Macbook Air stays at starting screen

Hi, My Macbook Air won't start. It turns on, but only stays in the starting screen with the Apple logo. What's wrong? What can I do?
Thanks

To find out the version, click on the Apple menu icon, and select "about this Mac".
It should bring up a box which shows the version number.
10.7.x = Lion = Recovery Partition (built in)
10.6.x = Snow Leopard = USB Recovery Flash drive
10.5.x = Leopard = DVD System disk (will need an external DVD drive, such as Superdrive for Air)

    Hey Msazama30,
First, I would start off your troubleshooting by following the steps in this link:

pls help me how to reboot my macbook air,.. because starting it up was not successful. the screen just turns blue after the apple logo appeared.

i know loads of people who have had this problem including me.  The Java script update apparently had some virus that has overloaded the start up disk.   I took to apple who said i have to have the machine rebuilt but first i have to go to a data recovery company to get back everything that was on it.  Data recovery company have quoted me nearly £1000.

  • I have a Macbook Air and the start up disk is full so it won't boot up.  How can I get it to boot so I can delete files?

I have a Macbook Air and the start up disk is full so it will not boot up.  How can I boot it up so I can delete some files?

You will have to see about booting it from another drive or USB flash drive or another computer. When you are able to then see the following:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Just turned my macbook air on and the screen is white except for what looks like a camera with a question mark flashing.  any ideas what to do?

turned by macbook air on and the screen is white with a question mark flashing and nothing else on the screen. will not boot up.

Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer was running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier and you reach the third set of steps, insert a Mac OS X install disk or connect the computer's original thumbdrive.

My macbook air doesn't start after being for 2 months off? What can i do?

Plug it in and leave it on the charger for about 5 minutes then try to turn it on. If that doesnt work, contact apple and have it sent out for repair or take it to your local apple store. they will probably cover it for free if no physical damage has been done.

  • My MacBook air won't start? Black screen

I closed my MacBook air and when I opened it again it won't start. I tried to reboot it but the screen stays black. I hear the ventilators turn slowly when I try to turn it on but nothing else happens. The light on the macsafe charger is on. A few hours earlier the charger won't work but the MacBook worked well. After a while it worked again and I charged the computer and surfed on it without the charger later. It happened a little later. I tried to reset the PRAM and the SMC but the screen still stays black. I tried to start it with a external hard drive but nothing. I tried to connect an other screen but still nothing. I'm desperate!
I have an appointment at the genius bar next Tuesday but I hope it will start again until then.
What can it be. Is it possible that the charger had a diffect and that something overheat?
Thanks in advance for your help. And sorry for my English, I'm french.

  • MacBook Air stuck on start-up screen - cannot login

Macbook Air - 3 months old. It was shut down ok but now when trying to login the username and password fields remain blank when typing in. After hitting a few keys it acts like one key is stuck (it isn't) and random characters get input into the field until it reaches the field limit. This after touching a key, any key, once.
The result is that obviously it is impossible to login. I have checked with an external keyboard and the same behaviour is present. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Not really possible to troubleshoot or fix it if login is impossible.

  • Macbook air has a blue screen on start up

    Hi,
My macbook air freezes on a blue screen on startup. I can see the cursor, but nothing else happens. Before this occured, the colourful "spinning wheel" used to come up with almost every application that I ran (for instance when writing documents).
I have a very basic understanding for these technical things, so I appreciate all the help I can get!
    Thanks!

This might be very easy to fix. Restart your computer and hold the shift key until the grey Apple appears. This is a safe boot. It checks the hard drive, deletes some caches, and loads only the essential drivers. If your computer boots to the Finder immediately restart it. With luck problem solved.

  • My MacBook Air won't start up, only black screen no logo

I've had my MacBook Air since Christmas 2014. I have not spilt anything on it, I have not dropped it and the charger isn't broken.
Yesterday my computer wouldn't turn on, it was working the day before so I don't know why this was happening. When I turn on I mean:
    Press the turn on key
I hear the chime for it to turn on
    then all of a sudden
no logo only black screen and then nothing after it.
I really don't want to reset it because it has all my school work on it and very important pictures on it.
Is there anyway we can fix it? I've looked on this website many times and others and nothing has really helped.
If you have anything new please reply ASAP.
I need this fixed within 2 weeks.
    Thank you.
