Macbook crashing completely...help!
So this is a video of what recently happened to my Macbook C2D 2,1:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wel2JQ9UozU&feature=youtu.be
I think I tried to click on something while the macbook was still ´waking up´ out of sleep (takes very long sometimes) or it was somehow overload. I wasn´t able to do anything anymore except to switch it off. Then, when I switch the Macbook on, it starts to make a clicking sound, I think it is from the cd drive. The screen is blank, than at some point the clicking sound stops and I get to see a blinking map/folder with a question mark in the middle. I can´t do anything again except to, guess what, switch the Macbook off. Putting it on electricity does not make a difference.
It has happened to me before but after leaving the macbook off for a few days, it miraculously revived and did what it is supposed to.
Does anyone know how I can bring my Macbook back to life? Or why it is in coma in the first place?
Sorry to hear this. I think the clicking sound you hear was the hard drive. When the drive is having trouble reading, the arm on the drive goes back and forth very quickly making the clicking sound.Do you have your drive backed up? You may be experiencing hard drive failure. The folder with the blinking question mark means no start up disk found. I don't know what operating system you have. If it's 10.6 or earlier and you have the disk, you can insert it and hold down the c and boot to it. Then use disk utilities off the install disk to check you drive. If you have a later operating system , you can try booting and holding down the option or option r keys when starting up. If it's there you should see the option for a recovery drive to boot to. You can use disk utilities from this to check your drive. Zapping the pram may or may not help. Command/option/p/r while holding down the start button for three chimes. Or SMC reset, remove power and battery and hold down power button for 10 seconds, then replace battery and power supply and reboot. If you can get back into you system, I suggest backing up your files if you have not done so already.

Mountain lion = crashes on macbook 2009 - any help?
after installing mountain lion i'm experincing crashes with my macbook 2009 - any help?
Checked the startup disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Be aware, OS X Recovery requires a high speed broadband connection.
Backup all your important files before repairing or restoring OS X just in case. -
My macbook crashed about two weeks ago and I had icloud already set up. How do I go about retrieving the music and images? Please, help me. I had over 10gb of music on that computer and the only place it was backup was icloud. Thanks.
I hate to say this, but unless you are paying the 25 bucks you cannot back up your library to the cloud.
All you can do is back up the items you "purchased" from Apple.
iTunes Match
For $24.99/year you’ll get access to all your iTunesmusic including tunes you ripped from CDs or “borrowed” from anonymous friends. It scans your library to see if the song exists in iTunes’ 18 million song catalog and if it does it’ll stream it to you at 256 kbps. If your song is not in iTunes then it’ll be uploaded to iCloud at whatever rate it is on your device where it can be streamed for your listening pleasure. I cannot find any information on how to restore a library, however
Best of luck -

My Macbook crashed and I can't figure out....
I had iWeb and a whole website all done. Domain name and all... just a perfect personal site.
My Macbook crashed.
I got a new hard drive installed and am going thru re-installing and re-setting things to my liking... and when I open iWeb and put in my .Mac id and password, it asks me to "create a new site?!"... how do I access the old one? It's still all there... when I type in my domain name to a browser, I see my site and all that was in it... and when I check the .Mac site, it's all there.
How do I get to it from the laptop - the re-freshed one?You can't open your site in iWeb unless you have a backup copy of the domain file.
You can get some help here....
http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
If its any consolation, I had two crashes before I invested in 2 external firewire drives which have a complete bootable backup of everything on my Mac plus a third drive with Time Machine. -
Vista Premium Home Edition 32-bit on newest Macbook Issues PLEASE help!
Please someone help me with my problem, I'm begging! I've asked around a bunch of places and everyone comes back to me with "well it's a mac.. use it as a mac why do you have vista on it" and never seem to help me. I love my mac, but I also use Vista for many other programs.
Okay here's some backstory...
I recently had to buy a new macbook because my old white macbook came back to me unrepairable! So I had bought the newest model of the macbook, the aluminum 13-inch. Now on my old white one I had installed vista no problems at all, no issues. It ran beautifully! Now I thought I'd have no issues doing the same on the new macbook. Boy was I wrong! I portioned my disc - installed vista, installed the bootcamp drivers and started vista.
It was fine for a while but then I started getting sound cut outs and screaching noises! When I am gaming the sound cuts out completely but not before the game freezes. Then I started having issues watching videos and listening to audio on firefox. Then it'd crash completely! Now it's started shutting off completely giving me a blue screen for a couple seconds telling me there may be a conflict or driver issue. It doesnt stay on long enough for me to read but I ended up checking windows problems and solutions and found this:
"This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 and this version of Windows.
Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 was created by Intel Corporation and is distributed by Apple Inc.."
Also driver not found? - "Windows detected a new device attached to your computer, but could not find the driver software it needs to make the device usable. Each device manufacturer typically includes driver software of a CD that comes with the device, or as a download from its website. The hardware ID of your device is ACPI\APP0001."
I don't know how to fix it. I've been trying everything - reading forums, trying to update drivers, reinstalling bootcamp drivers, and vista repair... I just have no idea what to do! Please help me!!! Please please! If you need more information ask for my email so I can talk to you more in-depth so I don't go insane trying to figure this out! What do you want someone to say or do.
The story slides into information about Intel chipsets and crashing. That to me says take it into Apple and have AppleCare do something.
There is no reason to deal with an issue. A Mac is a personal computer. There is nothing that says it can't run Linux or Vista or has to run Leopard (though it isn't supported on older versions of OS X).
I've used Vista for over two years now, from RC1 pre-release to the latest SP2 beta.
Is your version of Vista SP1 or the older original?
I've found lately that I need to install some software even before Vista starts doing all the updates. Apple Boot Camp but also AV software etc. HOWEVER, given some of the reports, I sometimes wonder if the Apple Windows drivers are current and were tested on late 2008 to work with Vista and XP SP3.
I would think Vista SP1+ would be best bet. I'd even install Vista and then see when Windows 7 beta is officially available to the public, it runs better on laptops than Vista or XP. Better battery life, support for mobile and wireless devices etc.
You could play around and I've downloaded drivers or looked for drivers on Intel, something you would do on any PC running Vista. Maybe these links and discussions or Intel's. And find people and places that support you rather than "lecture." I don't know, haven't read up, on the device, or use a MacBook, but maybe these will help you.
"Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC"
From Intel: "Intel 82801GBM"
A number of reviews have come out looking at "who makes the best Vista capable laptop" and MacBook Pro and Air have both gotten high marks from reviewers like ComputerWorld. -
since I did an upgrade yesterday (sept 20th 12) my macbook crashed and does an autoantic restart when doing a upgrade. It occurs doing so for iPhoto, MSoffice or Aperture.
Can someone help me on this issue? My late 2009 13" Macbook is now very laggy. For example, the cursor won't respond until many seconds after I place a finger on the touchpad. When I use the keyboard to increase or decrease volume or screen brightness, there is a noticeable lag between my inputs and what I see. Every time I pause between typing words, I find the keyboard won't respond until I wait a few more seconds. This is very disappointing. I need to roll back until Apple are able to look into any potential issues. I didn't have any such problems prior to upgrade.

Problem: My Macbook crashes and reboots when I watch You Tube or other video content or when I do video chat sessions (e.g., Google Hangouts). It doesn't crash every single time I watch a video or do a chat, but it does crash often and unpredictably. Sometimes it'll crash directly after I have rebooted. When it crashes, the screen suddenly goes black, and the laptop restarts itself. It happens on both Chrome and Safari browsers.
Background:
I've had the laptop 7 years, but the problem started only recently. My hard drive was failing, so I had to install a new one. The hard drive upgrade required me to install Snow Leopard from the CD onto the new drive, restore my data from my Time Machine external disk, and use System Update to install all patches. I did all of this, and the laptop is generally running well, except for video content. I also deleted and reinstalled the Chrome and Adobe Flash applications, but that has not helped.
System Software:
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.8.0
Hardware:
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Any suggestions for fixing or diagnosing this issue? Should I take it into an Apple store for them to look at?
Thanks,
RickPlease make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

My macbook crashed, and i want to sync my phone with my new macbook
My Macbook crashed, and with it I lost my entire music library; at least the part that wasn't synced to my iPhone 4S. I purchased a new macbook and would love to transfer the songs FROM my iphone TO my macbook, but I keep getting this message - which I am fearful will erase the precious few songs I did save on the iPhone:
Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
Can somebody please advise? Thank you.Hi evanlovett,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you no longer have the computer that had your iTunes Library stored on it and you want to move what music you still have on your iPhone to your new computer. If the music was purchased from iTunes you can get this music back to your iTunes Library two different ways. You can either transfer purchases from the iPhone to the iTunes Library, or you can just download the music again from the Purchased section of iTunes. I will post the information on both ways to recover your purchased music below. If the music on your iPhone came from a CD or another source (not purchased from iTunes) there would be no way to transfer it to your iTunes Library.

Hllo, my MacBook crashes during booting the startup phase. I've tried different solutions that i read about on various forums, such as using the disc utility services, but none of Them helps. my Mac hd is inaktive and cannot repair it, the reinstalling of the os x maverick wont start and so on. Though i tried to use an installation dvd with an older version of os x and it wouldn't start indtaling, but when i opened the DU there it could activate my hd an i could see the files on the disc in the disc image, but when i tried to restart the computer from the active hd it would crash again. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks in advance
She could have a bad hard drive. There have been certain model drives in MacBooks failing recently.

Macbook crashes when Onkyo TX-NR509 is turned on
Hi!
My Macbook crashes everytime I switch on my Onkyo receiver which is connected through a mini displayport to hdmi cable. This issue started after upgrading to Mavericks. I already tried to restart the computer into safe mode and reset some cashes (I read about this in another thread) but had no luck with that.
For audio signals I use a mini toslink cable which do not affect the computer so it seems the receiver sends a signal to the computer which causes the crash.
I also attached the crash report. It would be really great if someone could help!
Many thanks in advance!

Thunderbolt Bus:Thanks, but it did not work out. However, I figured out that the Mac only crashes when the TV is also on at the same time. The TV is connected via a HDMI cable with the Onkyo receiver. If I only switch on the receiver (having the TV off) the computer logs out but do not crash.
Does this make any sense?
Thanks!
