MacBook Air shows white screen at login
When I turn my MacBook on, it shows my login and lets me choose a user. I type in my password, and it freezes for a while, tells me I "shut down my computer because of a problem," then the screen goes white. I've tried flashing the PRAM, restarting it over and over again, nothing seems to work. It's still responsive, I can move my cursor around and if I press the power button, the little menu shows up.

My Macbook Pro Showing White Screen At startup
Macbook pro showing white screen after loading window
i think its not booting to hdd
What shoud i do??
Message was edited by: Krishnaraj7777Krishnaraj7777,
you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Do you get past the white screen now? -
Windows 8 on Macbook Air went blank screen at login page
Installed Windows 8 on my MBA. It was working perfectly fine until today, whereby the login page went blank/blank screen on me and it seems as though it went to sleeping mode. Mac OS working fine and managed to get into safe mode on windows. Any help on this? friend suggested that my bootcamp crashed, thus the blank/empty screen but i have no idea what to do as of now as I'm not good with IT.
It is not your BC Windows, but your screen brightness that may be causing problems. Please plug in your Power Adapter, and press the Shift key when Windows is up an running. You can start Windows from OS X System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> Bootcamp -> Restart.
Please also see Re: Windows 8 display is turned off at startup - cannot login - Stuck pls help. -
My MacBook Air is stuck on the login screen, each
My MacBook Air is stuck on the login screen, each time I enter the password it stops (but does reject an incorrect password)
Restore OS X.
If your Mac has v10.7, v10.8, or v10.9 installed, startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can restore OS X using OS X Recovery
For OS X prior to v10.7, boot from your install disc while holding down the C key. -
I made a mistake in my macbook air now in my macbook air showing windows how can i put it back again to macbook air
You need to provide a lot more detail as to what you did.
Were you setting up bootcamp?
Did you blindly install Windows without using bootcamp?
If you set up bootcamp, press and hold the option key when you hear the start up bong until the screen shows both operating systems. You can then select the one that you want. -
Macbook air freezes in screen save mode (Mid 2011 model using Mountain Lion
My MacBook Air freezes during screen save mode & is completely unresponsive. The only option is to press & hold the power button to force a power down then restart the laptop. This issue is not intermittent but happens every time the laptop is in screen save mode for any length of time (+20 mins).
The laptop is a Mid 2011 model. 1.8 GHz i7, 250 GB solid state HD, 13" display with 4 GB RAM. I updated to Mountain Lion latest version about 1 month ago.Hi there. I'm not using any 3rd party screen saver software, only the standard Mountain Lion supplied stuff.
I did have to get the Genuis Guys to reset my SMC as my battery, fan & power lead were showing problems. Those issues are now solved but this has persisted.
I am considering a reinstal of the OS system but that is a 1 hour download following by ?? hours of waiting for the program to restart.
I'll try using one of the other screen saver options to test that.
Thanks for that idea. -
Mavericks white screen after login
After upgrading to Mavericks my MacBook now goes to a white screen after login screen. Anybody having same issue? Any solutions?
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -

What version of OS X are you using? If Yosemite, you need to update to 10.10.1 or higher.
In any case, start by going to the editor preferences>general, clicking this button and restarting the editor: -

My macbook pro shows blank screen when I started . (It's like in same state when power off. ) fan sound and hard disk is running. So i connected it Through external monitor via mini display to VGA cable. I can see everything on external monitor. My display of Mac needs to change? How much it cost ?? I found so many forum discussion said that if nvedia card is faulty then its happen...let me know suggestions...I given it to apple care service station n they r telling yr display needs to change its cost me a lot.. I can't afford. And can't spend that much for 3 yr old version as new versions of macbook pro is cost vice reasonable.. can I have any suggestion?
If running 10.7 or later hold down Command-R at Startup.
This should invoke recovery Mode.
Choose Disk Utility.
Select your Hard drive. Inspect the SMART Status in the lower right of the window for "Verified".
Select the Mac OS X Volume (originally Macintosh HD) click (Repair Disk)
If errors, run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.
Report any error messages. -
