MacBook Airport Issues After Update

Hello. After performing the most recent Software Update, my wireless Airport in my MacBook has been acting erratically. I never had these problems with it before the update and I know it's not the router because other wireless notebooks don't have the problem.
ISSUE: Airport often begins scanning in the middle of an online session without any reason. It then interrupts the session causing a hang while trying to visit other web addresses. It's as if it lost signal and began scanning again. Yet, my signal is always full. Before the update, I NEVER lost signal and never experienced any interruptions. I have verified and repaired all disk permissions. I have reset the router to no avail. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have an idea what can be done?
Thank you.

Same problem! I hope there is someone here who can help us? After updating the recent "firmware" from apple, I've been having connection issues. It's strange...I get a full signal from my airport, but when I scan to find it in Airport Utility it cannot be found. My wife has another Macbook same os, but did not update the "firmware"....guess what?...all fine with her connection to airport. So, I'd have to say it might be an update issue....you think? What can I do? God, someone help....

  • Airport issue after update - Status grey / Connection OK - Solved

    Hello All,
Just wanted to share an issue I had that was driving me nuts, and then the final solution.
Ever since the recent airport extreme update, my airport status has been broken. The menubar icon has shown up as grey / no signal, and when I click on it, the only option I have is to 'turn airport on' which when selected does nothing.
In spite of this, though, my airport connection for my preferred network is working fine - I just can't select a new network off the list (there is no list, even in internet connect)
This has been a problem since the airport extreme update. Nothing I did seemed to help. Finally, I called apple and spent 45 minutes on the phone with them, doing the obligatory pram resets and power management resets, etc. Nothing seemed to help. We found a way to enter networks manually (go to system prefs / network / airport and add your network there) but the status problem was still there.
After I got off the phone, I went to the apple support page and found the airport extreme software update and downloaded it manually and installed it.
Manually Downloading and Installing the airport extreme update again solved the problem.
I don't know why the software-update version didn't quite work, but installing the update from the website did solve the gray / broken airport status menubar problem.
Just thought I'd share that with everyone, as it's been driving me nuts for the better part of a week.
    Cheers!

I would like to confirm that update worked for me too. Actually, I didn't need to do it manually like some of you did. It worked straight away after automatic software update.
My problem was occasional inability to connect to my wireless router. The problem would have been solved by SSID change manually on the router and reconnection.
After the latest update, everything is working flawlessly.
I have (not so known) OZENDA router and didn't have Parallels installed.

  • MacBook Pro issues after updating to iOS8

After updating to iOS8 I ran into some strange issues (listed below) for the first time ever. Some of them I noticed the next day, others a couple of days later...
    - all my contacts disappeared in "contacts"
    - all my contacts disappeared in "Skype"
    - my background picture disappeared
    - all my folders in the launchpad were unpacked and all the summarized apps were scattered all over the launchpad.
All those things happened while the computer was in sleep mode, not turned off and didn't return to normal after restarts.
I got everything restored/reorganized but keep wondering if somebody else experienced something similar.
    Thanks for your help.

Well, if your Contacts have disappeared, then under System Preferences, click on iCloud and make sure you are signed into iCloud. If you are not, sign in. If you are, sign out and then back in to see if that restores your contacts.
I take it you have already restarted your Mac? If not, do that as well.
    Best of luck,

  • Airport issues after 10.6.7 upgrade

I have a MacBook Pro and after update to 10.6.7 (combo) I'm having a very unstable connection through Airport Express.
Sometimes when it happens I just get my wife's Macbook (10.6.5) and on her MB everything is ok, same thing using my iPhone, works fine, but my MBP cannot connect on internet but keeps connected over my home wireless network. So a workaround is turn airport off and on, but this works for a while and the issue comes back!
    Sad, very sad!

After installing the combo update, did you repair permissions and restart your computer?
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations: Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

  • Syncing issues after updating to 10.3.1.55

After upgrading to itunes 10.3.1.55, today, it no longer recognizes my iPhone 4. I plug it in, the iPhone makes its normal syncing noice. I get a prompt, like always about it recognizing the camera and how i want to handle it. I cancel it, as usual, and then it never shows up in iTunes. I close itunes, connect my phone and it does not start itunes as it normally should. No error messages, just no response. Can anyone help with ideas?

I had the same issue, after updating to 10.3.1.55 it would error out saying something along the lines of not being able to read the catalog or something.  I think the error even states do a restore to fix it.  Last night that is what I did, clicked restore and then had it transfer all my items back.  I'm glad I had just synced my phone prior to the update so the restore was really current.

I am having this wierd issue after updating to 10.7.2 recently

but after 2 hours its still loading.
It just seems to be stuck and its not the Beach ball.. So i dont think it hanged
Its not a network issue as well, since i am typing this on Firefox, which is running perfectly
    What could be the reason?

I'm having the same issue on my iMac. I've also noticed the rear of the left side is getting a lot hotter than normal.
I downloaded (from: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1459) the update again and reinstalled it. But nothing's changed. Is there anything else I can try?

  • Issues after updating iPhone3GS to iOS5 on TIM cellular data network (Italy)

    Hi everyone
I have issues after updating iPhone3GS to iOS5 on TIM cellular data network.
After installing iOS5 I had to switch from apn ibox.tim.it to wap.tim.it
Since then the phone is unusable for any internet activity that is barely "data demanding" (e.g facebook app take literaly hours to update), everyting requires way to much time... the iPhone is not an iPhone anymore... it's worse than my blackberry with just GPRS on it.
TIM technical support suggested me to switch back on apn ibox.tim.it, but then I would not be able to use internet tethering anymore (they say because of Apple iOS5) ... to bad I need internet tethering for work.
I am seriously thinking to switch ISP or phone.
Anyone did experience same problem / found a solution?

    Hi Raia.D,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first thing I would suggest is to restart your iPhone.  Then tap the Settings app, and you should see Cellular listed on the main settings screen.  You should see Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and then Cellular.
Here are some additional troubleshooting steps to try:

  • Airport issues after 10.5.8 on Macbook 5.1

After upgrading to 10.5.8 I have experienced several problems with the wireless connection.
I can correctly list the wifi networks, but I always end up with a self asigned IP. It won't ping the router, giving "no route to host" or timeouts up to 14000ms.
Sometimes (1 out of 4?), when I've been working with ethernet and switch to airport, seems to work properly for about 4-5 minutes. Then, both when running on battery or plugged in, the performance drastically drops until it becomes unusable.
I have tried all the solutions proposed to the similar problem (wifi issues when running on battery) with no results. The upgrade apple released didn't run for my hardware. I don't know if it's the same bug, but I hope this helps to identify it.

After doing a Software Update, AirPort has been having serious connection issues. It cannot find wireless networks where the *Wireless SSID Broadcast is DISABLED*. My iPhone finds the networks perfectly, every time. I am forced to input the network manually every time through "Join Other Network...", even though the network is saved on the Advanced list in Network Preferences.

Everything is pretty much defaulted to the default settings for the router. I have also another Linksys Router that is having the same problems. These used to work before perfectly BEFORE the MacBook 10.5.8 updates...
*Previous Methods in Trying to Resolve Issue:*
-Deleting AirPort connection in Network Preferences and re-adding it
-Deleting the "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" file in /Library/Preferences/etc.

  • Airport Issue After Waking From Sleep (White Unibody MacBook)

Hi all. On my new white unibody MacBook I have an Airport issue that always occurs after I wake the MacBook from sleep. I'm wondering if any of you have a similar issue and/or might not how to solve it.
Basically, when I wake the MacBook from sleep, it connects to my wireless network (and to whichever network I happen to be using at the time). A few seconds later, it will drop the connection, an exclamation mark will appear on top of the Airport icon on the menu bar, and when I click on the icon I see "Alert: No Internet Connection."
Then, if I just sit and wait, eventually Airport will connect to the network. But I have to wait -- selecting the network from the available list or turning Airport off and on doesn't help. And sometimes waiting isn't enough -- I sometimes have to go to "Create Network ..." and start all over to get a connection.
I've upgraded to 10.6.2 and the issue persists. I'd appreciate any help.

My wife's Macbook has EXACTLY the same problem and I've been through dozens of suggestions trying to fix it and the problem still persists.
The problem started right after I upgraded to Snow Leopard but also installed an Airport Extreme router and WPA2 wireless encryption. I've deleted all the networks, changed the order to put the Airport as the highest preference, deleted all the keys on the keychain, ran DiskUtility, all to no avail.
I'm not sure if this is somehow related to the Airport Extreme or occurs with any router. Also, have another MacBook Pro (unibody), and it does't have this problem connecting to the same Airport Extreme.
The other factor is it is intermittent --- and doesn't always fail. Rebooting the Macbook or the router will get it to re-connect, as will shutting off and turning on the Airport several times. But that's not a solution to the problem.
Apple needs to pay attention to this as many people are now reporting the problem.

  • Various Issues After Update To Bootcamp 3.2 (MacBook Pro, WindowsXP)

    Hi all,
i'm experiencing various issues after i updated to Bootcamp 3.2.
I first was running Bootcamp 3.0 (everything worked just fine, except some nv4_disp.dll bluescreens). I updated to Bootcamp 3.1 and then to Bootcamp 3.2.
Everything seemed to be fine firstly, but now i noticed various issues:
    1. I can't access the Bootcamp control panel (crashes when i try to open it (applecontrolpanel.exe at Offset 0004703a)
    2. Everything USB doesn't seem to work (except external USB drives), like USB printer does not print, camera attached via USB does not import photos)
When i check the Driver-Manager i'm seeing multiple USB hubs, root hubs and host conrollers (4 root hubs, 2 openHCD usb host controller, 2 usb hubs...). When i try to configure the USB port the printer is connected to i also get an error ("not supported").
    3. When i try the extended display settings i'm getting an "NVIDIA display panel extension can't be displayed".
MacBook Pro 13inch, Windows XP MediaCenter Edition (SP3), NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
    Thanks: Lars

Answered my own question, but want to post how I did it in case other users have the same problem.
I am assuming this issue appeared because I live in Canada. When I installed the Bootcamp 3.2 update, for some reason it changed my regional language of my system to French (Canada) - Canadian Multilingual (Apple)
To change it back I went in Windows XP to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options. Languages tab. Under Text services and input languages clicked Details.
Under settings tab changed Default Input Language from French (Canada) - Canadian Multilingual (Apple) to English (Canada) - US. Click apply.
Wait...it was working, but in the time it took me to type this it suddenly reverted and Im back to weird character mappings inspite of the language setting being changed.

  • Lion - TM issues after update

After updating to LION My timemachine started to give me huge issues.
i tried all possible solutions but my TM on Lion does not want create a backup. It has in a week backed up everything but it wont creata a usable sparsebundle . It keeps on ejecting the disk. After clearing the V100 index file seems going better but it still does not create a usable file. The repair disk did not show any issues .  going pretty much insane.
I was able to use an external with USB without issues. But the NAS Synology DS207+ running their latest firmware on it that is supposed to work with Lion over LAN is creating the problem.
    Tried wirelessy , same issue.
My Network has Airport express extreme. the macbook is connected though directly to the router via LAN while the NAS to Airport via LAN. this setup worked before on Snow leopard.

I am sure that there are other users that have had problems since updating the iOS. Have you totally reset the iPad up as a new device - not from a backup - and you are still having the issues?
If you have done so, have you tried closing all apps? Then when you start using apps - if the iPad works OK up until you launch a certain app - it may be that particular app is cursing the issue. And BTW, have you updated all of your apps since you updated the iOS?
    Closing all apps .....
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

My Macbook Retina 15" pro (early 2013) keeps losing connection with the mouse. Switching the mouse on/off helps in re- establishing connection between the mouse and the laptop for a few seconds. I was under the impression that this update of Yosemite was intended to rectify bluetooth and wifi connectivity issues. Any suggestions/advice welcome.

  • I'm having battery issues after updating to OS 10.9.2. Anyone else?

I noticed that my 13 inch late-2011 MacBook Pro has seen a significant decrease in battery life after updating to OS 10.9.2.  For example, I will turn off my wifi and just watch DVD's and the battery life isn't any where near what it used to be. It's only a few hours!  This is awful. My brightness settings are down and I'm not connecting anything into the USB ports and I am not using wifi. Any ideas or anyone else experiencing similiar issues?
    Thank you!
