MacBook covered in water! Will it survive?
I don’t usually use online discussion boards to answer my questions but i need a lil quick smart advise/reassurance...
this morning when i was getting ready for the day something terrible happened. I was tidying my room when i placed my laundry bag beside my bedside table. as i turned my back to the scene, the laundry bag tilted over, ensuing a domino effect to cause a small cup of tap water to quietly tip over onto the rest of my bedside table. there sat my brand new macbook sitting, sleeping plugged in. I turned to see my table covered with water on top of the lid and surrounding the base of my new macbook. I picked it up and dried it thoroughly with paper towel for about 50 seconds when I decided to try and turn the machine on. That did not work so I pulled out the power cord, which i then momentarily inspected for possible water damage. i did not think that amount of water could kill a computer that quickly. I held the machine upside down for about 70 seconds while drips of water came out. after realizing it was damaged I immediately put a pair of slippers on and ran across the street to my on campus computer help desk. there they instantly dissembled the machine and dried off the insides. the tech guy showed me the exposed drive of the base of the macbook and pointed out a small area (the size of a dime) where it was clear water had touched. they told me to let them try and repair it. crippled with shock and on the brink of an emotional meltdown in the middle of my university library, i didn’t ask any questions, i just ran back to my dorm room where i picked up my friends laptop and googled for about an hour horror stories of beer, wine, water, etc. spilling on someone's macbook. my question is.....based on what i explained happened, do you think my new born macbook will survive?!?!?!?1?!?!????
According to what I can derive from your saga, your MacBook has already expired. Water inside an electronic device can cause a short and subsequent damage instantly. If you have any reason to suspect that you have water inside of any electronic device, turning it on then and there is the absolute wrong thing to do. You always want to try to dry out the insides, taking it to a service center in most cases, before you turn on the power.
Anyway, if the system still won't work after the tech has dried it out, then it's damaged and you'll have to pay for repairs. Sorry.

You should take your Mac to an Apple Store. It's dangerous because the water can affect to its battery or damage the whole MacBook -
I am trying to use the "App Store" on my Macbook Pro but it will not allow me to open the program. It automatically says, "App Store has closed unexpectedly." Whenever I tell it to reopen, the exact same messege pops up. My computer has all of the latest updates from Apple.
I tried deleting the program then running the software update to try to get the program again but it did not work. Where can I manual download the actual app store program, or fix the one that I have.

My MacBook Air 13' (2013) will occasionally start the fan at full blast, not connect to any wifi or detect any wifi, and will remove the battery icon from my menu bad as well as tell me there is no battery connected. How do I fix this? I have restarted my computer multiple times, **** it down, and ran a diagnostic test to tell me nothing is wrong and my computer is not running any applications. There is no reason for the fan to be on full blast! when I try to set the option to show my battery icon in the menu bar, it will automatically uncheck. How do I fix all of this?

I just purchased a MacBookPro after having a MacBook. I have ILife, IWorks and Office for Mac. How do I get those programs on to my MacBook Pro? I will still use my MacBook at work so I need those programs to remain on it as well.
You need a Firewire cable to run between the two Macs. Using Utility>Migration Assistant running on your new MacBook Pro, transfer what you want (with all the preferences and such) from your MacBook to your MBP. Here's more info from Apple.
You might have an issue with the Serial number for Office, but hopefully you have that around.

after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.
First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on. -

Work with and store the documents on DropBox or something similar. It's free for DropBox. All you need after that is access to the internet and regardless of where you are and what you're using you have access to your documents.

MacBook Pro 4, 1 will no longer turn on
My MacBook Pro 4, 1 will no longer power up. It was working great when I shut it down but acts like it has no power now. I have tried the instructions for resetting the SMC with no luck. Any other ideas on what to do or the possible cause are appreciated!
ThanksI wanted to add that when I press the power button the power indicator light on the lid release will come on momentarily but then off real quick. About 4-5 seconds later the light again will flash on and off. After that, nothing. Maybe that means something?

CDs I burn from my itunes 10 on my macbook with snow lepard will not play in the regular cd player. How do I burn Cds that will pay in a reg old cd player?
When the computer was new, I had the same issue I have now. It was new and I could not burn to play on a reg cd player. Today, I can not burn to play on a reg cd player. Inbetween, I could not burn to play on a reg cd player. I keep giving up and then trying months later.
I have recently made the cds that play on the computer. I have also tried in the last month to make a dvd copy, it played. I have gone to people's homes and tried the cd's burned in my computer. They are not recognized. This last round I have only used the cd-r but have tried many others in the past. I am running out of money to keep buying different brands, kinds, etc. I figured it must be my lac of knowledge and am trying to get some new here.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my warranty just ran out! I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions, one with Snow Leopard and the other with microsoft.This morning I turned on my Macbook Pro and it will not boot into Snow Leopard. I shut it off took out the battery, reinstalled the battery. Then I put in the Snow Leopard CD and booted up to disk utility and The Snow Leopard partion would not show up?? I do see the microsoft partion.
I also rebooted holding down the shift key and still no Snow Leopard
Could you please tell me what I can do, what keys do I press on restart any advice to get Snow leopard back.
thank you.Have you restarted holding down the Opt key? That procedure should give you a gray screen with all of the partitions that exist. Then select the SL partition for boot. Also go to System Preferences and Startup Disk, unlock the lock and select the SL partition as the default boot partition, then relock.

Also the screen is so faint (pressing the F1 and F2 keys don't do anything). I got this from a friend and he didn't have any of the original discs. Any suggestions? From what I've read it's a problem with a recent update. I've never had a Mac so I'm trying to learn and fix it.
I just had an issue like this. I was able to boot up with an external firewire drive, although it was a lot of trouble. I think doing an option boot finally worked; holding down the option key, I eventually got to see the firewire drive was bootable, and booted from it.
I put the thing in verbose boot mode (command - v , I think; but please look it up. I have no Mac books at work to check). In verbose mode, you could see that the hard drive could not mount; the OS tried to do fsck, but it failed around 2/3 of the way, and the CPU was halted.
I was occasionally able to boot normally, but never in safe or single user modes; these do a disk test first, which invariably failed.
I could see from the system and console logs when I managed to get the firewire boot going that there were repeated errors trying to access drive s03, the internal SATA drive. The logs on the SATA drive showed huges numbers of errors. At a wild guess, for some reason a lot of sectors went bad all at once. There had been a some erratic behavior before, but I'd put that down to the single processor G5 problems. (these were non video related, just freezes).
Applecare wanted me to carry the huge thing into the local Apple store, but I persuaded them to just send me a replacment hard drive, which they did. The new one works perfectly.

I need to upgrade my first generation Macbook Air 1,1 to Lion OS x10. I need to install other software that requires 10.7 also a java update that requires 10.7. I am currently on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and my macbook Air 1.1 will not go up to Mountain Lion. The Lion software update 10.7 is no longer available from the store or downloads.
Where do I get this?

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up. Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests. But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum. there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc. -
My 13 inch Macbook pro w retina will not install/download OS X Mavericks because it says I do not have the requirements in order to install it. I purchased my Mac this past month on 11/20/13 so i do not have a problem with it being an older version. Please help. This is my first computer so i dont have any experience on how to fix this.
You can't install the App Store version of Mavericks because your model needs a special version. If you ever need to reinstall it, boot into Recovery.
