If you're still under Apple Care, it will probably be done for free.
You left no clues as to the model of your MacBook Air, so we don't know its age.

  • Fan running constant at 6200rpm only when connected to the Power Adaptor!

My fans are runing constant at at 6200 rpm, the temperature is around 50 degrees Celsius.
No other processes running in the background Activity Monitor shows around 2-3 usage after reboot.
I did a reset of the SMC.
Funny thing is, if the MacBook is not connected to the Power Adaptor, running with the battery, the fan is running at normal speed between 1500 and 3000 (depending on what programs i use) and has the same temperature at around 50 degrees.
I am sure that it is not the Power Adaptor, i have two, one at the office and one at home, and the MacBook is only loud, connected to the Power Adaptor.
3 Year Extended Waranty just run out 3 weeks ago...
Any hints or ideas which part could be broken and should be replaced?
Is there some sort of Power Management Unit?

I did a reset of the SMC (see my first post). Did not help.
Actually i did everthing you can do, including a fresh install (10.5.6) and not updating to 10.5.7 (some had problems with their fans updating to 10.5.7), also a Harware check, safe boot, etc. Did not help at all. Now running again with 10.5.7.
I was wondering if there is a actual hardware part i can replace.
My stoneaged Powerbook had some sort of a circuit board that managed the chareging of the battery, etc. This board could be replaced.
Or do i have to accept it, that my MacBook believes to be a helicopter now.

  • Macbook pro turns off when taken off the power-cord, is the battery bad?

For a while my MCP when I take it off the charger it doesnt hold the whole time as it should and the battery doesnt last long, and now the past couple days when i take my laptop off the power-cord it will stay on for five minutes then shut down. I dont know what is going on, maybe a bad battery? I got my computer august 2006 . These are my numbers.
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 590
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 431

isnt the fully charge capacity a little low? what should I do?

If your MacBook Pro is a core duo model you may have a bad battery and be elgible for a battery replacement. The batteries on the original core duo MacBook and MacBook Pro had the warranty extended and extra year. The details are in this link.

and I need to work on music not only in time but the battery after that.
    I ask for help please

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • Does macbook air work only 6 years?

I've heard that macbook air works only 6 years. Is it true?

Here's another tidbit ... note the original MacBook Airs which are now 4.5 years old will not be capable of running Mountain Lion when it comes out later this month.  This is a typical behavior from Apple - note they're doing the same with the original iPad and iOS6.
This behavior is, of course, quite different from the machine simply no longer working after 6 years.  But it's not expected that folks keep them that long.

    Hello cass528,
I would be concerned too if my MacBook Air would not power on.  I recommend following the steps in this article when experiencing an issue like this:

  • My MacBook Pro 13'' shuts down randomly while connected to the power cord.

Alright, so my Mac is shutting down while being connected to the power cord. Though, when I unplugged it, it runs just fine.
I've read up on the other random shut downs but they seem to be different in my case. I was only surfing youtuve on Firefox, granted I had a few other tabs open but they weren't doing anything that would run the computer hot, and it shut down out of no where. The battery was full and it was still connected to my power cable. The screen went blank and the computer was completely off. I noticed that the light on the plug in wasn't on and switch the outlet that the computer was plugged into and replugged it into my computer. The light came on and after about three or so times of pressing the power on button it came back to life. Though, it stayed on the start up, white apple page and just spun. After a while it looked as if it was about to go to my password page but it shut down after gently moving the computer. The power cable light went off once again. I unplugged it and replugged it into my computer but the light would not come back on. After just removing the cord and pushing the button a few times my computer came back to life and I logged in as normal except for the fact that after it came back on the date and time was reset and several applications needed permissions. It also randomly logged me out of my Facetime account as well.
All in all I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and know what's going on or if this is new. Could it be some kind of spark in the power cable from a broken wire that made my computer shut down or is it something attacking my computer?

  • My mbp seems to "leak" current when connected to the power grid. Am I the first to notice?

My mac book seems to "leak" current when connected to the power grid. Am I the first to notice?

Grounded or not, this should not occur. Grounding is just for safety not to keep working on a leaking machine. What does Apple say about this. When I return from holiday I will contact them and find out. In the mean time thanks for the feedback.

  • Audio not heard from the speakers when iPhone connected to the power cord.

somtimes no audio heard from external speakers at all, when iPhone is connected to the power cord.
The troubleshoot I have done successfully was unpluging the power cord from the back of the iPhone then it rests the audio and audio can be heard through the speakers. This issue needs to be addressed to Apple tech support for permanent resolution.

  • T530 loses sound when you pull the power cord out

When I pull the power cord out from my t530, I lose sound, until I reboot.  I have run updater thingy to get all latest drivers, that seems to what have caused this problem in the first place.  I was trying to get HDMI sound to work out of the mini display port which was a hit or miss challenge depending on the order of pluggin things in, but now this is the bigger chanllenge.

if I do a "test" on the device it says it is being used by another application. If I enable/disable the device it doesn't fix it.
I am not on a docking station, no accessories but a USB logitech wireless mouse.

  • Macbook Air 2013 model stopped connecting to the wireless network

My 2013 MacBook Air has suddenly stopped connecting to my network. It is often intermittent and will kick me off the network if anyone else is connected. I think it is something to do with my Linksys router and the new Apple Airport card.
Do I need to get a new router and if so do I need the Apple Wireless router?

I could not start up my MacBook Air tonight, even after making sure the battery was fully charged.  I have had it for 2  1/2 weeks and downloaded Mountain Lion 2 days ago.  This has never happened before.  It started when I held down the power button and accidentally hit the F12 Key.  Is this a problem and what should I do about it?

  • HT3964 My MacBook is not responding when I press the power button, does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you :)

Hi, when I press the power button on my MacBook nothing happens and it is driving me crazy If anyone knows how I can fix this problem, I will appretiate it very much
    Thank you

Try an SMC reset, which can often fix that:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 . Note as you scroll down, there are two sets of directions for MacBooks, depending on whether you can remove the battery or not.
