MacBook Air Mid 2014 but shows Mid 2013

I just received my MacBook Air yesterday, the latest 1.4GHz i5 processor, customized to 8GB ram, and after setting it up and installing/updating everything i need (took me whole night to that), I looked into "About This Mac" and it says there "Mid 2013", everything else in System Report is as per the latest model. I checked the box before I opened, and everything is also as per specification, but I would assume it should say "Mid 2014".
I'm on the phone with Apple Support as I type, earlier was on the online support chat, and they were as baffled how did this happen. They even offered a replacement but I will need to send it back. Now that I am on the phone with them, the only explanation they gave me is that, ALL the new MacBook Air's says "Mid 2013", that indicates hardware date, despite them being "new". And assured me there's no issue with it.
I argued that depreciates the value of the MacBook Air almost immediately, and I felt cheated buying a 2014 model but instead I got 2013 hardware! And since I have been on hold for 20 minutes at least, while they check. A senior advisor came on and explained, that as there were no major changes in the MacBook Air, it is still Mid 2013 model BUT the specifications are 2014.
Based on that explanation, I assume EVERY MacBook Air with the 1.4GHz processor that was released this year, should say Mid 2013. BUT if there is even one that says 2014, I believe every owner would want one. And I stressed to the support personnel that if at any time I find one that says 2014, I will refer back to this case and demand for a replacement.
So if other owners would just post your "About This Mac" and verify this explanation, for the benefit of everyone.

I am having the same exact issue. I thought the reason might be because my customized version which has a 1.7 Ghz Core i7 is the same processor as the mid-2013 models. However in looking at some other posts online people with customized versions that have 8 GB of memory are having the same issue, even if their processor is the 1.4 Ghz Core i5 which is only included in the early 2014 models.
They Early-2014 Models came out on April 29th 2014, and looking at my serial number you can see that my computer was made AFTER that date.
There are however computers that show do Early 2014 such as the MacBook Air in this unboxing video.

What's interesting is the computer in the video was made BEFORE mine (from the serial number) yet it shows as newer in Apple's system
Now I have seen some posts indicating that apple will fix this issue via an update, however it is NOT just a software issue but also an issue in Apple's computer systems
If I look my device up on https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
It shows as a mid-2013 Model, whereas if I look up the MBA in the YouTube unboxing it shows as an early 2014.
I really hope Apple fixes this, I have spoken with managers at two Apple Retail stores and they offered to exchange my device within the return period, but I have yet to have gotten a chance to head over, I will likely within a day or two.

I had this problem on my iMac and fixed it after a half hour of frustrated trying. I had changed my Apple ID on my iPad mini while traveling. When I finally got back home after a few months, I couldn't log in to iTunes on my iMac. The old Apple ID was still being used on my iMac. I tried just highlighting it and deleting it and typing in my new Apple ID. No dice. The login just defaulted to my old Apple ID. I tried clicking on the drop down menu that appears when you right right click your Apple ID that appears at the top of the page after highlighting the 'iTunes Store" in the left side list. I saw "account" so I clicked on that. The "account" settings on my iMac showed my new Apple ID but my iMac wouldn't use it. It just kept defaulting to my old ID. I shut down. I logged back in. Same result. Finally I right clicked the same drop down menu and saw "sign out" at the bottom of the list. Even though I was not signed in to iTunes, I clicked "sign out". My next log in to iTunes showed my Apple ID as blank and I was able to type in my new ID. Hope this helps.
I am a long time 20 year Microsoft user. I am somewhat ( 1 year) new to Apple. With Microsoft, I found that fixing problems was clunky and complex, but there was always a post somewhere that explained the fix. Microsoft's explanations stated even the most obvious fact. Even if everyone knew that the sky was blue, Microsoft's instructions would still tell you that the sky was blue. With Apple, I find that the obvious is sometimes not so obvious. But the fix is almost always easy once you find it, without many of the elaborate maneuvers needed in Windows.

Storage information on MacBook air early 2014 seems to be weird.

Hi!... got a tiny problems here so umm can u guys figure it out.
I've done everything including reinstall Yosemite 10.10 to get this matter out of my mind
The problems is the storage is showing app storage is 91.85GB but my flash storage is only 121GB then how come it still available 89.51GB free?
and also my apps folder tells me that it only contains just 13.46GB. Also it should be the "other" indicator storage too, but where is it? because
before it was supposed to be there.
This problems occurs after i turn off the filevault. After knowing this happening then i did turn back on and it gives me the same results.
If not mistaken, the FileVault on os x Yosemite is defaultly enable when the installation process is done i guess.
is it a bug on Yosemite or what?
is it had to do with the filevault inside the system preference?
What should i do? help! please......

I went to icare twice and they game me the device back after 1-2 weeks saying it is now not giving any issue but when i will used it next morning again same thing happened. It's like i can never go out anywhere with the laptop outside as i have to first charge it and then turn it on. Icare wont replace my device they only say if there is any issue with the hardware we will replace that hardware but i think it is useless because they don't know what the issue is. Can someone help me out what to do now ? It's been to iCare ever since i bought it now i don't want them to again do the same thing.

Is the USB devices a USB2 or USB3 device? Please run Disk Utility Repair. In some cases, re-installing OS X (which does not modify your files) also addresses this issue.

MacBook Air 11 2014 Wifi Issues After Sleep

I know that people have reported their wifi taking a long time to establish a connection after sleep. I thought I would test my brand new MacBook Air 11 2014 by closing the lid for several hours to see what happens. When I opened the lid, the wifi signal was full and not greyed out like other people have reported. However, my internet was dead. Could not connect to websites or find my iTunes library on my other Mac. In order to get it working again I have to switch the wifi off, then back on again. I'm not 100% sure why I am reporting this as it seems to be a big issue with Mavericks. Its just the majority have reported the wifi logo being greyed out and taking a long time to find its corresponding network.

I was wondering if the Macbook air early 2014 13 inch models have either a 4K display or the ability to play 2160p?

The only Mac which has got a 4K or bigger display is the 5K Retina iMac. However, neither the display nor the GPU of the MacBook Air support such a big display resolution

i wanty to know if the 13 inches macbook air model 2014 run hot or not for avrage user.
like browsing, microsoft office or watching movies.
for those cases, does this machine run hot in a way you cant put it in your lap or not comfortable?

Mine has started running hot almost as soon as I open it up. The battery life is down to about and hour and a half of continuous running because the fan is going constantly! Anyone have any ideas???

Mid 2013 Macbook Air fully charged but wont power on

Used my computer after 2.5 weeks and it powered on just fine - then suddenly shut off and restarted. Then it soon shut off and didnt power on again. Thought the battery had drained out so i charged it - in some time the led went from orange to green, yet it still didn't power on.
Took it to an Apple authorized service center here in my town and they diagnosed -
" Tried SMC and PRAM reset.Check with known good power adapter
mac not powering on.Check with minimal config same issue.Try to
reseat the top case same issue.Tried to reseat the Main logic board
same issue persists.No sign of physical and liquid damage.Hence need
to replace the Main logic board under exchange price. "
Saying it costs almost as much money to buy a new laptop....... And i didn't extend my AppleCare (i know, i know.. i forgot! Thought i'd wait till the end of year 1.).

Below is the repair Genius Bar Work Confirmation resulting from my mid 2013 MBA 1.7GHz 8GB RAM 512 GB SSD machine that was failing to start-up with or without power attached. The conclusion was it needed a new logic board. After upgrading to yosemite macbook air(mid 2011) cannot connect to macbook air(early 2014) via airdrop

last night i upgraded mine and my wife macbook air to yosemite.
before, we can share files with airdrop easily but now the mba (early 2014) can not send file to the other one , also the old one

I currently have a 2010 MBP with 4 GB , 2.4 GHz and a 250 GB hard drive.
I want to get a new macbook because mine is slowing down since i got mavericks.
Also i am a college student.
Anyways, My options are:
13 inch macbook AIR (2014) with upgraded ram to 8 GB (1040$) with student discount
OR
13 inch macbook pro Retina (2013 late) the middle configuration with 8 GB of ram and 256 storage for (1400$) with discount.
I use my laptop for:
1) Surfing the web ( email, youtube, facebook, twitter) and normally have like 20 tabs open or something.
2) Facetime / skype
3) itunes
4) movies
5) Microsoft office
all these while MULTITASKING so probably i will be doing 4 of the above 5 tasks of these at once, probably 1,2,3 and 5.
I DO NOT use imovie or garageband, maybe very minor uses related to college once or twice a year doing 3 minute videos for a project or so.
I DO NOT game on it, or i will use my older MBP to play Diablo 3.
WHICH IS BETTER?!?! WILL the AIR be slow ?? will the 1.4 GHZ proc be too slow ? is the retina any good or worth extra $$ ??

I have though of upgrading My mbp also has battery issues, and in total upgrades to ssd, ram and new battery and new charger will cost me around 600+ dollars. Basically as if i am building a new computer !
I honestly want to upgrade to a lighter computer with newer technology all around , but ill still keep my mbp as a sort of "desktop" computer at home, plugged to the power.
Can you please tell me about your experience with the MBA? the screen quality, heat issues , speed , performance ( to my needs) ? Did u get the 2013 or the 2011 only ?
