Macbook display changed after using on smartboard

After plugging my Macbook into the Smartboard at school to do a presentation, my display is distorted. Everything is much larger then before and the screen is too wide to see the entire view. How can I get back to my default settings?

Hi Krisminand, and a warm welcome to the forums!

  • My macbook slows down after using external HDD

When I use an external drive via usb, my computer really slows down giving me no choice except reboot.
I watched memory usage with activity monitor. Free memory decreases  by time and inactive memory increases with the same amount and others  don't change much. If I continue using -esp. reading-, free memory comes  below to 100MB and then increases a bit -I think it starts paging  =other applications' memories= to system disk-, then continues to  decrease. Closing the application -that use the external- do not relese  memory from inactive to free but ejecting the external does. After  unplugging and trying to use the other applications, I face very  sluggish performance so that rebooting becomes a better-fast choice.  Both NTFS and FAT partitions produce the same result and I don't have  any other partition.
If I try to re-read the same file after the external drive stops  spinning (sleeps), it does not start spinning but trying to read another  file makes it start spining. This makes me think about some -overdone-  caching problem, but don't know what causes it and how to turn it off  (Tuxero's caching is already disabled in the preferences, although I  think it is only for writing only).
I made some research and found nothing specific; they tell to  reinstall the os or format the drive -to HFS+ -. What is causing this?
Note: All of my drives are in Spotlight's exclusion (privacy) list and using another usb slot did not change a thing.

  • My Macbook display changes color when I open applications. It looks like there is a light blue layer over the screen, thus changing the color of my display. This layer goes away when i quit the applications.

I am facing a problem and I am not sure if its a graphic card malfunction. When I open applications like Chrome, VLC player, and most apps, my display suddenly changes color. It is as though the Theme was changed. The normal grey panel on opened windows turns to light blue and everything else seem as though there is a light blue layer on top of it. When I close these applications (quit) the display returns to its normal self.
My MacBook Pro is 2 years old, and I have an extended warranty. Will Apple replace my graphic card if it is actuall the graphic card's problem?

I had that problem, too, and it's been documented both here and on the Adobe forums. What happens is that when you have dynamic switching on, when an application that uses your discrete GPU kicks in, the screen will change color. My problem lasted for a couple of weeks then just vanished.
What you need to do is download Cody Krieger's gfxCardStatus and turn off dynamic switching and leave your GPU set to discrete only. That's the only fix that I know of at this time. I don't know why it happens or why mine stopped.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

I could find where to restore tp the former format.
    Please advise1

If this is your only problem with the new KDE-PIM stuff you're lucky But have you tried changing the format under settings -> "Regional & Language"?

  • Display noise after using VGA projector

I taught two terms at the university using my MB Air 2012 with a VGA projector. Each time I connected the Mac to the projector and took it off, there was random noise on the display. I considered it as normal. Now the lessons are over and I don't use the projector any more. However, every time I turn on the Mac and when I shut it down, I see the same noise on the display. Otherwise, there are no problems.
Is there a way to get rid of that noise?

  • Footnote formatting changed after using Pages on iPad

    Hi all,
I recently created a new document using Pages '09 on my iMac.  I then uploaded the document to iCloud so that I could work on it on my iPad.  I opened the document on the iPad, addded and changed some text and inserted some new footnotes.  When I went back to my iMac and downloaded the updated document and began working on it, I noticed that whenever I insert a new footnote the font size for the new footnotes is now 12, where before it had be 10.  Everything else seems to have stayed the same.  The font, type (regular, bold, etc.), just the size is now different.
Is there a setting in pages that I can go into and reset the default font size for footnotes to 10?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Peter,
I just tried that and it seemed to partly work.
I tried creating a new footnote.  I then selected the text in the footnote, including the number, but there was no style name highlighted.
I then tried clicking on Footnote Text and it reformatted that note to the correct size (10 pt).
I then clicked on the little triangle and Redefine Style from selection and it changed most ot the footnotes in the document to what looks like superscript.  I say most, because as I page through there are some that did not change.  I think the ones that didn't change were footnotes that were already in the document before editing it on pages on the iPad.
So I undid everything and tried something else.  This time I only selected the text in the footnote, not the number.  There was still no style name highlighted.  I clicked on Footnote Text and it reformatted that note to the correct size (10 pt) again.  I then clicked the red triangle but Redefine Style was greyed out.
This is really behaving is a bizarre way from what I can see.  I'm not sure why only some footnotes would change and not others and why I can't just define a footnote style that used to be the default.

  • MacBook Pro slow after using graphics programs

    I'm an architecture student and I have a MacBook Pro 15 ', bought in January 2009 (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz / 4 GB Ram / 320 GB HD / NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 Mb - NVIDIA GeForce 6600M GT 512MB) with Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.7).
While studying architecture I find myself often using graphics programs, with jobs that require lots of computing power, this is the second time I have the same problem:
    - Use Photoshop CS5 with a large file (around a 1 GB), the computer is not connected with the power, thus using the battery.
The next day I turn on the computer, is considerably slower, noting that the Dock is not fluid, the application menu is jerky, and when moving from one Space to another is no more fluidity.
If I start to use some programs, or even just listening to music with iTunes and surf the Web, is very slow.
I've already done this, so almost the same a few months ago, I tried resetting PRAM and NVRAM, disk repair, repair disk permissions, delete cache system,
I checked the processes in Activity Monitor, closing the most expensive and controlling those that run on Login, I disabled Spotlight, almost complete depletion of HD, removal of most of the programs and any other what is usually recommended in these cases. But nothing worked, until I used the startup disk by deleting everything.
A months later I have the same problem, and I have tried everything I already tried, but the formatting.
In addition to solving the problem, now I would also understand why every time I use my MacBook Pro from € 2000, bought specifically for work with these types of programs and files, I have this type of problems.
Thank you in advance for your interest and hope to receive your early clarification on the matter.

  • IN PSE6, layer changes after use of a tool

Hello. (I am still in PSE 6 and hope this is the right place. Could not find a forum specific to 6).
I have a document with several layers.
I am using a tool, say for instance the Clone Stamp tool.
I finish, then go to do something else on that same layer.
But as soon as I begin I realize I am no longer working on the same layer.
For whatever reason, a different layer has been selected.
I find that I often have to re-select the layer that I want.
This has been annoying me for a long time because I cannot find a way to make it different.
    Any help, please. Thanks

Nope. I tried unchecking the auto select layer option and that made it way too difficult to work since every time I wanted to do something on one of the layers I had to select it from the palette. In other words, with a layer selected, every tool I choose to use via keyboard (e=eraser; s=stamp, etc.), only works on that layer. I can't get back to the Move Tool using the V key. Instead, I have to use my mouse to go to the layers palette. Far too tedious.
    But thanks for the suggestion.

  • Trigger/tooltip relationships change after preview

At first I thought it was me, but the tip brought up by the trigger keeps changing after using preview. I've saved first and it made no difference. What I do think is true is it only happens once. In other words, it doesn't seem to keep changing or randomly change.
    I hope.

Please give us more information about the issue. Also, it would be helpful if you can share some screen shots..

  • MacBook Pro screen does not turn on after using external display?

    Hello,
I am using a 15 inch MacBook pro from mid 2012. At work I connect it via mini-display port to an eternal monitor. Recently however, sometimes after I go home and try to turn the laptop back on, it turns on, but the screen does not. If I connect it to another external monitor, it uses that as the default display. Sometimes I can just restart the laptop and everything is fine, other times I have to turn it back on while holding the shift key in order for the laptops built in display to be used.
After work, I unplug the mini-display port, and then power off the laptop.
Can anyone help me understand why this may be happening so I can prevent it from happening again?
    Thank you.
