Macbook air turned off without warning?
Hi! Last night my macbook air turned off without warning and wouldn't turn back on until I tried again this morning. A few weeks ago I had my battery and logic board replaced and since then it the screen has gone blue for a few seconds and then back to normal a few times, (in case this is related at all). Is there something I should do to make sure this doesn't happen again.
As you say it is just been repaired I would take it back to the place that repaired it and ask them to look at it.

Connecting Apple TV device and Macbook Air (early version) without using a TV
Hei,
I am trying to set up my home cinema using a projector and not a TV. I have a Macbook Air early 2011 version (the one where you can only stream directly from Itunes and use a third party device to play the rest) that I am trying to connect this device to the apple tv device - but as said without using a tv. I have speakers with a console where you can run an optical digital cable from the console to the Apple TV (as this will then give me sorround sound as opposed to the airport express that has not got this option). However my computer and projector is on the other side of the room so I want to be able to wirelessly connect to my speakers via my computer.
All set up guides with the apple tv involves connecting the apple tv device and a TV with an HDMI cable. As I am not using a TV and I am not connecting the apple tv device and my projector only aiming to stream sound to the speakers to the Apple TV device I am at a loss in terms of what I need to do. Can anybody help?
Thank you!
LeneAirplay requires both devices to be connected to the same network (wired or wireless).

I just got the latest MacBook Air this week. And after reading the discussion here https://discussions.apple.com/message/22294118#22294118 I chose not to calibrate it the first time since it shouldn`t be necessary with lithium-based batteries.
The thing that still confuses me about the calibration issue with the Macbook Air (Mid 2013) is the text I`ve underlined below from Apples page and where they are talking about lithium-based batteries:
http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
"Standard Maintenance
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her notebook on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month. Need a reminder? Add an event to your desktop’s iCal. When your battery no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs, you may choose to replace it. If your notebook came with a built-in battery, you should have the battery replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider."
So when Apple is talking about discharging, how should I actually discharge it? If discharging a lithium-based battery completely is harmful for the battery life, then what is the ideal way to do this without harming the battery? How should I discharge my battery when the calender says it`s time?Calibration is not needed for "built-in" -non-removable- battery.
"Portables with built-in batteries
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider."

MacBook Air to TV via HDMI...No Audio?
How to get audio on tv when Macbook Air is directly connected via MiniDisplay adapter to HDMI /TV.....? Only have video at this point??

Are you using this particular dongle? I've had trouble with some of these OEM adapters in the past. However, you can't beat the pricing if it works (I think the Apple version is $29). -
Resotoring Macbook Air Model A1237 without USB
Hello, I need assistance restoring my MacBook Air Model A1237 back to factory settings. It's a 2008 model and unfortunitely i've misplaced my USB retore drive. Can I please have assistance restoring my laptop without the USB? Thank you in advance!
AlexThat's not possible. Phone AppleCare and order a replacement; if you have an external SuperDrive and don't need iLife or the Apple Hardware Test, you can use a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD instead.

Can you help me? Thank you.Hi,
I am having the same problem on my Macbook Pro. I only get the issue at home. I use a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter as well as an external thunderbolt display. I actually bought the thunderbolt to ethernet adapter as a replacement for a non-Apple Sitecom USB 3 to ethernet in order to get rid of the random crashes. It did not help! Here is the report:

Connecting MacBook Air to TV via HDMI
From the message boards, it looks like the $45 mini-DVI to HDMI cable I bought will simply not work on my MBA. How very frustrating. The MBA is not detecting my Samsung display as an external display at all. I refuse to believe that this doesn't work. Has anyone been able to get this to work?
(I bought a Belkin brand cable.)
Thank you.X423424X wrote:

Are you using this particular dongle? I've had trouble with some of these OEM adapters in the past. However, you can't beat the pricing if it works (I think the Apple version is $29). -
How to display my iPad 2 on my macbook air's screen WITHOUT using AirPlay?
I want to know how to do this using a "wired" solution. I understand I can achieve this via aps that access AirPlay but it can be unreliable with spotty wifi connections.
Make sure your iPad and iPhone are running iOS 6 (required to have a "unified" phone number for iMessage). Also make sure your phone number is listed on your phone number is listed under You can be reached by iMessage at and Start new conversations from on your iPhone in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive.
If it still isn't working, on your iPad, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in. Confirm that you phone number is now listed.
On your Mac open Messages and go to Preferences>Accounts, choose you iMessage ID on the left, then on the right, click Sign Out, then sign back in, make sure you check Enable this account, and that your phone number is now listed and checked under You can be reached by iMessage at. -
MacBook Air Thunderbolt shipped without System Restore USB key
I just received my new 13" MBA 2011 Thunderbolt and it doesn't come with a System Restore USB key. Anyone else?
I know Lion has a System Restore partition, but that doesn't help if I'm planning on upgrading the SSD with one of these:
http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_ExpressYou can always make your own, by following instructions like these:
http://subrosasoft.com/blog/2011/07/create-a-bootable-mac-os-x-10-7-lion-flash-d rive/
And apparently Apple will be selling USB keys with Lion on them in a month or two. -
Question about macbook air connecting to the tv
Hi there,
I have a macbook air and a non-HDMI tv I recently procured from Goodwill. What do I need to buy in terms of cords, etc... to connect my Mac to my tv?
Thanks! You should also ask this in the MacBook Air forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

Which inspection camera to use with my MacBook Air?
This question relates to inspection cameras also known as snake cameras, endoscopes, borescopes or fiberscopes.
I want to buy an inspection camera which sits at the end of a cable perhaps 2-3m in length. I want to plug it straight into the USB port of my MacBook Air running 10.8.5.
It should have an illuminated tip and reasonably good resolution so that I can inspect areas under floorboards and within cavity walls. A waterproof version for use within a drain would be a bonus. It does not have to be medical grade.
I have spent hours trawling the web trying to find a suitable device.
I see several cameras most which seem to originate from China which (a) are reviewed as having poor resolution and (b) require software installation from a Chinese CD. Neither fill me with great confidence.
Surely somewhere out there this is a device which is of reasonable quality and will plug-in to my MacBook Air and work without having to load unverified software. For the avoidance of doubt I don't mind paying for and loading software as long as it's from a trusted source.
All help much appreciated.Did your search find this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Endoscope-Borescope-Inspection-Camera/product-r eviews/B004ZWFOEQ
I don't have it and am suspicious of how well a $20 inspection camera will function, but it was the very first one I found with a review from a Mac user.
Be sure to read the review written by "Paul Manning"... -
Is there an SDXC adaptor for Macbook Air 11
Is there an SDXC adaptor for Macbook Air 11
For computers without a built-in camera card reader, you can purchase one for use
with a USB port. So long as the adapter is qualified for use with SDXC, it should work.

Macbook air suddenly doesnt turn on, gives 1 long beep every 5 seconds
I have been googling and found out there is something wrong with the RAM in my Macbook Air. Suddeny, without anything strange I did, my Macbook Air doesn't go on but stays black and gives a long single beep every 5 seconds. That is really all it does.
Does this really mean all I can do is go to an apple store and get a whole new board?
I hope some of you have alternative answers :-). Many thanks!
What a great week, both my Ipad and Macbook Air are dying....Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. If there are no Apple Stores then call for an appointment or just take it in with you.

MacBook Air default function keys
On F5 and F6 there is a designation to decrease and increase something. I'm getting the feeling that these keys are not available on the MacBook Air, in fact they are not present on my bluetooth keyboard I use on my Mac Mini. I am curious what there function would be and what device they are used for?
F5/F6 keys are there to decrease/increase keyboard backlight.
There are some models of Macbook Air that came without keyboard backlight.
So those keys are not "functional" in those models.

Encoding in OC4J 9.0.2.0.0
Until now we have been using OC4J 1.0.2.2.1. When parsing an XML-document (UTF-8) this works just fine. Now we are trying to use the developers preview version (9.0.2.0.0). It seems like the default encoding here is UTF-16. This gives us some problem
