Macbook & Applecare Extended Warranty

I bought a Macbook last February 11th and obviously the warranty runs out today. I meant to get the Applecare Extended Warranty but never realised I have had my Macbook for a year now.
If I was to get the Applecare now would I still be able to use it, is there a 30 day grace or something, or am I too late.
regards Paul

And no, there is no "grace period". Once your warranty runs out, you can no longer get AppleCare for your system. So as elmac said, you need to call or visit the Apple Store today, and hope that the warranty on your system runs out today and didn't actually run out yesterday.

  • I'm looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have questions about the Applecare extended warranty?

I'm looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have questions about the Applecare extended warranty? I want to know if the 3 year extended warranty covers what damage. Like water damage, accidental damage, lost or stolen macbook, manufactory defects, or any other kind of damage, maybe be even cosmetic damage. Can anyone help me?

If you are talking about features of the MBP itself, as long as you are not looking at  the Retina models, then the memory you can upgrade yourself for a lot less than Apple charges, and that does not affect the warranty as Apple considers memory a user permitted upgrade.  Great sources are Crucial and OWC, both are Mac specialists and have on-line videos on how to do the install.
If the 15" is what you are looking at, a good upgrade is the 7200 rpm hard drive, gives a little better performance over the standard 5400 rpm drive.
The Hi Res screen is good if you do a lot of graphics work.
Comparing the 13" amd 15" you will notice the 15" has a second, discrete graphic processor...helps when you get into heavy duty videos, games, graphics...but keep in mind that kicking in the second processor uses a lot of power and will run the battery down faster.
If you are looking at the Retina models, then keep in mind there are no post-purchase upgrade options...you have to buy with everything you want at the start.
    Just some thoughts.

  • Can i get applecare extended warranty plan on replacement set.

can i get applecare extended warranty plan on replacement set.

It depends on the country you're in and when you purchased your original iPhone. If you're in a country where Apple offers AppleCare+ (the plan that included accidental-damage coverage), you must purchase AppleCare at the time you first buy your iPhone or within 30 calendar days. If you're in a country where Apple still offers the original AppleCare plan, you can purchase a plan any time within one year from the time you purchased the original iPhone. Having replaced the iPhone should not affect your ability to buy AppleCare as long as the iPhone was replaced by Apple or an authorized iPhone service provider. Contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store, if you have them in your area, for information on purchasing an AppleCare plan.
    Regards.

  • Applecare Extended Warranty: What happens after 3 years?

Does Apple offer an extended warranty beyond the original 3 year extended warranty originally offered? For instance, when my three years of extended warranty runs out, will I be offered a renewal or ??
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Melyssa:
To my knowledge, there is no "extended-extended" warranty. There are a couple of programs that Apple has announced to address specific hardware issues (outside of warranty periods) that have specific expiration dates.

  • Applecare Extended Warranty

Is this product available to MacBook-users in England ? My Credit-Card information correctly shows my billing- and delivery-addresses as in the 'U.K.'
However, when I try to place my order, the mask shows my addresses as in the 'U.S.'
If I ignore that, and place the order anyway, the display -- not surprisingly -- shows that the data in the fields for 'State' and 'Zip-code' are incorrect.

I guess, you really need to check, that you are on
    UK Web.
    Or contact UK Apple Store.

  • AppleCare vs. credit card extended warranty

Hi, I'm considering buying my first Mac (the Macbook Pro). Regarding the AppleCare extended warranty: is this worthwhile? My credit card company provides an additional year of warranty coverage (for a total of two years), although I don't know how this would relate to having the Mac serviced by an authorised Apple technician.
      Windows XP Pro

I have to agree with the other poster. With my TiBook Apple took such good care of me that I think AppleCare with a laptop is a great deal.
I was able to use my tibook for 4 1/2 years thanks to applecare. One of the great examples of AppleCare is simple things like get the mac to them and back.
Apple shipped me a great padded box/shipping kit, overnight. Then I shipped it back to them overnight and they got it back to me the next day. It was like magic. Your credit card is not going to help with that.

  • AppleCare 3yr Warranty

I just Purchased a New Sealed in the box MacBook Pro 2.6ghz 200mb HD 4gb Ram.
Computer on ebay. it came with a 3yr AppleCare Extended Warranty. I went online and registered the Computer. Then whent online and put in the serial Number for the applecare Warranty. It DOES show that there is a 3 yr AppleCare Warranty until Sept, 2011. However how do I get that in my Name?? on my AppleCare Protection Plan Page. along with my other 3 computers??? They all show up on the page but this one does not.

Call AppleCare to have the warranty transferred to your name.

  • Macbook Pro When warranty start?

    Hi guys,
May I know when did the MacbookPro warranty start?
The date of purchased or the date of setup?
I have an unit which haven open or sealed off at all,
but it have been bought from the store a month ago.
    I get few version online.
Some said the date of purchase while some said it require user to register online.
Although there are several discussion in earlier,
but that was few years ago. May I have the latest confirm info?
    Anyone Please?

I don't know but I assumed the date you bought it and took possession. No not the date you open the box or register online. You have anytime during the first year of possession to buy Applecare extended warranty, a must have for any laptop due to the problems that arise.

  • Can I purchase warranty, or extended warranty for the used iPad I purchased?

I've just purchased an iPad 3g that is in pristine - like new condition, works beautifully and has no flaws of ANY kind.
Do I have the option to purchase the warranty? or extended warranty?
Or does any of the original warranty transfer to me?
(I did already go to the Apple website and register the product via serial number under my name.)
    Thanks!
    -Love it by the way!

If you live in the U.S.... the device is covered under the warranty for one year from the date of purchase - no matter who owns it. I would make sure that I had the original receipt for the purchase of the iPad just so that you can document the original purchase. You cannot buy an AppleCare+ extended warranty now - if you live in the U.S.
However, there seems to be some confusion as to whether you can still purchase the old Apple Care warranty in the U.S. it is no longer listed in the Apple Online Store. You would have to call Apple to find out for sure.
If the owner has the AppleCare+ extended warranty, it can be transferred to you according to these terms.
    10. Transfer of Plan
Subject to the restrictions set forth below, you may make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your rights under the Plan to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer includes the original proof of purchase, the Plan's Confirmation and all of the Plan's printed materials and these Terms and Conditions; (b) you notify Apple of the transfer by sending, faxing or e-mailing notice of transfer to Apple Inc., ATTN: Agreement Administration, MS: 217-AC, 2511 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758, U.S., fax number 916- 405-3655 or [email protected], respectively, and (c) the party receiving the Plan accepts the terms and conditions of the Plan. When notifying Apple of the transfer of the Plan, you must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial number of the Covered iPad being transferred, and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner.

  • Macbook extended warranty?

I didn't get the extended warranty when I got my macbook a couple months back. I was planning on getting it later before it ends. I heard doing this I'd have to let the store I buy the plan from keep my macbook for a little while to check it out to make sure nothings wrong with it and I'm not just getting the extended warranty because I know somethings wrong. it would make sense if they did this yet at the same time it doesn't because as far as I know you have to get it before the intial warranty is up, so if you got it in that time why would you need an extended warranty to take care of it if the original is still active.
does anyone know if this is true?

The only problem with this is that Apple will not
talk to you on the phone about problems with your
MacBook 90 days after purchasing it. You'll have to
pay a $49 per-incident fee, or buy AppleCare.
As another poster pointed out, that fee is waived if it's a hardware problem. Furthermore, even if you pay that several times, at $137 for five years total coverage from VISA, you're still going to be ahead. The best way to get service when you're covered by VISA is simply to take it to an Apple service provider and get them to fix it or send it to Apple.
Another great thing about VISA performance guarantee is that they have a no lemo policy. if the repair costs more than 70% (not entirely sure about the percentage) of the original purchase price they'll give you a new one. Same thing if it needs repair for the same issue more than three times. They're also always on your side and won't argue with you. Fast and great service has been the norm since I started using this service three years ago.

  • Can I purchase extended warranty for macbook pro after 1 year warranty expired?

Can I purchase extended warranty for macbook pro after 1 year warranty expired? Macbook bought 2011 November?

    OK thanks for your replies.
Now if something goes wrong how can my Macbook Pro be fixed cheaply. Two of my friends have bills for $1300 and $1100, one to repair motherboard another is to replace screen. One has extended warranty.
Is there a cheap way to get a macbook repaired.
    Thanks.

  • HT201198 how much do i pay in indian rupee for applecare protection ( 2nd year extended warranty ) for iphone 5c

how much do i pay in indian rupee for applecare pack ( 2nd year extended warranty ) for iphone 5c

Right. So you're telling me that Apple has left someone in charge who is totally screwing their customers' experience and no one at Apple will help reign them in and set them straight?
I guarantee you that she's not the only person who's had this experience and it **** well sours me from buying another iPhone if I know it won't be taken care of if something goes wrong.
I've posted this to let Apple know there's something woefully wrong with their partner and to get that fixed as well. I know Vodafone is the one I'm supposed to deal with; I just want that to be improved.

  • I dropped my Macbook few months ago...should I get extended warranty still?

    Hi all,
My macbook was dropped down on hard floor like 3 months ago, and the lower right corner of the aluminum case kind of bent in a little, but it didn't do any damage to the hard drive or whatsoever. But if you look at it closely, you can definitely tell it's out of shape :'(
My original warranty is about to expire in a month, and I'd want to get extended warranty, but the problem is, will the Apple staff use this against me if something wrong happens? Because if so, there's really no point to buy warranty if knowing that they won't do anything.
Also, after the warranty expires, will they charge me for bringing it in the Apple store for software help?
Any response is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

will the Apple staff use this against me if something wrong happens?
Nobody here would know that. You don't know until if/when you bring it in for any repair.

  • Extending warranty for MacBook 13" (2007, Generation3)?

I have upgraded my MacBook from Tiger to Snow Leopard. Can I register Sow Leopard online with Apple? I bought my MacBook in 2007 and my 3-years Apple Care protection expires in July 2010. Can I get an extended warranty again for my Apple MacBook or software?

    Hello.
Apple does not offer a warranty longer than the initial 3 year Apple Care plan. You might be able to find a third party warranty service but I've never heard of any them offer their plan for a 3 year old electronic.
Luckily the Apple Retail Store offers free tech support at the Genius Bar and if your Mac needs a repair then a quote to fix it can be offered. http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar

  • Extended Warranty for MacBook or MacBook Pro??

We are a company of consultants who are frustratingly enslaved to MicroSith. We are frustrated and would consider moving to Mac, if we can get an extended warranty past 3 years. Currently, we are on a 5 year life-cycle for hardware. We have purchased from Dell and get their extended warranty. I've already asked Apple and they only have a 3 year. But, is there any third-party warranty provider that will extend that?
Please help release me from the empire!

If you pay for a mac using a decent credit card which had this as a benefit - then using a credit card may automatically double your warranty. Check Visa purchase guard for example.
To my knowledge, Visa will also sell extended warranties for 5 years, as will many retailers and Square Trade. The question is whether what you pay now for years 4 and 5 cover outweighs what the machine will be worth then, in which case it would better just to put the money in the bank. Some people suggest that for all extended warranties mind you.
    Best of luck.
