my apartment.

The problem is not happening with any other device that I have.  My iPad, iPhone and another laptop all connect fine.  In fact, it's not even the connection.  The computer will connect to the net.  It just will not open any page.  It starts to open and then hangs and hangs.  It will not move.  Weird since it worked great for three weeks and then all of the sudden, nothing.  Click on Safari and I have short hope that it will move and NOTHING!  Any thoughts why it would hang up like this and only with this specific network?

This is a known Lion issue, hopefully solved in 10.7.3. But may not be solved immediatly after updating, that was my case.
To make it work i followed those steps.
    1.- Restart
    2.- Lion 10.7.2 Update
    3.- Uninstall netwokrs
    4.- Shut down
    5.- SMC reset
    6.- Reinstall networks
I dont know whether all the above steps are necessary, but for me the update didn't work properly before SMC reset. (I am running a MBA mid2011)
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers

  • SQL Developer Not Connecting After Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Update

I installed Oracle 10g on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 as described in here . All worked fine until after updating Snow Leopard last night with to 10.6.3. First I started getting an Insecure Startup Item Disabled message which I solved with the reply to my message at the Apple forums here . That took care of the first issue but now when attempting to connect with SQL Developer, I receive several errors messages in the log most of which point to the source o.jdevimpl.db.adapter.DefaultContextWrapper with a message starting with "Failed to create naming Context for db connections at url: file:/Users... I assume this is some sort of Jave error perhaps related to the Snow Leopard upgrade. However, I have absolutely no clue how to deal with it. I'm a student taking my first database class so the install of Oracle pushed me to my system knowledge limits.
    Any help would be appreciated!!

After some poking around on a several forums, I found a suggestion to reapply the OS X update by using the combo install package. That seemed to do the trick. I can now see and connect to my DB.

  • Bridge will not open after Mac OSX update

Hi, I updated to Mac OSX 10.9.5 yesterday, and now Bridge CC will not open.  What should I do?

I'm not familiar with Lr, not having used it since trying it and thoroughly hating it when I tried when it first came out, but…  I'm not quite clear what you mean by "open in Bridge".
Bridge doesn't "open" anything, so I suspect you mean open in Adobe Camera Raw hosted by Bridge.  Bridge is just a file browser, and as such it doesn't open, edit, manipulate or save anything; it just hands the file(s) to the appropriate application, whether that be Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or even something like MS Word.
Perhaps you need to re-establish the file association at the OS X level.  What happens when you bypass Lr altogether and just double-click on a raw file in the Finder?
