MacBook Air usb not working needs reinstalling os

My MacBook Air mid 2012's USB port is not working. I mistakenly formatted the hard drive. Now I need to reinstall OS Lion but the flash doesn't work and I don't have a backup to restore from. Any help please

Is Internet Recovery working ?.
If Command R doesn't work, try Command Option R

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.

  • Macbook air speaker not working

I recently discovered that the right speaker to my Macbook Air isn't working... I've tried:
checking sliders in Sound System Preference
    checking MIDI Utility
    zapping the PRAM
    resetting all prefs (using Onyx)
removing the bottom to look for a loose connection
Nothing's worked - anybody got any clever ideas how I might fix this (and, no - I don't have extended AppleCare). Thanks!

  • Why my macbook air camera not working? Neither Photo Booth nor Face time.

I have not been able to use Face Time, Photo Booth and Skype as the camera of my Macbook air is not responding? Any solution guys? Will appreciate the answers from the people who have experienced this problem and have solved it successfully.

I had this same problem, and the way i have resolved it was by doing a back up for the Time Machine. Hadn't done that in 190 days and after I did it my camera work after a sleep for the first time in months.

  • Macbook air either not working or working very very slowly on wireless

At home I have 2 laptops: a macbook air and a compaq presario v6000. The macbook air is either working very slowly with the eircom broadband, or else not working at all. The presario works at a good speed and  is consistent. The air is fine on all other networks. Strangely, download speeds are normal nbut nothin else is normal.
I'm running OS X if that matters

Power off the router. Wait awhile. Power it back on. Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
    It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode

  • The USB ethernet adapter for the macbook air is not working. Cable unplugged. How can I fix this for the recent patch 10.7.2?

I have recently purchased an ethernet usb adapter for the MBA and after a month it is not working. Says cable unplugged.
Now I have tried it with 2 other connections on other computers that are working and still no response. Many reviews or fixes online mention something with a 10.5.5 patch that seems quite outdated and do not work. Anyone figure out how to fix this or do I have a broken adapter?

I've used Apple's adaptor on a mini MBA without a problem.

  • Macbook Air camera not working with Jabber and Skype

New Macbook Air (2013) and the camera does not recognize Skype or Jabber (Cisco product). Unbelievable that Apple does this but any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

    See this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5306216?tstart=0
    FIX:
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

  • Macbook Air camera not working or even being recognised in ANY application!

I was trying to fix a problem with the camera on my Macbook Air because it was not working with my skype. After trying (not successfully) so solve this by following an online instruction, somehow I have made matters worse and now NONE of my cameras are working or even being recognised anymore! Somehow I think I have deleted or moved or done something to one of the plugins and can't work out how to fix this. Any suggestions?

    (1) Restart Mac, repair permissions, then download and install OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo) (even if you have already updated.)  Repair permissions again immediately following the restart that completes the Combo update.  Test camera function.  If you encounter a problem with third-party software like Skype, test more than one Apple camera app in more than one user account.
    (2) If your problem continues, use OS X Recovery to reinstall Mac OS X Mountain Lion.  Then use  > Software Update… to verify that all your software is up to date.  Install any needed updates and repair permissions one more time.

  • MacBook Air superdrive not working 10.7.1

    Hello,
I have been working on two Macbook Airs. One has 10.7.1 on it and the other had 10.7.0 on it. I can get the one with 10.7.0 to upload up the cd but not the 10.7.1. I updated the 10l.7.0 computer to 10.7.1 and now its having the same issue. I have tried connection the superdrive in both of the ports on the 2 computers. I tried another super drive and also go the same problem. Has anyone else seen this?
    Thanks,
    Topher Nadauld

I can confirm this behavior. My suspicion is that Apple is using a non-standard implementation of the USB interface to power the DVD drive. I don't think that the USB spec provides enough power for the drive.
The drive will not work in Mac OS X or Windows if it is plugged into a USB hub.

  • Bootcamp on Macbook Air: USB not possible?

    Hi all,
I am currently trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Air (Late 2010, running with OS X 10.10.3). Since the macbook air doesn't have a DVD-drive, bootcamp should provide the possibility to create a bootable version of Windows on an USB-Drive, as far as I know.
My problem is, that bootcamp doesn't offer such an option on my mac. It just gives me the message that a DVD/CD-Drive is required to continue with the installation of Windows (which is not available on a Macbook Air).
I would be glad if someone could help me to solve this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Dennis

If you are not offered a choice to create USB, you will need to find an external Apple SuperDrive to install Windows.

  • Macbook Air clickers not working?

suddenly, my Macbook Air clickers both (right and left) in the bottom of the Trackpad not working? Please help

FYI, there is only one clicker in the middle of the trackpad. Getting debris down the side of the trackpad may cause this. You should consider calling Apple or carrying the computer in, it may need a repair.

  • MacBook Air internet not working

I have a MacBook Air and just the past couple days the internet is not working correctly. I go to Facebook and I can't scroll the screen or click anything. Other sites work for a bit then stop. I don't know if I have a virus or what is going on please help me. Also I had to use my iPhone to write this because of course my computer wasn't working.

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Log out and log back in. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
