Macbook and HP 2510i monitor display problem - help

Hello,
I am having display problem with my Macbook (Intel) and my 25'' HP 2510i monitor via DVI.. Until last monday I do not have any problems and my monitor was working flawless with my macbook.. Last monday I used the monitor with my HP Notebook to try Windows 8 on large screen. And after that try when I connect the monitor back to Macbook there is no display.. I tried the steps below
- I connected Macbook to my Phillips Plasma TV and it worked (no error with display card of Macbook or the wire or the adaptor)
- I connected the monitor back to HP laptop it worked.. (so no error with the monitor)
- I unplugged monitor to cut electricity and tried.. nope not working
- I did several tricks with macbook no effect
- I reinstalled Mountain Lion .. no effect
- I formatted Macbook, reinstalled Snow Leopard.. Not working.. I installed back Mountain Lion .. not working
Whatever I tried the HP2510i is not displaying, mirroring my Macbook..
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks

  • HT203254 Macbook Pro 17inch (late 2008) display problem

    Hello,
I have a display problem with my Macbook Pro 17inch running on NVIDIA 8600M GT graphic cards.
The whole display screen pops up with vertical lines which makes the display colour faded and sometimes changes to colour yellow or red.
I tried with display reset by pressing Shift + Ctrl + Eject to solve this problem but it still happen.
So which is the problem, the graphic display (NVIDIA 8600M GT graphic card or my display screen?
    Thanks

Hope you're within 4 years of your original purchase date:

  • Macbook and LG E2041T monitor

I recently purchased an LG E2041T monitor to use with my macbook. The monitor has DVI and VGA ports, but only came with a VGA cord; I have a VGA-Mini DisplayPort adapter. Everything seems to be physically connected correctly, but I get no response when they are plugged in. Just to check, I connected the VGA cord without the adapter to my laptop from work (a Dell) and had an instant display. What do I need to do to get this display to work with my Macbook? Thanks in advance!

Is the adapter you have an Apple one or is it made by another company? Also, have you proven the adapter to be working using another monitor or projector? It could be the adapter is bad.

  • Photoshop CC 14.2.1 and NVidia GTX 660 Display Problems

    I'm having exactly this problem:

The fix documented at the end of that thread works but the penalty is a loss of performance. In an attempt to fix it, I updated to the latest drivers from NVidia for the GTX 660 and as a result, further problems occur:
This sometimes happens when using the crop and straighten tool at 100%.
More often though, irrespective of zoom settings I get:
This happens quite frequently with the dust and scratches/surface blur tools too. Or even on occasion when duplicating a layer or merging layers.
The following gets written out to the event log:

For now I'm using the following work around but with some performance penalty:
Drawing mode: Basic (resolves the issue with mask overlay being patchy and rendering slowly at 100% zoom)
OpenCL: Disabled (resolves Photoshop crashing with crop/straighten and other tools as described above)
This needs to be fixed! The reduced performance increases the time I spend editing, particularly a large product shoot undertaken recently for a client.

My advice:  Rather that wait hopefully, try some alternate configuration settings.
Specifically, go into your Preferences - Performance - Advanced Settings panel, and try the different options there, making sure to close Photoshop and restart it after each change, then test.
It's possible Photoshop asked the nVidia display driver what it can do, and it said it could do something very advanced, but in the driver implementation some part of that advanced operation is run in the CPU, not the GPU.  NVidia has been known to do this!
Thus it may be that if you choose a lesser drawing mode or change something (e.g., 30 bit display) you might find that particular combination of settings makes things run faster.

  • TS2570 I have this problem too I cannot boot from the startup disc and the install DVD theat came with the computer cannot be seen by the MacBook and refuses to eject van anybody help? I cannot open in Console as the error message I get says files are in

Grey screen appears at startup the install disc is not recognised & will not eject every boot is met with grey screen revolving apple logo&folder&circle with diagonal and console error says start up item is in the trash also cannot access external FireWire drive please help. I also have a full copy of leopard if I can get the original install disc out perhaps it is corrupt tia

Ok, so this was done by Apple by purpose?
To clarify slightly what others have said, Apple licences the grey system discs that come with a Mac for use only with that specific Mac, not for use with any other Mac, even one of exactly the same model. So using them with any other Mac violates the terms of the license & should be avoided. The installer on the grey discs enforces this in part by checking the model of the Mac when it is run & refusing to install anything if the Mac is not the correct model. It displays a warning message that the disc cannot be used with that Mac & the only available option is to quit the installer.
Beyond that, while the grey discs may in fact include & install drivers for the hardware in other, older Mac models, they cannot include ones for Macs using hardware newer than the release date of the Mac they came with. In this case, the other Mac can't even start up from the installer disc & it freezes with a kernel panic before it can run the installer. This seems to be what happened here.

  • My HP8000 ptr will not print via time capsule showing problem as "...short read".  I've reset the printing sys on both MacBooks and the iBOOK?  Can you help?

I have been using a HP8000 printer via the USB connection on a TimeCapsule using wifi from a MacBook, MacBookPro and an iMAC (ethernet connected to Time Capsule) for a couple years before the printing stopped with a message of ".....short read" The printer still functions when directly connected to a Mac via a USB cable. Help???

Suggest that you work your way through Apple's Printer Troubleshooting Guide to see if you can get things going again.
The last item....reset printing system....will often work when all else fails, but try the other steps first.

  • MacBook Pro (mid 2009), strange display problem

    Hello everybody,
This is my first post here, so thanks everybody who will read my post.
In February 2010 I bought two MacBook Pro 13 inch, for me and my girlfriend. Both of them are still working awesome, just one of them seems to develop a problem. I will try to detail it here, just that it's pretty strange even to explain.
When I look close to the screen, in seems that the colors in the images (web page elements, photos and so on) are not smooth (when changing from one color to other) rather they have very sharp edges. Next, when I look at the open menus (ex. the Apple menu in the left corner) it has some horizontal tiny lines. More, when I move the mouse over some elements (like the icons in the bar) some small square appears (like a net). I did reload the Mac and I was able to stop the same small squares over the Mac logo while booting. They are bearly visible, but for sure are there as I compare with the other Mac which has no such problems. This small squares net can be seem all over desktop and it seems that it flickers at around 2 seconds (there, not there, there...)
I know that it may be hard for you to understand, so later I will try to add a screen capture, if you don't understand my issue.
I do not have this issue if I connect an external monitor! So, I don't believe is from the graphic card / chipset.
If anybody encounter this kind of problems please give me an advice. Please consider the following:
    - I'm pretty good with technical stuff, so don't be shy to give technical details
    - I don't have Apple Care
    - I have been already to two authorized centres (I live in quite a small town in Austria); one told me that they will open in 3-4 months, the other told me that they can send it to Vienna, but it will take about a month and will be very expensive around 700-750 euro (aprox. 800-850$). How they know it will be expensive if they don't know the issue?!. I assume that they mean full replacement of the display, but in this case I would rather sell it for spare parts and buy a newer one
    - There is another authorized repairing centre at about 60 km from my city, I will try to make them a visit tomorrow, still I would glad if somebody can give me a hint.
    - As I extended the memory in my Mac (2GB to 4GB) I know the layout inside the unibody case, just if you want to tell me to check some cables (btw, this with the memory upgraded is the one working, the other one was never opened or technically touched in any way).
Thank you all  and have a nice day!

OK, if anybody is curious, here is the outcome. I took the device to an Apple authorized repairing center and they told me that the display it's the problem. I didn't get details (but I'll ask when I'll pickup my device) if the LCD was damaged, or some cables, but they said the whole display need to be replaced.
The prices (in Euro, but you can make the conversion)
    - the initial checkup and problem identification: 80 Euro (I have to pay this only if I choose not to repair the device at their service)
    - the repairing (display + work): 500 Euro
Not to happy to pay such an amount of money but what can I do?
Nevertheless I want to believe that this was somehow bad luck, as I have more than four Apple devices that run just fine.
    Best regards,
    Calin

  • Monitor display problem.

    Hello everyone,
I am having trouble figuring out how fit my desktop size to the size of my monitor.
Indeed, I have my MBP (Nvidia 9600GT) plugged to a 27" monitor (1080p resolution).
The problem is the "real desktop", the one I see on my original screen on my MBP, doesn't show up entirely.
Either the top menu bar is SLIGHTLY cut, or the bottom dock.
I output the display in 1920x1080, even though the samsung monitor stays in 1650x1050 for some reason.
A little help would be much appreciated!
    Paul.

are you trying to mirror the display (show same things between two different monitors), or are you showing different contents on each, and having problems setting the resolution just on your MBP?
I think we need a bit more information on your setup. also what is your MBP display size?
If have the monitor set to be independent of eachother (expanded desktop) you set the MBP display resolution to its native resolution, while setting the samsung monitor to its native resolution, it should automatically set the desktop menubar on the primary display correctly... If you have it so that each display mirrors eachother (whatever is shown on one screens shows up exactly the same on the other), then it is possible depending on which monitor is set as primary monitor, that can mess with the resolution display on the secondary monitor.

  • Macbook dropped - how to troubleshoot display problem

My daughter dropped her macbook from about 3 feet. Since then, the lcd lights up uniformly but is just blank. The computer drives an external display and otherwise seems to function normally. How do you troubleshoot the source of the problem? LCD, inverter cable, other.
    Thanks.

Thanks very much for the quick response
Yes, users do have hlog key and I suspect one a couple of things are happening
    - other receptionists are logging out of huntgroup
    - the call is coming in from somone who is not dialing the huntpilot number but dialing the reception number direct
    - the other receptionists are busy so there is nowhere else to route the call (this one is unlikely since there are about 6 numbers in the LG
I have pulled off some traces from a reported problem time but strangely when I search for the huntpilot number it is not showing up. I've tried the sdi and sdl traces.
I am a bit new to this type of troubleshooting so it is likely I'm just doing it wrong (I'm trying to use notepad since I cant seem to get a hold of TripleCombo at the moment.
As I mentioned above, any assistance on helping me troubleshoot this issue would be much appreciated
Thanks again for your quick response

  • MacBook and Dell 1801fp monitor... not agreeing

I have a MacBook running OS 10.4.11 Work bought me a Dell 1801fp and I can't get the monitor to pick anything up. I can see it in my System Preferences. I have tried using the F7 key but no luck. Any suggestions? I'm not expert but I thought I'd be able to get something this simple working.
Please help... I get so tired of all the PC "experts" telling me if I just switched to a PC all would be well with the world.

Are you using DVI? What resolution does that screen default to in System Preferences? Is that a current model Dell monitor - I couldn't find specs for it on Dell's site.
I've used quite a few Dell monitors with Macs, and never had a problem.
If that Dell has both DVI and analog (VGA) inputs, you'll need to push a button on the front of the monitor to tell it which input you're using. I suspect this is your problem.
Note: the F7 key toggles between 'extended desktop' and 'mirrored' modes. With rare exception, you don't want to use mirrored - it's basically for projectors.

  • HP Pavilion 27xi Monitor: Display problem Mac Mini running Yosmite

Image quality is very poor for Mac Mini running Yosmite connected via HDMI.
Adjusting overscan helps scaling, but pixelation and poor image quality is not changed (very blurry)
Using VGA/mini display route with same devices, image quality if far better showing that somehow mini conncected to HP monitor via HDMI could be improved via driver update.
Is there a driver update for Yosmite?
Only drivers found were for Windows:

    Hello @adsben,
I understand that the image quality for your HP monitor is poor when connected to your Mac Mini, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
According to this document on using HP Monitors on a Mac:
"HP monitors are not supported in a Mac environment. However, newer Macs use graphics with VESA modes and can display to most HP LCD monitors. To do this, connect the monitor to the Mac while the Mac is off, and then turn on the MAC. The monitor should operate at 60Hz. The INF and software for the HP monitor are for Microsoft Windows and cannot be run in a standard MAC OS environment."
    I hope this helps!

  • HT204154 monitor display problem

I have an early 2009 24 iMac and a late 2009 27 iMac.  The 27 has that common problem of the monitor going black. And staying black. Computer runs fine, but screen goes black.
The monitor of the 27 goes black. Has been black for months. So I use an external LG monitor.
Yesterday, I hooked the 27 up as an external monitor to the 24. IT WORKS FINE. So.
So. The brains of the 27 will show visual to FROM another computer. And TO another computer. But it will now show visuals on itself.
    What can that be?

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Is arnavsharma's suggestion helpful with your problem? If you need any further assistance, please feel free let me know.

  • Macbook and a1267 flicker when display plugged in

I'm having an issue with a used A1267 Cinema Display I recently purchased. The display seems to be all but dead. When I plug it in to my MacBook Pro (specs below) using the mini display port both screens flicker as if trying to find out the correct resolution and after about five times the cinema display stops trying and the MacBook screen returns to normal. The cinema display does show my mirrored screen for a split second before going black again, meaning there is actual picture and not just basic colors. Is there any way to diagnose/fix whatever is going on here? Ive searched several forums and have found no issues similar to what I have happening here. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
