Macbook curser not operating as it should.

my macbook (white, early 2008) will not allow the curser to click on anything in the menu bar, folder, etc. cannot select anything with it. i can utilize some commmands, but limited on what i can do with that. i attached a mouse and it worked.i can shut down and boot back up and see all the folders, apps, harddrive, etc is this more than likely the battery, it has never been replace and it is two years old this month?

it seems to operate when you attach a mouse. if i need to replace the entire topcase, i'd be better off getting a new laptop probably. to replace a laptop after only two years is not very appeasing to me! i'll try a couple other things before i give up, i'll follow up tomorrow. thanks for you're help so far. if any other ideas pop up, continue to reply please. thanks again...

  • My macbook is not turning on. what should I do?

The light indicator for the battery shows, full power, and when I plug in the cord, it turns orange. But it still won't turn on. all i get is a black screen. no noise. nothing but a black screen with a battery telling me it is ready. I have a macbook, aluminum, 13" (late 2008 model)

Take your MacBook Pro (not macbook) to an Apple store or AASP.

  • HT4889 My new iMac says that my old Macbook is not updated to the latest Yosemite software so it won't let me migrate files. But I have checked my Macbook and it says that it is updated. What should I do?

I am trying to migrate files from an old Macbook--which is already updated with the latest Yosemite software--to a new iMac that also has the latest Yosemite software. But I keep getting an error message that says that my old Macbook is not updated. What should I do?

If the 2 computers have the correct cable connections, try the Target Disk Mode.

    Josejanko,
You don't supply much info other than your machine is old, so here is some info for you to check thru.
Before doing anything you should have a back up, preferably 2, in the event something goes wrong.
You would have to start by upgrading to Snow Leopard, you would need to buy the disk for about $20 here  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Check the the requirements to see if your machine meets them.
You would then need to run the 10.6.8 v1.1 combo update to get it to 10.6.8 Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
You can then access the APP STORE and possibly upgrade to to further OSX.
You may have applications that will not be compatible with any thing past Snow Leopard, you can check those here Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!
    http://roaringapps.com/apps
Office 2008 will not work with anything newer than Snow Leopard for an wxample
You may be able to upgrade to Lion or MT Lion or Yosemite, depending on your machine, from the APP STORE.
OS X Lion - Technical Specifications Lion
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion Mountain Lion

    Hope this helps you

I have a macbook pro 15" 2007 version 10.6.8 and try to up date to mavericks and it's not allowing too. what should i do?

What does it tell you. If it says it isn't compatible, then you don't have a mid/late 2007 MBP. You might have an early 2007 MBP, which cannot run Mountain Lion or Mavericks.
You can check here to see exactly which MBP you have: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4132
If you hold down the Option key and select System Profiler from the Apple Menu, it will display the model identifier under the Hardware Section.
It must be a macbookpro3,1 or later.

I spill all my coffee on my new MacBook Air, its not working anymore, what should i do ? I have to buy a new one coz its pricy to fix it.

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.

My ipad has a software problem and does not work, request that it is loaded the software and there is no way that the operating system loads, is not restored. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple. Depending on how many user helpers are on-line, it may take several hours, or longer, to get a response.
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
    Frozen or unresponsive iPad

  • I have OSX 10.7.5, my idvd is not working correctly.  Should I re-download this version again , do you think that it will help to improve the idvd operation?

I have OSX 10.7.5 on my imac, my idvd is not working correctly.  Should I re-download this version again , do you think that it will help to improve the idvd operation?

First, iDVD is not and never has been part of OS X. If iDVD is not working correctly, then you should investigate possible problems with that application, support files, preferences, or cache.
Of course you can always reinstall OS X if you wish:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I do not know what I should phone is locked after changing the operating system

I do not know what I should phone is locked after changing the operating system , have the original box , receipt lost, Apple said that it is necessary to support the receipt of the first as I can not find the receipt of the first purchase when I moved to another country . I now throw my iPhone ?

It depends what you mean by 'locked' - it can mean locked by a passcode or linked only to one particular carrier (service provider). If the latter, see the post above; if it's a passcode issue:
    1. Assuming this was bought new and you have set up Activation Lock and forgotten the passcode, please see this page:
    http://www.lifehacker.co.uk/2011/10/24/youve-forgotten-iphones-passcode
    2. If you bought it second-hand (used) - though this is not the impression I get from you post - then only the previous owner can unlock it.

You won't lose any data unless you erase your hard drive.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c"key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it.When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've selected the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.

im trying to update my software from 10.4.11 but its not letting me. what should i do?

You are at the max version of Tiger OS 10.4.11. There are no additional updates.
If you want to go to a higher version of Mac OS X, that's an upgrade, that requires a purchase.
