You do use Siri. Hold the home button until Siri responds and say "Define bottle". Same thing, no?

its not working: (sorry for being so ambiguous), the computer recognises it, it comes up on my desktop, when i open it and try and drag a file across, it is unable to go into the drive, there is just a symbol indicating 'no' (i've read the instructions from Tosheba and there is no help). I have not partitioned the drive using the GUID partition scheme - i dont know what this means?!

If you go to System Preferences (under the Apple menu) and select the Network pane, then select the interface you want to use (probably Wi-Fi or AirPort if you are wireless, or Ethernet if not.) If using a static IP address you can set your router address here. If you are using DHCP, it is not needed, since the computer will pick it up automatically.

This is called "extended desktop mode". It's an extension of the desktop off to the right (by default) of your MBair screen. Grab an app and drag it off the right side of your MBair screen and it will appear on the TV.
To mirror your MBair screen on the TV you can press Command F1. This will toogle between mirror and extended desktop.
You can find all the settings in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab.

Lion designed for MacBooks and iMacs, not Mac Pros?

Seems to me that most of the major features of Lion only benefit folks using trackpads, which means mainly MacBook and iMac users. If you're a mouse-user all that built-in swiping and tapping is useless. To some degree, the same is true with Air Drop,great if you're mobile, but not so necessary otherwise. So, since I do 95% of my serious computer work on a Mac Pro, I see no benefit in upgrading to Lion. The only features that seem relevant are some of the lesser touted features like auto-save and maybe Mission Control, although that seems a bit meh to me.
Anyone care to tell me why I should invest $29 in this alleged upgrade?

I upgraded, had a look and then decided to go back to Snow Leopard. Lion was a bit buggy for a start, but like you I have a Mac Pro, and do a lot of design type work, not as a profession though. Auto save worries me, as I want full control over when I save when designing stuff. To have to go back through lots of saved versions to get to the one I want to keep would seem to me to just be creating more work for me. As I understand it, it only works in apps that are adapted to use it, so my old CS3 would not do it, but that direction worries me if I don't have control over it.
A lot of the new features can be switched off if you don't like them, which is what I did, so why upgrade? The new iCal and Address Book are horrendous looking too!!! Gaudy is the term that comes to mind. So is the full screen version of Photo Booth. Those types of apps look OK on the iPhone, but look horribly out of place on a Mac, where they have already taken all the colour out of the program window borders to leave a pale grey. I couldn't bear to look at them, and had to replace those bits of the apps with graphics of my own.
My advice is not to do anything for at least a while. It seems that an awful lot of posts in this forum are people wanting to know how to alter Apple's defaults and to switch things off. I am hoping Apple is watching and taking notice.
It seems to me that Apple has taken the success of the iPhone and iPad as its inspiration to change the Mac. I have an iPhone and I find the apps like address book that reopen where you closed them a pain. Usually I don't want that same person again, and I have to navigate back to my groups, then out again to get to the right person. It would be much simpler to always start at groups. I cannot imagine doing serious design work with my finger on an iPad. The two should remain separate entities.
This is the first upgrade that I have reverted from in 18 years as a Mac user, and the first time I am really getting worried that Apple is going off in the wrong direction - and the first time that Steve Jobs is not at the helm. I don't have a good feeling for the future.

Swr30 and Galaxy Note 2

Hi there!
I bought the SmartBand Talk swr30 few days ago and I have run into some problems.
During the first configuration through the app, I tried to connect the phone with NFC but it was not possible.
Also, using the bluetooth connection, I have noted that the connection is not stable (it drops 4-5 times in a day) and that the bluetooth range seems quite short (7-8 steps are enough to be disconnected).
Has someone else had the same problems?

So... I googled a lot about this problem and I found something interesting...
Apparently Android 4.4.2 has a BIG problem with the bluetooth connection on different devices! Lots of people are spotting continual disconnections and/or short connection range.
Unfortunately there are not official fix from Google...but hopefully they will fix this probem with Adroid 4.4.4

MacBooks and iPhones not staying connected to wifi.

When Yosemite came out I downloaded it to my Macbook Pro with retina and I've had no problem with it. Now when I did it to my dad's non retina Macbook Pro, he seems to be having trouble staying connected. Whenever he's online he keeps telling me he keeps getting booted off and has to go and reselect the wireless only to be kicked off again. As of lately that same problem has carried over to my iPhone and sometime it will jump back on the wifi or it will eventually prompt me to select the network again and it will reconnect. I'm not sure why this is doing this all of a sudden and wonder if their's any solutions. Also, I have another question up following the same type of question but it has to do with the wireless and I'll leave that down below. But I wonder if it's too many devices? There's my iPhone, my mom's iPhone, her iPad, my Mac, my dad's Mac, his phone, his work laptop, an Xbox One, a PS4, and possibly his cell phone. You could say we're pretty connected. Out of all those devices connected, only my mom's iPad, my phone, the Xbox and PS4, alongside my dad's Mac are the things mainly being used. The other iPhone and work laptop and cell phone aren't on the network frequently and are usually in sleep mode, if not turned off.

Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.
System Preferences>Network
Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Only some texts btwn iphone and galaxy not being received

I have an iphone 6 through att. My besty has a Samsung Galaxy s5 through Verizon. We live in the same metro area. She receives most of my texts, but not all. As far as we can tell, I receive all of her texts to me. I'm sure ATT will say it's Verizon's fault and Verizon will say it's ATT's fault. I'm not looking for blame. I'm looking for solutions

natasha2168, You won't find any blame here - just steps to get to a solution. We offer a history of text messages on My Verizon http://vz.to/P5EA3R that may just help to really figure out which company is the one that is having issues. Any messages that our network gets from your phone will show up in the texting history. If they are missing from your friend's texting history then that would point to an issue with her carrier. If the messages aren't even showing up in your texting history it means our network is never getting them from your phone. In a case like that we would need to trouble shoot your phone to see why it's not sending all texts to our network. ok, I have a macbook that I bought last August. I've been able to connect to the internet through wi-fi but I wanted to try something new. I decided to try to connect it to my desktop pc's internet. I unplugged the ethernet cable from the pc (it's from the cable company "cablevision") and connected it to my Macbook but it doesn't want to connect to the internet. What am I doing wrong?

Turn off the cable modem and the Mac. Wait at least one minute. Then turn on the modem and wait until the status lights indicate communication with the ISP. Next turn on the Mac. Open its Network preferences, select the Ethernet port and click on the Advanced button. Click on the TCP/IP tab and set the Configure IPv4 drop down menu to DHCP and click on the Apply button. You should shortly see the IP information appear.

Can I download Windows 7 without a disc?
When I went to go use Boot Camp Assitant, it told me that I NEED to download Windows 7 on my computer. Is there any way to get around this and instead download Windows XP?
If there is not, I can download Windows 7 from the Microsoft store and that will be a set amount of money, but can I use that with Boot Camp Assistant or do I need a legitimate CD? Can I burn whatever Microsoft gives me onto a CD and then use that? Or do I NEED to buy the backup CD?
The reason I ask is because a. I would like to do this all tonight, if possible and b. because it costs an extra $15 for a backup CD that I wouldn't necessarily need otherwise.

You also can't use a burned CD as Apple has formatted Boot Camp to not accept them (for obvious reasons.)
I haven't heard this. You should be able to download Windows 7 directly from Microsoft. They usually let you download either an .exe file or an ISO image. Don't get the .exe version as that needs to be run within Windows (you could use this if you were upgrading Windows). You can use the ISO to burn a DVD and use that to install Windows.

All of my photos were imported from my Galaxy S3 to My iPhone 5S. How do I upload them to my MacBook and how do I delete them off my iPhone?

I'm having issues deleting old photos and videos that were imported from my old Galaxy S3 to my iPhone 5S.
I tried uploading them to my MacBook and Its not giving me an option to upload them to Iphoto, only the picutres that are in my camera roll.

Blackberry Blend works on PC and MAC, but not iPad or Galaxy Note 10.1

I just cannot get Blackberry Blend to work on my iPad or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Blend is connecting find via my Win 7 laptop and also my iMac. Both they and the ipad and galaxy Note are on the same wifi network.
When I try Blend on the iPad, it shows the my BB Passport as a connection option, however when I select the Passport it tries to connect and then reconnect, however times out and goes back to select the device screen.
On the Galaxy, it gives me a message saying my BB is not connected to the network.
All units have the latest Blend version. My Passport runs the 10.3.0 OS.
Any suggestions?
