MacBook Battery not updating?

Hi
I recently bought a new genuine battery for my MacBook Core Duo 2Ghz.
I wanted to make sure I get the most from the battery so I checked to see if it needed updating, which it does.
I downloaded 'Battery Update 1.4' and went through installation fine and it rebooted the laptop.
However, when I goto system profiler the 'Pack Lot Number' is still 0000 and should be 0003 after the update.
Also the firmware is 102 but should be 110 or higher.
Im confused as to why it's not updating and im now worried that I have spent a fair bit of money on a battery thats gunna fail again in a few months....
Can anyone help?

SMC reset
SMC reset
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • HT4889 My new iMac says that my old Macbook is not updated to the latest Yosemite software so it won't let me migrate files. But I have checked my Macbook and it says that it is updated. What should I do?

I am trying to migrate files from an old Macbook--which is already updated with the latest Yosemite software--to a new iMac that also has the latest Yosemite software. But I keep getting an error message that says that my old Macbook is not updated. What should I do?

If the 2 computers have the correct cable connections, try the Target Disk Mode.

  • Macbook pro not updating IMovie

My macbook pro recently updated to os x 10.9.1. It had problems doing so. The updates page says it is done, but it will not accept an IMovie update which requires 10.9.1 to be installed first. Any suggestions?

I did a safe boot and reinstalled 10.9.1. All ok now.

  • IPhone 5 keeps restarting itself and battery not updating

    So basically:
I opened up the control center yesterday and clicked Play on the music and the phone switched itself off then back on. Ever since then, it's gone crazy... Bare in mind this is a new replacement and I'm booked in at Apple on Thursday but that's a long time to go with a non-working piece of ****.
    So anyway;
The iPhone restarts itself (comes up with grey/green lines on the screen then turns itself off/on).
The battery will not update, I could leave it charging for literally all day and it'd stay at 1% but if I restart the phone, only then will it update.
I have tried resetting the phone, setting up as new etc but the same problem occurs...
Any guidance right now? I can't deal with this for another 6 days... Thanks.

The battery is dead.  You need to change the battery.

  • MacBook battery not recognised!

    Hi all,
I know this is a common issue, but the battery on my MacBook 2,1 is definitely kaput.
It isn't recognised in OS X anymore, and the battery indicator on the bottom of the battery doesn't work either.
I heard that Apple did a replacement program for the batteries.
Is this the case? or am I going to have to shell out £90 for a new battery?
    Thanks

You might try an SMC reset, however, what you've described does sound like a dead battery. SMC reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
There aren't any Apple MacBook battery repair programs listed, however, you could talk to your local dealer to see what they can do for you.
Is it possible that you bought the system with a credit card that extends the Apple warranty coverage?

  • Macbook battery not charging after software update

I was doing some work on my MacBook (4,1) with the charger plugged in and the lid closed (I was using my TV as a montior. There was a software update for itunes and a few others and now it's saying the battery needs to be serviced!
The battery currently has 62% charge, i've not disconnected the charger once in teh few hours I was working. Anyone got any ideas as to what could cause this?
The change to needing the battery serviced was not straight after the update, I don't think so anyway. I've not really noticed it until I went to pick up my MacBook and it all started to go haywire. It because unresponsive, black screen etc.
I've tried to reset the SMC and i've checked the charge cycyles too and it's about 250 so there's no problem there. It's just annoying as this is the 3rd battery i've had for this macbook, the other two being replaced under warranty. Now the warranty is up and it needs chaging for a 4th time!

    Hi imi_uk,
I see you marked this question as "solved" is that the case?
If not, are you able to startup your computer via "safe boot" by holding the SHIFT key on startup (until the Apple logo appears and the gear appears below it).
The next step, would also be to boot off the system restore disc that came with your computer and attempt to repair the volume (the internal HD) via the the built-in disc utility.

  • Macbook Battery Not Holding A Full Charge Please Help!!!

I Have a Macbook that is just over a year old and I have noticed a considerable decrease in battery performance over the past few months. I leave it plugged in but I do use it without the plug at least a few times a month lke the Apple site recommends. Now, when I charge my battery fully the computer says it is 100% charged yet it only has 68% capacity/status. (It says this on the coconut battery widget I have) I only have 32 load cycles on the battery so it is obvious that I'm not a havey battery user. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem I see no reason why my capacity should be 68% after only 32 loadcycles and one year especially since apple claims it should hold 80% after 300 loadcycles.
    Thank You

When was the last time you calibrated your battery? I do mine every other month. Have you done the battery update?
You might try to reset the SMC.

  • Macbook Battery not lasting as advertised?

Well, firstly, to begin with, I'm new here, so any info that i might miss, just ask for =p
Now onto the main topic, which happens to be that the battery on my literally not even week old Macbook is only lasting around two and a half hours, when Apple clearly advertises around five. I did a little test, and turned off the airport (only thing i have on, don't use the bluetooth), and the battery still displays the same charge. Would this be something i should report to Apple, or is there a different set of solutions for this? And obviously buying anything means report to apple, since its not even 14 days old yet =p

That number is more of a theoretical maximum than a practical one.
What applications do you have running? Is the fan running? How bright is the screen? Are you using the volume?
Also, let's take a look at the capacity information for the battery and make sure it's reasonable for a new battery.
In Applications>Utilities, open *System Profiler*. Click Power in the left hand information, then copy the battery information and paste it here.

  • Macbook will not update from 10.9.3 to 10.9.5

My macbook wont update. In the "About This Mac" window it says I have version 10.9.3, and in the App Store it says I have updated to version 10.9.5 on 4 different dates (which I have tried to do). It also states that there are no new updates availeable.
Also; I keep getting this message when I try to enter network preferences: "There was an error in Network preference pane.". As a result I can only connect to networks that have already been registered, and sometimes I have to restart to connect after sleep.

  • Macbook battery not working - computer switching off - help!

My Macbook has suddenly started switching off when the power supply is disconnected, even though the battery should be charged.
This happened after buying a new macbook AC adaptor. My old 60watt adaptor has been getting quite hot, so I did a bit of reading on the web and bought a new 85watt adaptor, which is supposed to resolve the problem. I bought one off ebay - had no idea what I doing really so may have bought a dodgy one? It was £30 which I've been told (now!) is suspiciously cheap! I plugged it in once and all seemed fine then when I removed the magsafe adaptor for a moment my computer just sort of died, well, switched off. I now can't restart it from the battery at all. It works fine with the adaptor (I'm using my old 60watt one again now.) In the moment before I remove my adaptor, the battery looks 'fully charged' then just switches off.
I tried downloading BatteryUpdate 1.2 but it has made no difference.
What have I done?? Can it be fixed? Please help!
PS. Here is my info from the 'power' section within 'About This Mac':

  • My emails on Mail on my macbook are not updating

Meaning if I have read or deleted an email on another device its still showing as new on my macbook . How can I set it up so it updates on my macbook?

Are you wanting your assistant to read/respond to your emails? or just be able to send?
If just sending, have them append your email address to the 'Email Address' field in Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> (mail account).
For example, if their email address is currently '[email protected]', they can change it to '[email protected], [email protected]', then they can choose which address to send a message from when they create new messages.
If you want them to read and reply to your messages then just add an additional IMAP account in Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts. You'll need to complete your server username and password, of course, then they'll have full access to your mailbox and can read/delete/reply just as you can.
