Macbook Air Lion OX S 10.7.5 Need to reset second Admin Password

I have three user accounts on my Macbook Air 11-inch (late 2011 model). Two are designated "Admin" in the "Users and Groups"
I changed one user account password, thought I saved the password hint via email to myself and now find I cannot log in either the new password or the older one. It is one of the two user accounts that are designated "Admin"
The other Admin user account works just fine and I have not lost that password. It is the original Admin account that I set up when the computer was new.
FireVault is turned OFF for the disk "Macintosh HD"
If I understand this correctly, since this MB Air has FireVault, I cannot reset the user account password using my Apple ID.
So how do I change the password?
Would I restart by selecting "Recovery disk" at book by holding "Option"?
Or would I restart while holding "Command+ R"?
I've never had to do this before, so I am a bit hesitant to start rebooting with either of the above methods.
Repeating that, yes,  I do have the master password for this Macbook Air. My software is up to date. There are two admin user accounts and I have lost the password to only one of them. Running OS X 10.7.5
Thanks for any help.

Thanks Kurt!  I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close.  I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank.  In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well.  Thanks for your help!

It should just show up on the Desktop or in the side panel. If not check under Finder preferences, General and check the Show these items… CD's DVD's etc.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

OK. Now, you say you got this alert through App Store when trying to download Mavericks or after you downloaded it and were trying to install it? Which is the correct case?
The error you are getting may sometimes occur when the computer has already been updated, but I don't know why you would be getting this message. I can only suggest that you take it in for service to find out why this is happening.

There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from your recovery partition (10.7 or later), a local Time Machine backup volume (10.7.2 or later), or your installation disc (10.6.8 or earlier.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

    1. Should be possible to do that; go to the Utilities menu and select 'reset password' before starting the installer. (while booted from the DVD of course)
    2. Standard installation of SL only replaces system components; applications, user data and preference settings should not be affected.
    3. But you do have a backup just in case, don't you?

  • Macbook Air (Lion) won't connect to Airport Express (and won't remember network)

My new Macbook Air 13, with Lion, will not connect to my Airport Express.  It throws the following error:  "A connection timeout occured"
This Airport Express is setup as a bridge.  So it extends my wireless router.
The new Macbook air sees this setup as 2 seperate WIFI networks.  It will connect to one (the router), but will not connect to the other one (the airport).  It will then not remember the router, so each time it restarts or wakes from sleep, I have to manually reconnect to the correct one.
For reference.  I have 4 other wifi devices in this household.  A win 7 laptop, an IPad 2, an iphone, and a Macbook pro with Leopard.  All 4 of them are working as intended.  They see one wifi network, connect to it (and move between the two points as necessary), and they remember their connections.
    Any thoughts or advice?

Glad it's not just me. I have D-Link and TP-Link routers set up in the same or a similar way. My iPads, iPods and Windows laptops all show a single SSID and switch between them happily. My new 13" Air was showing two networks (2 SSIDs) and wireless was patchy at best. I changed one router to be N only and that improved things somewhat, but still loosing the network. In order to see which router was being used I altered the SSID of one. The "N-only" router is giving the best coverage with a strong signal - but then it just drops out and the wireless icon shows "Searching". Turning wifi off then back on fixes the connection.
When it comes to internet browsing my iPad 2 is significantly faster than the Air.
I'm also having trouble keeping or attaining connections to my Windows shares, drop-out, even when I still have internet connectivity.
