MacBook Air no longer connecting to monitor via HDMI after recent update.

Hi all,
My MacBook air typically has no issues connecting to my external ASUS monitor via Thunderbol-HDMI port. However, after the recent Mavericks OSX update that was pushed a couple days ago, my monitor says that there is no signal. My MacBook air screen flickers slightly once connected (typical behavior, as it begins to mirror the screen on a scaled resolution shortly there after) but then nothing happens.
How can I fix this?
Thank you!

Welcome to Apple Discussions
Try System Preferences->Energy Saver:Automatic graphics switching (Deselect the checkbox).
If that doesn't work you might try changing the resolution and refresh rate for the monitor in System Preferences->Displays, or downloading an app called SwitchResX (shareware) and lowered the resolution just slightly .
One other solution if possible - restore to time before update from backup.

  • Macbook air will not connect to iphone via bluetooth

States: The Bluetooth network is unavailable.
When setting up both the macbook and the iphone 'see' each other and appear to authorize but the iphone then states 'Connection Unsuccessful "Macbook Air" is not supported'. I have an old iPhone 2 3G and am hoping this is NOT the problem. :-(
If anyone can help that would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

  • MacBook Air 2011 cannot connect to Wi-Fi properly after repair

    Hi,
Recently I took my 2011 MacBook Air into an Apple Store where they replaced the SSD with a fresh one loaded with Mavericks. When I started it up in the Apple Store it found their local Wi-Fi properly. However, when I try to connect it to my Wi-Fi at home (with WPA2E security), it does not work properly.
The symptoms are rather strange: it appears to connect to DHCP on the router and receive an IP address. I've tried changing the IP address on the DHCP server and the IP on the MacBook Air changes appropriately so it is getting a proper DHCP connection and the data recieved is correct. However after this it is unable to actually do anything on the network. It can't even ping the router at 192.168.1.1, and everything else fails for lack of DNS.
When I try to use Network Diagnostics it acts rather strangely - it asks me several times for my Wi-Fi password, then the lights turn green up until "ISP" which remains red. Then, all three lower lights turn green for a moment and Diagnostics gives the message "your internet connection is working properly" even though the lights from ISP down all turn red again straight away. Because of the odd password behaviour I tried enabling the "allow all applications to access this" option in Keychain Access, but this didn't change anything.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi hyperphase,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're not able to connect to the internet or your router at home, you may want to use the steps quoted below, and check the settings against those mentioned in this article:
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4199
Before configuring or adjusting specific settings, perform the following steps:
Ensure that your Wi–Fi router's firmware is up to date.
If you are using a Wi–Fi base station, refer to this article for information on how to update it.
Verify that all Wi–Fi devices you intend to use support the settings recommended in this article.
If possible, back up your current Wi–Fi router's settings.
If necessary, refer to the product documentation or manufacturer's website.
Forget or remove the Wi-Fi settings for your network from any devices that connect to your Wi-Fi router. (This will prevent the devices from attempting to connect to your network with the old configuration.) You will need to reconnect these devices to your network once you've finished applying the new settings.
Configure all Wi–Fi base stations on the same network with the same settings. Not doing so will cause connectivity and reliability issues. On dual-band Wi–Fi base stations, configure both bands to have the same settings unless otherwise noted below.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • Galaxy S3 no longer connects to PC via USB after 4.3 Update

Can anyone else verify on the Verizon JB4.3 update, that connecting their Galaxy S3
to their PC, only initiates charging, but no longer makes the connection for data transfers.
Developer Mode is active, and USB Debugging checked.

I ran into this problem last night.  At least,  I wish that I could call it a problem -- and not a catastrophe
I am in the middle of programming for a delivery next week... and all of a sudden i can no longer connect to transfer executables.   I did not agree to be disconnected; but then I didn't agree to the update either.  I am sure there is some legalese that verizon will use... but it boils down to this....
Let's say that my lawyer, who I will be talking to next week - goes out to get in his car to go into court... that's his job.. it's how he makes his money.   But on this particular morning.... he pushes the button to start the car and nothing happens... because the car did an update during the night.
I "pushed the button" and nothing happened.   I made sure the debugger options were unhidden and selected.  Still.. next week I get to talk with my investors and explain why I can't show them something.
    Thanks Verizon.

  • My macbook air takes longer time to shut down even after having 32GB of free space in it.

    Please give me solution fast.

And that's tested with your Mac? That's fast (I only get about 23Mbps with my ISP!).
You should have no trouble with slow page loading. You might want to change your DNS's through the Network panel in System Preferences. I would try the OpenDNS servers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
If that doesn't help, call back...

If a PRAM reset fails to help, an appointment at the Apple store genius bar would be the next option.

  • Macbook Air hangs when connected to an external main monitor

I have a Macbook Air the I connect to an external monitor as a main monitor using an HDMI to DVI cable. The configuration is equivalent to the LED display from Apple. The system works correctly while I am using it, but when it gets sleep, the system is unable recognize the external mouse/keyboard, and it hangs. I have disconnected the external monitor, disconnected and reconnected the USB and nothing works. The only way to recover the computer is to halt it using the power button and power it on another time.
I have also put the computer to not sleep if it is connected to mains. It still sleeps.
Does any one know how to solve this problem?

    I do not know.
What I know is that if I suspend the machine, it recovers correctly, but if it suspends itself, it is not able to return to normal activity. It seems like it is unable to remember that it has to use the external monitor and peripherals in the second case.

  • Macbook Air will not connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet

Macbook Air will not connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet? Any ideas why not and how to fix this problem?

Power down the router. Unplug the cord from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug the cord back in. Restart the router.
Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
    Restart the computer.
    Best.

  • My new Macbook air won't connect to my Vizio HDTV.

My new Macbook Air won't connect to my Vizio VO32LF HDTV.  I bought a mini-displayport to HDMI cable to connect the two.  When I connect the cable, and switch to the appropriate HDMI input on the TV, my Macbook Air screen will flash blue for a second, and then return to normal.  The TV reports it's unable to find a signal.  I use the HDTV as my primary monitor, so I'd really appreciate some help on getting the two to place nicely together!

    Cp,
Thanks for the reply. However, it appears that the issue is not with the hotspot, but with the network settings in the MacBook Air as every other device I have (including non-Apple devices) will connect to the iPhone hotspot. Another symptom is that my MacBook Air can find my iMac (and other network devices) on my wireless network, but the iMac can't find the MacBook Air.

About Mavericks I could set my 4K monitor via HDMI on 2560x1440.
This I can not get through at Yosemite. Can someone help me there?

They really pushed that it would all work great! Has anyone had the same struggle? Are there any step-by-step instructions to get linked up?
Call Verizon's wireless tech support & explain your problem to them.  They will provide "step-by-step" instructions over the phone.
    Take notes too!
TIP:  If you do call & don't want to go through all those darn promps, when you initially call, just don't say anything.  The automatic voice will then say,  "will connect you to a service rep."

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.

The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be for FREE!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.
