MacBook Air Facetime to iPad 2

Hi, I am wondering what the deal is with Facetime rarely working?
I bought my dad an iphone, imac and ipad 2 over the past 2 years and he can never receive my calls from facetime on my MacBook Air? Both are updated and I have checked out and both are signed in ok, doesn't make any sense.
Can anyone help?

How do I pair my macbook air with my iPad???

What do you mean by "pair"? If you're asking about Bluetooth pairing, the only thing you could do if you paired them would be to share the iPad's internet connection. iOS doesn't have the BT profiles for file sharing or syncing.
If you're asking about something different, please provide some details.
    Best of luck.

I am unable to see the airplay icon on my macbook air, iphone or iPad which would enable me to use my Bose speaker through airplay. I set this up in the UK but have taken my macbook and bose speaker travelling with through Thailand. Ive wifi in my room and am able to access the internet on my laptop, Ive also been able to through the Bose Soundlink air wifi set application connect the bose speaker to the Wifi too.
I am only able to play my itunes through my macbook speakers and cannot find the airplay button which should be next to the volume slide once turned down to less than 1/3 of the volume..

Thanks for your help.  Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV.  I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air.  Thanks again.

  • I CAN'T GET MY MACBOOK AIR, IPHONE OR IPAD CONNECT TO EACH OTHER THROUGH BLUETOOTH. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE SUGGESTIONS I HAVE READ, INCLUDING RESTARTING DEVICES, FORGETTING DEVICES, TURNING BLUETOOTH ON AND OFF.

I am unable to connect my Macbook air, iPhone or iPad though bluetooth. I have tried all the suggestions I have read. i.e. toggle bluetooth on and off, turn devices on and off, forget devices and then pair. I seem to be able to pair but the devices immediately go to not connected and a message appears that reads: make sure devices are turned on and in range.

Pairing the phone with the car is one thing, but paring to the computer is not generally supported. Tethering is using the cellular data access from the phone for the other devices. It is part of Personal Hotspot. If you aren't aware of what it is, then it probably is something you do not use.
As far as the car is concerned, what is not working? Does the car not see the phone, or the phone see the car, or after you start to pair something fails? If you provide more information about the problem and what you have tried to do to correct it, then we can offer some solutions. What version of the iPhone, what iOS, and what year and make of vehicle?

  • Connecting macbook air to my ipad

I want to connect my Macbook air with my ipad but for some reason they connect recognise each other but won't allow anything to transfer between them. Any ideas?

If you are trying to do this via Bluetooth, there is no support for file transfer over Bluetooth on iPads so the Mac will not find it.
If you need to transfer things between them you need to use iTunes and the provided USB cable that came with the iPad.

  • Macbook air FaceTime camera is horrible

macbook air FaceTime camera is horrible, anyways of doing FaceTime better on this ...

    (1) http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
(Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
    (2) However, first try restarting your Mac, modem and wireless router.
    (3) If restarting does not solve your problem, quit all internet connected apps except the browser and check your internet speed with http://speedtest.net/
Slow internet or having multiple computers, a game box, VOIP box, or even multiple apps on one Mac sharing your bandwidth can cause poor video chat quality.
Whoever you video with should also check their speed.  Video quality depends on speed of the internet connection at BOTH ends.
    (4) You can test your camera's video quality with Photo Booth.
If the picture it makes is better than your FaceTime video, your camera is NOT your problem.
If the images shown by your camera are all blurry, check to see if the lens cover (near the green light) needs to be gently cleaned with a soft cloth -- NO LIQUIDS.

  • HT4783 I can`t connect my MacBook Air to my iPad Air or iPhone 5 through AirDrop

I can`t connect my MacBook Air to my iPad Air or iPhone 5 through AirDrop.
Connection between iPad and iPhone is OK, but  MacBook doesn`t show any of my devices in the vicinity with wiFi is connected.

iOS devices can connect to iOS devices, and OS X devices can connect to OS X devices, but iOS devices cannot connect to OS X devices through AirDrop at this time.

  • Bag that will carry MacBook air 13 AND iPad

Ok. Let me preface this by saying I'm very very particular about my bags and what I'm looking for may not exist but I'll give it a shot. Here's what I'd like:
    1. A backpack format (although messenger or sling would be ok)
    2. Holds MacBook air 13" and iPad
    3. Laptop portion is made for the air (I.e. not "for laptops up to 15", etc.)
    4. Has several small compartments for cables, power brick, mouse, etc.
I've looked all over and can't seem to find anything that fits this bill. There are a TON of bags for larger laptops and some even have iPad slots but I haven't seen one for an air and an iPad.

  • Nice bag for MacBook Air 13" and iPad

I'm looking for a nice, possibly leather, bag to hold my MacBook Air 13" and iPad, both in sleeves, compact enough to 'sneak' on board a plane as an additional piece of hand luggage.  With cross body strap.  I've been looking for ages...  Could anyone recommend something, not too expensive and available in the UK please?  Many thanks, Karen

Yes, I must have laid my hands on a 100 diff. types, the ones i found best made, and most handy (without being extremely expensive) are the INCASE cases.
Same cases Apple stores carry as well.    The insides are fuzzy, theyre well made, and for a 13", cost is $60 US

  • Can you control a MacBook Air with an iPad?

First off I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I teach in a small rural high school that has decided to implement 1-to-1 technology this school year.  All students will be issued an iPad (3rd Gen), and all teachers have been issued an iPad (3rd Gen) along with a MacBook Air (I'm assuming it is whatever generation is currently new).
So here is my conundrum.  Our school does not provide all teachers with a projector to use for presentations and such.  This means that I have to lug around my personal projector if I will need it in class that day.  What I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to control my MacBook with my iPad, while the MacBook is connected to my projector?  Ultimately I would like to be able to walk around my room with my iPad in hand with access to my MacBook and projector set up to control presentations, show things from the internet, or whatever else comes up.
I am assuming there is some way to do this, but I really am not sure where to look since I am still fairly new with the iPad.  I've looked at apps like iTap VNC, but I am unsure if this is what I am looking for or if there is something else to consider.  Any expensive programs (over $20) or equipment is out of the question since I have to pay for it myself and will not be reimbursed.  I am unsure if this matters either, but the school is not providing us with any programs such as Keynote or other presentation programs.  I am currently using Open Office on my MacBook.
I should probably also add that I have seen questions about using the iPad with a MacBook Pro.  I was just unsure if similar solutions would work with this scenario.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

You need a remote app. Look at Team Viewer and Splashtop Remote. Both apps will allow you to control the computer from the iPad. I use Team Viewer a little now and then and you do have to get the hang of the movements and such, but both of the apps are for remote access of your computer.

  • MacBook Air FaceTime Problem:

  • MacBook Air and/or iPad?

Hi! My dilemma is that i already own an iPad 2, and i need to replace my old MacBook Pro (2007). I'm tempted to buy a MacBook Air, but i wonder if it will be worth it to keep the iPad or will the macbook air be enough for my portability/power needs. I'm thinking about selling my iPad in order to have more money for the MacBook Air. Should i have both devices or just one?

Since I got my MBA I rarely visit my iMac any more unless I am doing a project. Mail, the internet, short letters, games are mostly on the MBA. I love it because of the keyboard but my wife doesn't even want to use it because she loves her iPad sooo much. They are different but since you had a MBP you need to make that decision for yourself. When buying the MBA keep in mind you CAN'T upgrade the RAM after purchase. You can however replace the SSD very easily.

  • Setup Airport Extreme for the home wireless - MacBook Air, Pro, and iPad connect just fine.  Wireless will not work to Windows 7 and Vista machines - network seen, tries to connect, but fails after entering WPA key.

Can't get Windows Vista or Windows 7 laptops to access internet via Airport Extreme.  Works fine with security on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad.  Brand new Airport, bought today.  Windows machines worked fine with existing, relatively modern Cisco home router.    The Windows machines see the wireless network, prompt for password, and then cannot connect.  Have tried all sorts of things with Windows machines, deleted existing networks, etc. even tried guest login with no security on the Airport - no luck.  Windows XP machine directly (wire) connected works fine.  Magic Jack works OK.  Light is green on the front.

Thank you very much for your help @Sunshyn2005!!!!! I think we're good to go now!

  • IWork from macbook air mavericks to iPad

    Hello,
I would like to know how to get iwork to my ipad.
Rececntly, last week, I bouth a macbook air at a retail store in Colombia, it comes with iwork, and ilife. I sign in with my apple id, and update the apps, so far no problem. The thing is, its suppose that in my ipad and iphne they should be free to install as well, but in itunes on my macbook air says 9.99, and in the appstore says installed??? no understand how is that posible???
Anyway, my question is how to transfer the iwork to my other devices since in the itunes does not apear like free with my account.
Thanks very much in advance for your help.

The versions of iWork and iLife that you have installed on your Mac are only for Macs, if you want them on your iPad then they are separate purchases - they are different operating systems.
When did you buy and activate your iPad and iPhone ? If you activated them on/after September 1st last year then some of the apps should be free to download (if you are logged in on the iPad/iPhone with the same account that you activate them with) - if it was on/after 1st September then try logging out of your account on your iPad/iPhone (whichever was activated after 1st September) by tapping on your id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if they show as free.
If both the phone and iPad were activated before 1st September then you will need to buy the apps if you want them on them.
    Free apps : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5913
iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated or purchased on or after September 1, 2013.

  • Macbook Air 999$ or iPad 830$

hi there I have a Macbook pro, latest model 15 inch 2.4 ghz, and iPad first model wifi+3g 64 gb. I'm thinking in selling both during the summer to upgrade both. i could sell my macbook pro for around 3000$ in Ecuador, and the iPad for like 775, I'm definetely buying a macbook pro 2012 15 inch, but do you think I should buy the ipad, or the macbook air, im= mean I would barely be wasting $$, I'm looking for portability (i'm a high school student going to junior year) i've taken my macbook pro for presentation and projects but its aching taking the macbook pro + books, the ipad hasn't been a problem, my bag is really light, but my ipad lags a little, sometimes alot with certain animations in keynote, so imma keep it for now. Thanks for any help people.

At that price point, Macbook Air.
I think it would be a bit fairer to compare the $499 iPad to the $999 Macbook Air.
