MacBook and Pro Apps

I am considering the purchase of one of the brand new MacBooks that were released today and I am wondering if Pro Apps like Aperture and Final Cut run well on the MacBook? Is the Intel Graphics card alright to run those programs? How about Photoshop and Flash?
Also, I would like to know someones thoughts on the MacBook display. Is it nice and bright? Clear?
I have also heard that the MacBook gets noisy when viewing sites such as youtube or other flash sites? Is this true?

Aperture 1.5 ran very well on my 2.0GHz Core Duo MacBook while I was using it. In the end, I was forced to move my 57GB Aperture library to my iMac, I couldn't afford the hard drive space on my portable. It should run just fine on one of the new MacBooks. Neither Color nor Motion will run at all on the MacBooks. They require a different video card. While DVD Studio Pro, SoundTrack Pro and Final Cut Pro will run on a MacBook, keep in mind that Apple does not support it. You won't be able to go to them for any technical help and the folks here might not be able to offer suggestions since they're not experienced with the same hardware.

  • Audio sound distorted since 10.6.3 and Pro Apps 2010-01 - bug iTuneshelper

As of OS X 10.6.3 and Pro Apps Update 2010-01 (FPC 7.0.2) I was encountering in both video sound and music sound tracks odd and somewhat unpredictable audio distortion (wrong pitch and left and right stereo sound running out of sync).
This problem seemed to pop up around the end of March 2010.
I have determined that it is related to iTunes 9.0 which has placed in my startup items iTunesHelper which is a startup item, just after AdobeResourcesSynchronizer, iChat and Stickies. I am not certain if it is the order of the startup that introduces the problem or the version of iTunes (which currently is now 9.1).
If you have this item in your startup, just delete it and perhaps your audio problems will go away.
    Don

Had the same exact problem. Just got off the phone with Apple Support. The tech asked me to create a test administrator account under Accounts in Systems Preferences. Then log out of account you are currently using and log in to the test account. If you are like me then you will find Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat under Applications. Open Adobe Reader and choose to update it. I actually did not have to choose anything as the program began to update both itself and Acrobat Pro automatically. It will take about 10 minutes, depending on speed of internet and computer speed. Once completed, then logout and log back into your normal administrator account. Both programs should now be updated and you can use them. Delete the test administrator account you created. And, good luck on that school work.

  • CS3, 3d apps and  Pro apps on a mac book

I'm really torn between getting the macbook pro and the macbook. It boils down to money at the end of the day.
But what i need to know before choosing which to go for, is how well do apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver and Cinema 4d perform on the macbook compared to the macbook pro.
    Thanks

They will run fairly well. I used to have an earlier version of the MB and I ran photoshop, imovie and idvd heavily on it. While it wasn't a speed demon, it still performed adequately. The new MB has much better graphics and a faster front side bus, so I imagine it will be more than adequate as long as you don't mind working on a smaller screen. Your other option is to go to the applestore and look at refurbished mbp's. They are being discounted quite a bit right now.

  • MacBook and Pro Design

I have a MB and I love it. However, maybe someone can tell me why Apple doesn't include a memory card reader and why do the USB ports have to be right next to each other? Sometimes there isn't room for two devices. Why not space them or put them on opposite sides of the MB as the Pro version does? Or, what about one more USB port (total of 3) on the opposite side?

I think it's simply because of the "commercial target". Even if macbook is a really good computer device and can perfectly be used for professional works, it was more designed for entertainment if you see what i mean (so it was targetted for an occasional use of the usb ports). The MacBook pro was designed for professional work (daily use of the usb port, memory card reader etc..). But i can be wrong, it's just my opinion.
I don't care about the 2 USB ports next to eachother, but there's no memory card reader for my camera but it's not a big deal, for 20 bucks you can buy one. Moreover, the card reader often come with the camera when you buy one.
I hope it was what you were looking for, and i hope i'm not wrong.

  • Difference between MacBook and Pro?

Hi there. Just a quick question...
I looked at the MacBook for the first time today (rather than the MacBook Pro) and saw I could get the same spec for less. The only difference I could see was the screen size. I'm sure there's more to it. Can someone explain? Thanks

Other than the obvious screen size difference, the other major difference is the video chipset. The MacBook uses an "integrated" Intel GMA 950 with 64MB of shared videom memory, while the MacBook Pro uses an ATI Radeon x1600 Mobility with 128MB or 256MB of dedicated video memory. This translates to much better performance in games and thing that make heavy use of the graphics card.
To me, this is the only real difference, and if it weren't for that, I would own one right now. As it stands, though, I need to do a little more thinking about whether I'm ok with essentially giving up the option of playing graphic-intensive games in XP. I'm not a huge gamer now, so it might not bother me much, but the idea (for me) was to get a MB/P as a desktop replacement, and in case I want to play games in the future I'll need to go back to the desktop...

  • Is it possible to format the entire macbook and saving apps like microsoft word on a harddisc and then just reinstalling them without having to buy an other licence?

    Hye
I want to format my macbook but i want to save my apps like word, excel, powerpoint.. Is it possible to save them on a hard disc because i tried to save them and open them on an other mac to check if it works but it didnt..
    Thanks

I think you would have to reinstall the keys seeing that if you format the computer all the data is gone. Even though you backed up that data you never know what can happen when you try to reinstall certain apps. Not sure what method you can go by, you should run a diagnostics test to see how you computer is doing internally.
    Goodluck

You'll need a Mac with a support OS X and tools to complete the process.

My Macbook pro won't open downloaded programs, it just opens the code it was written in using the text and edit app. How can I fix this? I just bought the computer last month so this is some what frustrating.

If you are downloading .exe files, those are Windows programs, and will not run on your Mac unless you install Windows on it.  (That is possible, if you need one of those apps.)

  • HT3964 power outage seems to have upset macbook pro....says security certificates aren't valid for sites like facebook, google, and apple app site...cannot connect to app store to update

    Hi k,
I don't know if it's the same in your OS, but in 10.6.8:
Go to Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access > Keychain Access menu > Keychain First Aid > enter your password > click on Verify > click on Start. If you get a message saying something needs to be repaired, click on Repair > Start and wait for it to finish.

    Hello Unconscious2015,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are trying to configure your Mac to use SMS continuity with your iPhone, then please follow the directions below to configure SMS Continuity.
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
    On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • Pro App update 4.0.1 - Macbook Pros and Motion 3 crash

Anyone know if this Pro App update that came out today addresses the issue of Motion 3 crashing on the new Macbook Pros? Anyone know if it's safe now to run the Macbook Pro Software Update 1.0?
There's no new information on the article page:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306038
And of course, the information on the Pro App Update page tells us NOTHING about what it actually fixes.
After the major problems the MBP software update caused, I'm extremely hesitant to run any updates as I cannot afford to have to wipe my hard drive AGAIN due to a bad update. YUCK!
I'd try it myself, but being in the middle of a couple of projects, I just can't afford to take the risk.

OK, just got off the phone with tech support. This Pro Apps update does NOT address the Motion 3 crashing issue.
MBP owners, still should NOT RUN THE MBP SOFTWARE UPDATE 1.0.
Good news is that I was told that the issue (Motion crashing due to the new video cards and OpenGL) has been heavily escalated.
