Macbook air won't turn on and the screen will go white. It says that the start up disk is full. HELP

When I turn my macbook air on it sends me a message saying that my start up disk is full and that I have to free up some space. When I log in into my account the screen will go white and I won't be able to do anything. I tried to restart my computer in safemode holding down the shift key while restarting it but it won't work. HELP PLEASE.

If you could boot from an external OS X boot drive then you could delete some files.  You probably don't have such a HDD/Thumb drive but a Genius at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider could help you.  This is not a hardware repair so a Genius should not need to charge you for this service.

or find an Apple Authorized Service Provider https://locate.apple.com/country
After it is healthy again I would buy a new external HDD and use Carbon Copy Clone or Super Duper! to create a bootable clone.  Keeping a clone current is also an excellent backup methodology in addition to Time Machine.

My macbook air won't turn on and when the power button is pushed, it makes a beeping noise. Any suggestions?

    Beeps on startup:
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images.
5 beeps = processor is not usable

  • My macbook air won't turn on and keeps making startup noise.

My macbook air mouse wasn't responding and I had several windows of google chrome open, the imsg app open, and everything else was closed. I left it on, closed the screen, and returned to it. I was able to login, but the mouse wasn't responding. I forced shut it down, waited a bit, then tried to start it again only to find the screen remained white and kept repeating the startup sound.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Unplug the mouse then try an SMC reset.

    Hello srsymington,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

my macbook air won't turn on.. last night it was still working properly... when i woke up this morning, i went to turn it on but it didn't respond..i tried plugging the charger and the lightning cord showed a green light which is normal when charging..i tried to open the macbook air again but nothing happened.. no fans, no chimes, no light in the laptop showed..what should i do? please help..thank you

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
A green light means that your battery is full or that it can't be detected. If you can't start up the Mac, probably your logic board or battery aren't working.
Take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller to get your battery or logic board replaced. If the MacBook is in warranty, this repair will be free

  • My brand new MacBook Air won't turn on all the way.

Hi my brand new MacBook Air won't turn on all the way. If I try to restart it or shut it down, it will go like it is starting up, but goes to a gray screen and stays there. I can see the mouse and move it, but it won't turn all the way on. What is wrong with it? It had been working fine since I got it, but today it hasn't been.

You may have to see if troubleshooting this issue can help, though the instructions on a process of elimination by symptoms are tedious in the following support article, and are suggested to be performed ahead of trying the process described in the title.
•Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
For the actual SMC reset, note subsection in above, instructions click-open on blue text:
    >Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
If the computer does not shut down, and just hangs there, try pressing the power button down for 15 seconds. Check the suggestions in the above article to see if any of them can be used, if the computer will power-up.
There is another item that sometimes can help, but the main issue you say could be resolved by the SMC reset; this other thing is involved NVRAM (non-volatile random access memory) so here's an article about it.
    •About NVRAM and PRAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    >Resetting NVRAM/PRAM opens in above, click-to-see instructions on how to reset.
You may have to call ahead to the nearest Apple Store for an appointment to see a Genius; or at authorized reseller, their service product specialist who should be trained to understand how to proceed, just in case there is a hardware issue behind the symptoms. When you call, be sure to have the serial number and purchase date available, when you call an official store.
Or use the 'Apple - Support - Contact Apple Support' to start the process...

    Hopefully this helps somewhat.
    Good luck & happy computing!

My MacBook Air Doesn't turn on. This is like only a month old, so there is still warranty. the problem is I have "very important documents" in my macbook air and how would i get assurance that the files won't be corrupted, used, or lost?

I tried almost every other options, instructions in youtube etc. but nothing worked.
    but now it WORKS
All i did was plug it for 24 hours straight. Tried turning it ON again but wouldn't work..

  • My MacBook Air was being turned on and overheating itself

    Hello, users
Today I found my MacBook air was being turned on and heating itself even if I haven't used it since last night.
I noticed When I tried to use it and put it out from my backpack and I felt weird because my MacBook in the cotten pouch was really hot.
My MacBook was pulled out immediately, horribly, it was too hot to hold it and I was really surprised!
As soon as I opened the my Mac, it displayed a cursor shotly and it automatically turned off and after that the fan stopped spinning as well.
I just got back home and connected with the power supplier, it had only 0% battery.
This is all I can explain from the beginning to now on.
This is the first time I have experienced this kind of situation.
I think I turned off well after using it yesterday and it wasn't heating in this morning.
I have no idea at all but I guess it would be recent update 2 days ago.
I don't want to imagine the following event if I didn't check it out before it had gone forever.
Do I need to check the condition of my MacBook Air all the time?
Is there any method to prevent this problem?
By the way, My Mac OS X version is now 10.7.5

There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
    The issue your having is with the way Keynote  takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
    Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on  either display,  use application switcher:
press the the  command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command  > tab to return to Keynote.
