MacBook - Bluetooth - Phone (_Nokia 6021_) - GPRS - Internet

I've connected Nokia 6021 to my MacBook via BT. iSync worsks properly, but when I try to enable GPRS service, MacBook connects to the phone and disconnects, signalling error.
Is this connection possible?

No, no emails with attachments get through, even if the attachment is only 1K in size.
And we're not using Vodafone's SMTP server, although when we tried that to see if our server was the problem (even though it is fine for hundreds of IMAP accounts from other clients on multiple platforms) results we the same.
We have several 6230s (and some 6230is) that work just fine. We have one 6021 that works just fine. All the others don't, and the only difference (as far as I can tell) is the firmware version.
I think that there is some funky bluetooth thing going on between the PocketPC PDA and the v04.10 6021s. Possibly it could be a fault with the PDA only, but as I said, the 6230s work fine.

I have bluetooth in my PowerBook and I want to be able to use a bluetooth phone to connect to the internet when I am away from home. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good bluetooth phone to use or any suggestions? I have Verizon as my service provider.

    Hello
I haven't tried this, but found this on the net, which requires some additional scripts for the Mac for the Motorola Razr phone.

  • Which Bluetooth phone "just works"?

I have a Bluetooth-equipped PowerBook running 10.4.2 and I live in a country where I can use the cell phone as a GPRS modem. I'd like to get that going, but I want to buy the phone that can be set up most easily and reliably.
I spent hours trying to get my machine to connect with a Sony Ericsson K700i, with no luck, even though the cell phone had internet access and my machine could communicate with it via Bluetooth. Now, I'd like to find a phone that actually is considered completely Mac-compatible, including all the synchronization and other features. Any suggestions/experiences? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I don't have the phone any longer. The store is about a 5-hour drive from me, and I'm pretty sure I tried everything on Ross' page before deciding it didn't work. I read all the documents many times.
The phone itself was able to initiate the GPRS connection, so I know it works with my plan. And my Mac was able to communicate with the phone, but it failed every time when contacting or authenticating with the PPP server. Oh, and yes, I entered icecelular into the number field.
Based on your response, I am considering just ordering the K700i and taking my chances that I'll eventually get it to work, but it's an expensive gamble in this part of the world. Also, having to download third-party scripts, try a all of them to see which one works, and follow a bunch of instructions about what I might have to enter in a few different fields does not qualify as "just working" in my book. That's what caused me to post my original note. If there's a phone I can set up with the Bluetooth Assistant and one of Apple's included scripts (I've heard mention of some older Sony Ericsson models, and some newer Motorolas), that might be a better choice.
Unfortunately, my limited access to both the phone and the internet do not make it practical to troubleshoot the setup online. I need to find a setup that's supposed to work well and then take my PowerBook and SIM card into the store before I buy it.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Windows Vista & GPRS-internet on N80 through BT

    Hi All,
Did anyone face a problem with N80 in establishing a connection to a mobile GPRS internet using One-touch Access from PC Suite (via Bluetooth!)?
The error is that PC Suite doesn't find any suitable modem (In OS modem list, a standard bluetooth modem figures).
Tip - the same phoneset, same GSM provider and same PC Suite on another PC (XP sp2) - no problem.
    Would appreciate any help...

same problem for me as well.. I can dial from the bluesoleil interface though but i prefer to do everything from Nokia PC-suite
    Solutions anyone.

  • Bluetooth Phone Connectivity

I am getting a new cell phone and want to use bluetooth to sync with my Macbook Pro. Will all bluetooth phones sync? If not, is there a list of the ones that will? Thanks.

You can share your "cellular data" with the computer and other devices through "personal hotspot". You may use USB cable, Bluetooth or Wifi for sharing.
Reverse tethering (sharing internet connection of your computer with iPhone) is not supported.
Call your carrier and activate the cellular data/3G plan on your package. Note that "personal hotspot/internet tethering" is operator dependent feature. Confirm with your carrier or go through this article to see if your carrier is listed and offers this service.

  • Wanting to connect to bluetooth phone for internt access

Can anyone please help me. I just purchased a Powerbook 17" G4 and I want to use it on my vacation. I want to find out, since none of the people at the phone services think it can be done, what phone and service I can use to connect my Mac to the internet using the cell phone. If anyone can provide me with this information I would be grateful I live in St. Louis, Missouri, if that matters.
Thank you for your time in reading this topic!

Did you resolve the question? I was so engrossed in how to get the Razr3 to work that it didn't occur that I could help. I have always had a great success with sony ericsson bluetooth phones and my laptop. Until now I have had service with AT&T. The tech at AT&T had me set my PB to dial 99**1#. I clicked on the settings for bluetooth and clicked connect and the icon showed data in motion and I was online. I haven't had the same experience with Motorola unfortunately.

Can't find information in tech specs.
Is it Apple devices ONLY (iPhones, iPods ...) or it can be other devices like mobile phones or stuff?

But today, 30 May, having spent over a MONTH since my team reached the offices of the service STILL NOT READY TO HAVE MY NOTEBOOK despite repeated calls by phone to request as soon as possible under the same (and taking all paid for and that they could not order the parts without prior cancellation). just hide behind cheap explanations as' the replacement has already been requested, has not yet reached. • Bluetooth Phone not Working

I recently bought an LG BlueTooth phone and am very frustrated because I can't seem to communicate with it at all through my iBook. Bluetooth works fine with my keyboard. I set up Bluetooth on the phone and the iMac found it no problem. It gave me a passkey to enter on the phone and I added it as a device without any trouble.
Problem is that I can't communicate with it at all. I have tried the following types of communication:
    1. Download/Upload with address book. Address Book doesn't even give me an option to download numbers from my phone. iSync says "iSynx cannot connect to this device" when I try adding it. I tried sending a single address card to my phone with Address Book and it said "Unable to validate device."
    2. I can't find any way to download or upload photos from/to my phone.
    3. As a modem is doesn't work either. Internet Connect says "Unable to communicate with the device."
Does anyone know how to solve any of this? I thought the whole point of BlueTooth was that it works cross platform, but it looks like OS X doesn't work with cell phones other than the iPhone or something like that. Any ideas?

LG phones are notoriously tricky to get working with Macs, not because of any shortcomings in the Mac, but because LG have chosen to ignore most of the industry standards for connectivity.
The other thing that could be causing your problem, is that many US network providers deliberately cripple the phones Bluetooth functionality to stop you from doing what you want. This forces customers to use 'over-the-air' transfers thereby making more money for the network.
Address Book needs to have explicit support for specific models for the dialling and SMS functions to work. There is no support in Address Book for ANY LG phone.
If Mac connectivity is so important, I would seriously suggest avoiding LG phones and switch to Sony Ericsson or Nokia, which both support industry standards and work great with Macs.

  • Bluetooth Phone & MBP

My phone is bluetooth and I know it can sync with my MBP and iMac. What I am wondering is if anybody knows if there is any software out there where i can sync them and then answer my phone on the MBP using the builtin microphone and speakers. If there is anything anybody knows about, let me know. If not, I think they should make something like that.
    Thanks a head.

Interesting question. You can definitely use a Bluetooth headset with your Mac (to listen to audio coming from your Mac), since the Bluetooth stack on MacOS supports the handsfree profile. And you can connect your phone to your Mac to sync, as well as get call notifications (e.g., you can go into AddressBook and pair up with your phone, and if a call comes in and caller ID is in effect, it will pick up the matching address card and show you who is calling. Does the same with SMS messages. You can also dial your Bluetooth phone from Address Book.
Note that some of these things won't work on all phones. I can't, for example, dial out through my BT phone, because the one I have doesn't support being triggered externally. But many phones will work fine this way.
I don't think you can turn this around, though, and have the phone pair with the computer such that it thinks the computer is a handsfree headset. At least not as far as I know. It would be a bit tricky to make this happen, because you'd have to convince the Mac's bluetooth stack to publish itself as a handsfree device when it pairs with the phone, and I don't think it's wired that way.
