MacBook couldn't detect my house WiFi

My MacBook (Model is Late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display) is in internet recovery status, problem is I've erased everything and now my MacBook couldn't detect my house WiFi, what can I do? My iPhone and iPad is able to connect my house WiFi
I've tried restart my modem, turn it off unplug everything and turn it on back but still not working.

Do you get the prompt to connect to a WiFi signal? A box that says something like Choose a WiFi network?
Why exactly did you wipe the drive in the first place? What was wrong that you needed to do that?

  • My macbook air will not detect my home wifi anymore!

    In Summary:
Macbook air used to work perfectly on home wifi
Wifi dropped one day and all devises lost connection but when the wifi was fixed the MBA wouldn't detect it anymore even though all other devises did
MBA still works on all other wifi networks
How can I get my MBA to detect the home wifi again / why won't they link anymore?
My home wifi (Sky is the provider) dropped one day because the lines went down but after it was fixed the macbook air (2012) stopped detecting it..
The macbook will detect any other wifi network (office, public, friends houses etc) and works perfectly but will not even pick up the home wifi.
This is particularly confusing because all other devises including iphones, laptops, tablets etc will detect my home wifi without a problem.
The only time it has connected to the home wifi since dropping is when my laptop picked up my neighbour's wifi (which is rare where i live as houses are far apart) and then my home wifi showed up and worked perfectly until i closed the MBA and it wouldnt pick it up again
I have been without internet in my house for c. 6 weeks now even though the laptop appears to work ok on other networks and the home wifi works perfectly with other devices
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Go to System Preferences > Network. Select Wi-Fi or AirPort from the left column. Click the Advanced... button.
Under the Preferred Networks list, select every Wi-Fi network that appears, including the one(s) you want to use, and delete every one using the "–" (minus) button. Select the box "Remember networks this computer has joined" if it is not already selected.
    OK then Apply.
Select your wireless network in your Mac's Wi-Fi menu and provide your wireless network password. Be sure the network you select is yours and not someone else's.

  • Macbook air not detecting home wifi but detecting all other networks in vicinity. Other devices are able to connect to home network.

I have had this problem since yesterday. My macbook air is not detecting the home wifi network it used to be connected to. A manual addition of the network is also not working. I also tried using network utility which gives the details of all networks available and their details, but the home network does not feature there.
However, my iPhone is able to connect to the home wifi without a glitch. I am right now using a mobile data card to access internet, but need to get back to the home network.
I found various users posting the same problem online, but am yet to find a conclusive problem. Here are two threads on apple support which are similar to my case.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2445976?threadID=2445976
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/10695921?messageID=10695921&start=1#106959 21?messageID=10695921&start=1
    Please help!

It was not working for me either and I spent a day looking at things other people did when they had similar problems. Never could find a conclusive response and what has been suggested here was always almost the only thing mentioned. I wish you luck and hopefully someone can actually point out the one true thing that is doing this!
This is the exact sequence of events: I switched off the main supply to the house when I was going out, and when I came back this problem occurred. I was searching desperately online and just when I had given up, I decided to switch mains off and then back on. It picked up the wifi, and has been working since. This was a shocker and mostly a coincidence. Wont hurt to try.

  • MacBook can't detect WiFi

    Dear forum members,
I know that this problem is discussed in several other threads and also on other fora. However, the WiFi-problems vary in such a way that I cannot completely relate to them.
    The problem:
My macbook cannot detect our own WiFi network. It can detect other WiFi networks.
The strange thing is: we have one Windows laptop, 2 Iphones and 1 Ipad which all 'see' and connect to our WiFi network.
    Some specifications:
    - In a desperate attempt to fix the problem I have erased the HD and did a fresh installation of Lion OS. The same problems still occurs. (please no discussion on whether a fresh install is necessary on Mac's)
    - The laptop has been connecting to the same WiFi for almost a year without any problems.
    - Nothing apparent has happened in our home network that I can think of.
    - It concerns a macbook from 2008 with a fresh Lion OS installed on it.
    - The WiFi network is WPA2 protected.
    - The laptop is able to connect to our router by using a normal cable.
I am Dutch, so my apologies in advance for any grammar or spelling mistakes.
Edit: sometimes the WiFi is visible but when I try to connect, a time out error occurs.
    Michel

I don't have any solution but you may get a better response on the wireless community.

  • I keep getting kicked off of my wifi on my macbook pro.  It is the wifi in my house.  I get kicked off like every few minutes or so.  Why is this and how can I stop it?

I keep getting kicked off of my wifi on my macbook pro.  It is the wifi in my house.  I get kicked off like every few minutes or so.  Why is this and how can I stop it?

I think the other devices are fine.  I'm not sure.  It usually only happens like a couple days out of the week.  I do know that the network I'm using when I click on the wifi symbol at the top of my screen doesn't have a padlock on it.  It IS MY network that is at my house, but maybe that has something to do with it.

  • HT1338 macbook pro with os 10.8.2 doesn´t detect my home wifi

My macbook pro retina with os 10.8.2 doesn´t detect my home wifi. It detects all other wifi networks. All my other devices detect the same network.  The issue has been there for last 2 days and it is intermittent. It detects and joins sometimes but mostly it fails.
I have tried restarting my mac, resetting the router, changing wifi name, password, etc. but no luck.

    Hi,
Until last 5 minutes, the mac was not connecting to the network. It was detecting occasionally but when I try the password it would time out.  But suddenly out of no where Im able to log into the network now.  The details are
    PHY Mode: 802.11g
    Channel: 13 (2.4 GHz)
If I shut down now or put it to sleep, it wont detect the network when I light it up again... Is there any channel change I need to do now to fix the issue for good?
    Appreciate your time!
    Arun
Now I have installed iStumbler and it shows close to 50 wifi networks 20 of which are on channel 11 or 13 (same as mine) with frequency around 2400.
Is that the cause.  If so, do you suggest I change my channel to, say 20 or something? How do I change the channel?

  • Macbook PRO can't find ANY Wifi network - only at home

Hi, i have a very strange problem with my *Macbook Pro*. I have 3 apple computers at home and one pc. On all machines Wifi works fine, except my new alu Macbook Pro. Important note is, when im with my macbook on other place, office, caffe, *Wifi works fine. But when im at home, this macbook simply can't find ANY network, it's blind.* Interesting thing is, all other computers are several years old and WiFi works fine on them. My friend also bought a brand new macbook pro, and this machine also couldn't fine any network at my home, or in other case when it found networks, it couldn't connect and recieve error message "Connection timed out". I noticed there is new Wifi network in our range, is it possible that this network can cause "blindness" on new macbooks?

*I have to say, I'm really glad you are trying to help guys.*
Well, router is almost on default settings, SSID is brodcasted and i'm not filtering MAC adresses. I tried changed channels, diffrent types of security or no security, no luck.
Guys, maybe i wrote it wrong, but this MacBook can't see ANY network. Around me there are 4-6 other networks which I'm able to see from other machines. So *problem is, this Macbook can't seen ANY network - not just mine.* BUT when i'm with this Macbook in office for example, or any other location, Wifi works....
And one more important thing, this happened suddenly. I was able few months ago to find any WiFi around me with this Macbook. No changes to router, no changes to mac. Problem is somwhere in the middle...try to focus on this: why i'm not able to see any of those cca 6 networks around me. I really think it has to do something with distorted signal and Wifi card used in new macbooks. It's really sick, because all other machines works perfectly (MB 07, MBP 06, PC, iPhone 3g)
I found a log on the router, and it's happening all the time:

  • Why can't I connect to my house wifi?

I just recently moved to a new house and my macbook pro can't connect to the wifi. Even if it was connected, the page doesnt load. Sometimes it works fine but usually it disconnects. When i try connecting back, it says "connection time out" or "invalid password". The other laptops in the house doesnt have any problem connecting. My iphone also does not have any problem connecting either. Whenever i try clicking "network diagnostics" and click on my wifi, it says "This computer was unable to join the Wi-Fi Network you selected. You may have entered an incorrect password or network name, chosen the wrong type of wireless security, or you may be out of range of the base station." Though the wifi modem is just right outside my room. When i click "network setup assistant" and click on my wifi, it always say "invalid password" and i know i type in the right password. The house i was previously staying in, the wifi works totally fine. Can anyone help me? Is there something wrong with my mac or is it the wifi? Though, i doubt its the wifi because all the other laptops in the house is working perfectly fine. Its just my mac that is having problems (btw, im the only one using mac in the house).

Wifi problems seem to crop up a lot on here and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 'one fix' solution.
However, sometimes any one of the following may help although, unfortunately, not always. - in no particular order:
Check wifi security - if it's WEP change it to WPA or WPA2 (preferably, as it's more secure)
Change the wifi channel on the router
Create a new Network Location: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5289
    Reboot the router
Also take a look at this link and the links within the article for other ideas. They mainly reference Lion, but still seem to be relevant to Mountain Lion:

  • Macbook 2007 and not 802.11n WIFI?

Hi, today I decided to enable just 802.11N mode on my aiport EXTREME (2007 model), I know that my iPhone couldn't access to my WIFI (I had to have another router coused by my local internet operator).
So I had two networks, one on 5GHz and second on 2,4 g mode. I could access first on through my MB Pro Unibody, but sisters Macbook couldn't find it?
So I opened system information and found, that Macbook supports draft N, just not the channel 149 (the highest was 140) and I couldn't change it on my airport EXTREME.
Has somebody tips for this issue?

Thank you for your answer, both macs are EUROPEAN!!!
I know about 140 is the highest european channel, but my UNIBODY accepts all ports (due to travel) with exclusice laptop (Apple) I guess you should could use WIFI on all continents
And about the Airport EXTREME, I could change channel only if I'm in compatibility mode, if I'm in just 802.11N mode (2,4 or 5 GHz) I cannot deselect automatic!! I Guess it is a bug in my firmware? 7.4.2 (latest for my gigabit model).

Hi i cant access to my house wifi but to all the others wifiS I can connect. I have restarted my iPhone and my home wifi. What should I do?

What make, model, and version WiFi router do you have?
Is the router firmware up to date?
What type of security is it running? WEP, WPA, WPA2 (WPA2 is recommended, WEP is completely insecure)
Do you have MAC address filtering turned ON? If so, have you added your iPhone MAC address to the permitted list in your router?

  • I want to use my ipad as a midi controller on my MacBook pro via USB no with wiFi connection, is this possible ?

hi guys, i am new to garageband.
i have the Ipad 4th generation and just installed garageband on my mackbook pro, i see that i can use my ipad as a midi controller via WiFi but there is a delay, my question is: Can i use my ipad as a midi controller via the USB connection, that will eliminate de lag or delay.
    thanks

Keynote Remote, but you will need wifi. You can set up an ad-hoc wifi network from your Macbook itself ("Create Network" from the Wifi menu), which the iPad can connect to.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
