MacBook (Basic) fully frozen, NOTHING WORKS!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

I was using my MacBook to type out some work on Office:mac, while simultaneously using iTunes to update my iPod 5G, 60GB. The iPod seemed to have finished updating (the "Do Not Disconnect" animation stopped, and i was back to my main menu), so i pulled out my iPod.
MacBook then froze, with iTunes and Word still open. The colourful spiral mouse thing is active, and i can still move the mouse. However, there is nothing i can click. MacBook doesn't respond to the power button, and refuses to turn off. I unplugged it from the mains power adapter, and waited for it to drain, but when I checked it this morning (plugged it back in) it loaded, and started just where it left off, in a permanent crashed state!!
Force Quit doesnt work, what else can I do?!?!?!
Thanks for your anticipated help!

Thanks, yeah I had to remove the battery and DC to get it sorted. It's up and running now. Thanks a lot!
Turns out that my iPod library is messed up - some tracks cant play! I'm guessing its related to this problem - due to unwanted disconnecting, but it WILL be fixed if i DO update it properly, right?
Thanks again!

  • Nothing Working - Please Help

I have been using Skype for years, never once had a problem before. Now, all of a sudden I can't do anything on it. I can get to the home page, and I can click on a contact and get to the screen where I can message/call them. Making calls does not work, messages do not send. Sometimes I will get a call but only hear the sound it makes, I am never able to actually answer it. Other times, I can see that I'm receiving a call (no sound) but when I click answer, nothing happens. The farthest my friend and I have ever gotten in the past two weeks is the 'connecting' screen, but it crashes shortly after. I'm very frustrated and just want to skype call my friend. Please help me.

Try to install Skype for Windows desktop version:

  • I want to unistall mozilla off my desktop but nothing works. Please help?

I have tried everything in the community support pages in an attempt to uninstall Mozilla firefox off my desktop. Noting works. How do I get this off my computer. Please Help....Thank you

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps: However note this will just be the unintalling version.
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
Please report back to say if this helped you!

  • Macbook won't boot up, nothing works, Please help

I have a 13' macbook pro (2009). In the past year, it keeps having problems. Basically, it freezes and won't boot-up. However, this could always be fixed via boot into safe mode, or reinstalling the OS. Previous hardware diagnostics never detected hardware failure. I've never touched anything inside the computer including hard disk, RAM, battery and everything else.
Today, it froze as it did before, and I could not manage to boot it by ANY means. After I press the power button, no grey screen, no apple, it just froze on a blue screen. I was running okay before it froze up. I had safari and skype running and nothing else.
The computer did not response to any of the startup key combinations (I've tried every single one that I could find online, including resetting NVRAM and SMC). It won't boot from installation disc, and, since startup keys did not work, I could not eject the disc. One strange thing is that when the computer froze at the blue screen, pressing power button will IMMEDIATELY shut down everything. That is, I did not have to hold the power button to shut it down, it seemed as if all the power was unplugged at once.
Could someone tell me, what could possibly be the problem? Thank you very much!!!

Could be a HD failure, logic board failure or the SATA cable failure. If you have AppleCare on it take it your local Apple Store or AASP to be looked at.
    Roger

  • TS1398 I used to be able to connect to this wifi. Now I am unable to do so because there is a duplicate IP address. This is there error it gives me. I tried everything in this article but nothing works. please help.

Everytime I try to connect, it gives me a message which reads http://www.apple.com Duplicate IP address: you must login with a different IP address". Help!

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    And reboot the Wi-Fi router.

  • My ipod 5 wont turn on at all and my home button is broken, i tried connecting it to itunes on my computer but nothing works please help!!!

My ipod 5 gen wont turn on at all

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPOd in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my keynote has frozen and wont open but the saved version wont open either. if i restart my laptop i am afraid that it will erase my work. please help me

Try this repair for Keynote 6.2,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash

Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.
Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
    4
when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions
    5
when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

install Keynote from the Mac App Store
let us know if this helped

  • I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 1T hdd 8GB Ram and ran Maverick without problem...Yosemite installation has me completely frozen, nothing works but the spinning ball...I had to force shutdown last night, and haven't turned it on again...what do you ad

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 1T hdd 8GB Ram and ran Maverick without problem...Yosemite installation has me completely frozen, nothing works but the spinning ball...I had to force shutdown last night, and haven't turned it on again...what do you advise?  During installation emptied cache, etc. Backed up using time machine, fortunately.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
