MacBook Air freezes when connected to the Internet. (LAN and WiFi)

I have a MacBook Air A1304 running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
When it connects to the AirLive Duo router set as Client + AP (bridges the wifi signal from the DSL), it freezes up.
Wifi works fine with the iPad.  I tried the wifi and LAN and I get the same results. I don't even have to be surfing, just being connected to the Internet will freezes the whole MBA after about a minute.
AirLive tested their router with their MacBook for two days but didn't have any problem. I run the latest firmware for the router too.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

Power down the router. Unplug the cord from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug the cord back in. Restart the router.
Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
    Restart the computer.
    Best.

    Try resetting your SMC.

Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.

  • MacBook Air will not connect to the internet

I am trying to assist my wife with her Macbook air (MbA), it will no longer connect to the "internet". BACKGROUND: I am running Century Link DSL Modem, with a Belkin Wireless router.  I have about 10 different nodes on my home network, PC, Apple and Droid devices.  All of which have no issues with access to the internet.  My wife's MbA however will not access the web, it does however connect to my network and get a DHCP assigned IPv4 Address from my network.  I am able to go to addresses and inside my network and serve up http such as my router's web page.  WHAT I HAVE TRYIED: I have flushed/removed all previously connected wireless networks on the MbA and turned off wireless on the device then shutdown and restarted it and reconnected to my SSID (wireless network) = no joy, didn't work.  I have rebooted all of my network equipment = no joy, didn't work.  I have changed the DNS to an address outside my network = no joy, didn't work.  I don't know alot about Mac/apple product, they seem simple and straight forward, and I have been a cisco routrer/switch jockey for about the last 7 years of my carreer.... this one stumps me.   Any ideas? Firewall configuration, is there a "intranet" only box checked somewhere?
PS... I may have miss spelled my words, human communication matters, spelling is over rated.

Power down the router. Unplug the cord from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug the cord back in. Restart the router.
Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
    Restart the computer.
    Best.

  • My mac air will not connect to the internet. There is an exclamation point in the wifi icon and when i go into preferences i see that it is setting its own IP address. I have a macbook that is able to connect with no issue. HELP

My macbook air will not connect to the internet. There is an exclamation point in the wifi icon and when i go into preferences i see that it is setting its own IP address. I have a macbookpro that is able to connect with no issue. HELP

Reset the TC to factory and start again.
Use all SMB type names for wireless and base station.. Not apple type names.. this is more important since Mavericks.
I also recommend different names for the different bands.
    So for example.
TC name.. TCgenx (I use whatever the generation number is for the x.. eg TCgen4 or latest one TCgen5)
    WIreless name.. TC24ghz for 2.4ghz
    TC5ghz for 5ghz
You can also set the channel manually.
If you still have issues.. start with no security and then if it fails to connect there is something seriously wrong with the laptop. Did you upgrade install Mavericks?? That can lead to driver issues.. I would recommend a clean install.

  • Macbook air can't go to the internet when connected with hard disk

Hi, so my macbook air can't go to the internet everytime when it is connected with my hard disk. The wifi icon on the top right corner says my macbook is connected to my wifi but my macbook just can't go to the internet. I unplugged my hard disk and I have no problem connecting to the internet right away? I would like to know if there is any solution for this problem.
    Thank you

  • MacBook can no longer connect to the Internet in anyway

I have a 2007 MacBook which has always connected to the Internet with no problems until the other day I turned it on and could not connect to the Internet.
I have tried Wi-fi and Ethernet and it says it is connected yet when I open my browser (I have tried safari and chrome) it says it cannot connect to the server or, with chrome, the connection attempt was rejected.
I have tried this on my home network and also at work and it is the same.
I've checked my settings against other discussions on the forum and tried things like flushing the cache but no luck!
    Please help!
    Thanks

It is possible that your domain name servers are not functioning. Try using OpenDNS - enter the following in your System Preference > Network > DNS Servers.
    208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
    Best of luck.

  • My MacBook Pro won't connect to the Internet, but my phone and PC will.

My MacBook Pro won't connect to the Internet. My iPhone has no problem doing so, and neither does my PC. I think it's something to do with my DNS, but I'm not sure. My network connections say that both my Ethernet or FireWire are failed. What's wrong with my MacBook? Is there a simple way to fix this?
