Macbook and Hannspree 22" LCD

I just got a Hannspree 22" HF229H LCD and the apple vga adapter for my macbook.
I tried to set it for the max resolution of the monitor (1680x1050) and it does not fill the entire screen (almost 2 inches of black on the sides and top.) I can fill the whole screen with the 1024x768 resolution. I tried all the settings on the monitor with no luck.
It works fine at this resolution, but I would like to use it at the 1680x1050.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Jonathan
Did you have any luck fixing this issue? I've got the exact same issue. Did ou find a fix or another monitor of this size that will give you full screen use?
Thanks
Brett

  • Dual logging: macbook and samsung 2233bw lcd monitor: missing drivers

    hi,
this x-mas i got a samsung lcd monitor. it is connected via dvi, and it's great to have all this extra screen space to play with. i have an issue, though. my new monitor is unable to take advantage of all the graphic features because the driver that came on the samsung c.d. is for windows os. there is no driver download for mac osx on samsung.com. i don't really feel like buying huey pro or spyder 2 colorvision. what can i do to 'unlock this monitor's potential?'
    thanks and happy new year

well you don't actually need "drivers" for a monitor. the only thing beneficial would be a color profile. the cd probably contains some of those. but profiles need to be monitor, not monitor-model/series specific, as such, bundled profiles are just a "rough guide".
Since you cannot use the cd, you could try calibrating it with the colorsync utility in your applications->utilities folder. There are also some other better calibration tools on the net. a quick search yields good results.
but these eye-calibrations are never as good as the hardware calibration tools. maybe you know somebody who could lend you one?

  • I finally found out my problem with my macbook and 32inch lcd

So I dont know if you have read but i have been having a little problem with my macbook and my 32inch lcd. The problem that I have been having is when it is hooked up threw the dvi to vga going into my t.v is that when i were to close the macbook it would goto sleep. Well i have done many things to prevent this from happening and nothing worked. I have the new apple wireless keyboard and mouse. After a few post I was told to do many things like click the mouse which I had already tried about 1.1 million times. Well after I was sick of it all I just got so mad at the whole situation. I tried one last time clicking and holding the mouse button down it stayed on. I thought I was dreaming this so I then tried it again and it worked. I was having the problem of closing the macbook then waking it back upp with the mouse and the my screen which would be the 32inch lcd would just flicker a few times then say no imput. I no longer have this problem

    problem solved

  • Macbook, Mini DVI to Composite/S-Video and Vizio 32" LCD.  HELP: Resolution

So I bought this adapter to hook-up my LCD TV to the Macbook, and I cannot get the correct resolution for this TV.
"32" HD 1366 x 768 native LCD HDTV" is the Specs.
NOW, I did download SwitchResX, but was unsuccessful in registering the custom 1366 x 768 resolution, the LCD TV simply prompts: "No Signal"
Under 1280x768 the TV does work, but it looks blurry.
    Please Help

The Mini DVI to Composite/S-Video is for use at standard TV resolutions, such as 640 x 480. Fo the full 1366 x 768 try using a DVI to HDMI cable with the Mini-DVI to DVI adapter
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9321G/B?fnode=home/shopmac/macaccessories/displays&mco=MTgyNTQ>
or use VGA with the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter

  • How do I connect my MacBook Pro to an LCD TV (with HDMI and S-Video ports)?

How do I connect my MacBook Pro to an LCD TV (with HDMI and S-Video ports)?  I assume I would need to use the DVI to Video adapter that came with my computer to connect to my LCD tv.  I'm just not sure which port I should use on the TV.  The HDMI port is being used for digital cable.
Also, does anyone know if this can be done wirelessly?

For a 2010+ MBP you can connect with a Displayport to HDMI, which will include Audio.
With older MBP you will need a displayport to HDMI, if you want audio to the actually TV, then you will need to get a cable with either digital out from MBP to the HDMI, or USB audio mixed into the HDMI

  • Connecting Macbook to new Samsung LCD

Apologies if its been asked before but I cant figure out the technical mumbo jumbo
I have a C2D Macbook with Leopard and now want to connect it to my new Samsung 26 LCD to watch videos which have been stored on my mac.
I know I have to buy a chord for that (which one) but will the picture quality be okay? The Samsung model is LA26A450C1 and it has a resolution of 1366 x 768. Do I have to plug it in AV or HDMI and is my LCD compatible with the macbook?
Again, sorry for such a basic question.

You have three optional adapters to get the video signal out of the MacBook through the built-in mini-DVI port:
mini-DVI to DVI, chained with an additional DVI to HDMI adapter/cable, for the best digital signal. (recommended option)
mini-DVI to VGA, for an analog signal with a VGA/Dsub15 computer monitor cable.
mini-DVI to Video (either S-Video or Composite) for an analog signal, usually for PAL or NTSC equipment.
you will also need to run an audio cable from the little headphone jack on the MacBook to a AUX line-input on your stereo or TV.

  • MacBook to 47 inch LCD Television

I am trying to figure a way to take what is playing (movie)on my MacBook and display it in high quality on my 47 inch LCD TV. I have the AppleTV, but can't around the syncing issue (port error) and want to figure out a way through cables to display a high quality from lets say iTunes when renting and playing a movie. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think the picture is really pretty good. the resolution is good enough that I can easily read NYTimes sized print on my 42 inch plasma.
When I play a video file, it's about as good as standard def or maybe vhs. not great, but i'm not expecting blu-ray quality.

  • Mac pro and viewsonic vp930b lcd display

mac pro and viewsonic vp930b lcd display
i have two monitors set up, a viewsonic vp191b and a vp930b lcd, connected via both dvi ports on the mac pro. the vp930b when the computer goes to sleep cycles on and off with the input message. if i put the mac pro to sleep via the menu sleep command, the last graphic/image on that monitor flashes on and off until i power the unit off, then it cycles on and off with the input message.
the problem is, the mac pro is not letting the display enter full low power mode and is sending some kind of signal still causing a cycle. the monitor works fine on other computers, the G5 i had pervious, and others i test. i tried switching ports and re-routing the cables, same result, the vp930b is still not allowed to enter full low power mode and starts an endless cycle of the monitor going from low power mode back the input mode. i reset the pram yet again and it still occurs. i tested the dvi cable and dvi port of the monitor on a macbook pro, the only other intel mac i have and it worked perfect. i can only conclude my macpro is either defective or incompatible with my viewsonic vp930b lcd display. anyone else using a viewsonic vp930b lcd display with a macpro 2.66. holidays suck when you are having tech issues.

i tried that. it is only the one display, if i switch ports on the card, it still only does it to the same monitor. since it does not do it when the computer is off or starting up, the second monitor 2 port does not come on until the the login screen is near, and flashes an image on the screen, i know it is somewhere in the hardware or software. the mac pro is sending some signal to the vp930b still when it should not be. i know the displays and mac pro communicate with each other via the dvi link, so it is unique to this display.

  • Dual screen with MacBook and iBook possible?

    Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to have the MacBook and a iBook G4 hooked up dual screen?
If so what are the things I need to make it happen?
I am doing photo editing and just got a MacBook and I need the extra screen space and I have my old iBook laying around my house and thought I could use it for extra screen space.
    Thanks for the help,
    Sam

Unfortunately you can't, and there really isn't anyway to do it. You would be best of buying a cheap LCD monitor.

Call Apple, if you are anywhere in the world and you have AppleCare or are within the 90 days they will assist you.
Never think of Apple as being like the others. They hate unhappy customers and will always help those who in good faith make a complaint.
You should just get this swapped out for a new one. And please tell me you used a Credit Card, not your debit card to buy this.
And it should not matter where you bought this as long as there is an Apple store in the country you now live in.
    Good luck!

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

  • I have recently bought a macbook and am using outlook 2011 as email. i am getting an error message 4.7.0 not allowed when sending emails how do I fix?

i have a macbook and am using outlook 2011 as email.   receiving okay.   sending okay sometimes.  am now getting error message 4.7.0 not allowed when sending.  what is the cause? how do I fix please?

I have discovered that the emails have in fact been sent but much later, maybe it's a network problem with the people i am sending it to.  so i checked my sent items and they are there, but at the time the email doesn't go straight into the sent box or drafts so i'm assuming it's disappeared and type it again.  i'll keep going with it, until someone can give me a possible solution or explanation as to what is happening.

Hello, Im new to this website. Im having issues with my Macbook. I have the old 2009 model Macbook and it is our schools macbook. The school just upgraded these MacBooks to OSX Mavericks and when i try to open Minecraft it won't let me. It says no jdk installed. I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. Can any one help with my problems. P.S. I don't know the administrator password or stuff like that. And yes we are allowed to play games and stuff on these laptops but only at home not at school so don't tell me i need to focus on school and not games.

Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.
