I am suffering from a similar issue, where my Mac Book Pro will connect to the network and have an internet connection. My PC on the other hand, running XP, will connect to the AEBS as well, but cannot connect to the internet. I also should note that I have a Powerbook G4 that pulls the same thing the PC does, finds the wireless network, yet will not connect to the internet. My first assumption was that it was the base station transmitting in 802.11n, but when I configured the settings, I had it set to 802.11b/g compatible, so all of my computer should be working fine. If there is any addition information that would possible be a fix to this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Macbook and iOS won't connect with bluethooth

    Hi folks,
I have a 2010 Macbook White edition, that today I upgrade to Mavericks 10.9.4, previously on 10.7.5.
I have iPhone 5s, with latest iOS (7.1.2)
Before updating to Mavericks, I had no issues with bluetooth pairing and syncing, etc. between the two devices.
Since the update, they sometimes discover each other (well, the Macbook discovered the phone, but not the other way around). When I tell the MB to pair with the phone, the phone comes up with the typical pairing message. I hit "pair" and then they appear to be paired but "not connected". The phone then gives an error saying that my device (the macbook) "is not supported". I was supported a day ago, so what happened?
Please advise. Would love to get this sorted out.
    Cheers,
    Richard

Try resetting network setting on your iPhone and then repair the Macbook and iPhone. Look in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

  • MacBook and iTunes won't detect my iPhone 3G

I have the iPhone 3G and it is synced to my PC with windows 7. I just bought a MacBook and want to sync my phone to my MacBook without losing all my contacts and everything on my iPhone, because I plan on selling my PC. The problem is, when I plug my iPhone into my new MacBook the computer and iTunes does not detect my iPhone at all. When I plug it in to the USB port, it charges my phone but it does not detect it on the computer or in the iTunes device list. Yet when I plug my iPod nano into the new MacBook the computer and iTunes detected it immediately. Help! How can I get my MacBook to detect my iPhone so I can use it with my new Mac and not my old pc!?
    Thank you!

I am trying to connect my macbook pro to my iphone 4 using bluetooth.  but they don't seem to find each other.

See this link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647 describing what Bluetooth profiles the iPhone supports. You cannot connect the computer and iPhone together for the purpose of trading files.
What are you trying to connect and do?

  • Mac Pro and G4 won't talk via ethernet

Hi, I know this is child's play for many of you, but I'm at a dead end. I'm trying to network my new Mac Pro with my G4 MDD /dual 1.25/ V.10.2.8. I made sure that file sharing is on in both Macs, that the ethernet ports are active, and that I have a good quality cable. When I try and access the G4 from the mac pro, from Go>connect to server,I get a connection failure window. And from connect to server>browse>network, the G4 shows up but the MPro locks up when I try and connect.
When I try and access the MPro from the G4,via go>connect to internet, I get an error-36 message. And in both cases I'm using either the computer name .local or the ip address.
The macs see each other but won't connect. Any thoughts or experience with this problem?
And finally, I'm really not sure if I'm going about this the right way. My goal is to use the G4 to drive SCSI devices I use for work, and as a file server.
And since the G4 has multiple drives, I don't know if I'll be able to access/see them all via direct ethernet. To see all of the G4 drives from the mac pro, is a direct connect sufficient or do I need a different approach?
    Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the tip on applejack. Disc Warrior has been good to me but I thought I'd give AJ a try. I downloaded and ran it in the G4 to clear any potential issues. Afterward, I still could not connect with the G4, via either the IP or the computer name.local.
So I went back to the computer store and picked up a crossover cable. Same price as the patch cable I was using, and I'm aware that it's not technically required, but I figured "why not?" So I installed the crossover cable and I still couldn't connect at first, via Go>connect to server>IP address or name.
Then I tried Go>connect to server>browse>network and I could see the G4 as before. Previously, when I went this route and hit "connect" to see shares, the MPro locked up. This time I held my breath, hit "connect", had to log in as registered, Icould see my HD's in the G4, selected and opened. TaaDaaa! Saints be praised!
As a test to finalize this thread and help out any other poor soul in my position, I dragged the volume icons to the trash restarted the G4 after switching back to the original patch cable. No connection was possible via any route including the network browser. Then I reconnected the crossover cable and it works fine so long as I go in through the network browser and log in.
So the fundamental problem seems to have been the cable. Whether the original patch cable is bad, or whether or not I really need the crossover I don't know, but the crossover works for me and the patch didn't.
Thank you all for your assistance!

  • Spilled milk on Macbook and it won't turn on.

Today, I knocked over a small glass of milk over and it got on my Macbook Pro. The milk got onto the top left part of my computer and it immediatly shut off. This had to happen while I was updating my iPhone to iOS 5. Now, my Mac will not turn on but it's able to charge. How can I get it back on? I have warranty on my computer still.
    Thanks!!

There is not a lot consumers can do when this happens. I suggest you make an appointment and take it to the Genius Bar.
This sort of damage can vary from "no problem" to "major repairs", You can't pretend it never happened, as they will find milk or its residue inside. It is generally NOT covered by warranty because it is considered abuse. But you need to get it fixed, and the sooner the better.

  • My MacBook and IMac won't download new iTunes 11.1?

For Christmas I received loads of CDs. I also received an iPhone 4. I have a PowerBook G4 and an older iMac model. When I went to load the new CDs onto my new phone for the first time, it came up with text saying I needed an iTunes Store update for 11.1 or up. When I went to download this on the online store it came up with another text box after I had downloaded saying I can't install it. So, I went to the iMac computer and tried this again, it did the same thing except it kept bussing and my phone kept saying do it it this computer? At the same time the computer was saying I need in lock my phone and enter the passcode- I haven't got a passcode on my phone yet. Then finally I gave up because I was getting frustrated.
It could just be because their older computer models but I want to listen to the music at school and I can only do that if it's on my phone. Is there any solution?

    Hi,
It is because the computers are older models. The G4 is not compatible. How old is the imac, what's its processor and OS X?

  • HT4483 I am trying to download OS X Lion 10.7 on my MacBook and it won't do it...

    Is anybody there?

Is this you first download and you actually have OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on your Mac, or are you redownloading the Lion Installer app using your Purchases list?

  • I have Office:mac 2004 and it won't download on my new MacBook Air.  Is it too old?  It says PowerPC applications are no longer accepted.

I have old Office:Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition from my previous MacBook and it won't download onto my new MacBook Air via external optical drive and says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported.  Am I stuck bying the newer version or is there a way around the software issue so I don't have to spend more money.  Thanks for your help.
    Kevin

You can purchase Offce 2011 from MacMall for about $99 so it is well worth the money.  As said in a previous post by Kappy, you can try one of the free office suites available.  They can read Office files and can save documents in Office format.  Apple's iWork is also a good ffice suite afavilable from the App Store by download. I have used Open Office,Libre Office and Neo Office and have liked each one of them.  Neo Office has the closest match to Apple operating systems - it just feels like an Apple program.  Open Office and Libre Office are also very good choices and dont have much of a learning curve at all.

  • Certain music pieces and apps won't download from my iPod to iTunes on my MacBook

I want to put what is on my iPod on my new MacBook, but certain pieces and apps won't download because my computer isn't authorized (so it will delete it from my iPod if I sync), but when it asks me to authorize it it uses an old Apple ID that doesn't exist anymore and to which I do not have access. Any ideas how to fix this? I just want to be able to sync my iPod with this computer without worrying about losing anything.

    Check out this article:

Read the "iTunes and App Store Content" section, especially the "Transferring purchased content" link there.

Hello, Im new to this website. Im having issues with my Macbook. I have the old 2009 model Macbook and it is our schools macbook. The school just upgraded these MacBooks to OSX Mavericks and when i try to open Minecraft it won't let me. It says no jdk installed. I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. Can any one help with my problems. P.S. I don't know the administrator password or stuff like that. And yes we are allowed to play games and stuff on these laptops but only at home not at school so don't tell me i need to focus on school and not games.

Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

  • I have a 2008 black macbook and access UK tv through a purchased proxy site. I want to buy a sony bravia internet connected tv to watch the channels in more comfort. Sony tell me this won't work - that the tv cannot capture my macbook content. Any advice?

I have a 2008 black MacBook and acess UK tv through a puchased proxy. I want to purchase a Sony Bravia internet connected tv and stream the site through a tv - Sony tell me this won't work - that a latest model tv cannot capture content and sites from a MacBook - is this true???? Surely there is a solution? Any help or advice welcome.

They are correct.  The only stream you can wireless connect the TV to a Mac is through an AppleTV, and that's purchased content on iTunes, and your own homemade content that is H.264 MPEG-4 that is 1800kbps.   Conversion of commercial video to that format is illegal, and hence how can not be stated on the forum.    Alternatively, as long as the TV is HDMI, you can wired connect it to your MacBook using the same advice here:

  • HT4623 Updated iTunes to latest version, updated iPhone to iOS 7 and now my phone won't work at all.  Won't connect to my WiFi, and won't talk to iTunes . . . Now what do I do?

I now have a useless $700 phone.  Updated iTunes to latest version (and can't get it to revert back to an earlier version), updated iPhone (iPhone5) to iOS 7 and now it won't talk to iTunes, nor will it connect to my WiFi.  What should I try now?

If it won't talk at all to iTunes, you can hold down the power and home button for 10 seconds, it will power off, this is ok, then let go of the power button while holding the home button until iTunes sees it as a device in recovery mode.  You can try to reinstall iOS7 and then restore.

  • I am trying to authorise my new macbook air and it won't let me. I try to de-authorise all the other computers and it says I can only do this once a year and have to wait until the 7th Feb. It does not give me an option to authorise this computer

I am trying to authorise my new macbook air for i-tunes and it won't let me. I try to de-authorise all the other computers and it says I can only do this once a year and have to wait until the 7th Feb. It does not give me an option to authorise this computer

Always remember to 'de-authorize' you computer when selling or sending for service. If sending for repairs you might not get the same mother board or HD back and some how this counts as an authorized computer against your count.
