Macbook Display Has No Backlight - PLEASE HELP - URGENT!

Ok, so I have a Macbook. Puchased in August '06. Display birghtness/backlight has completely gone. Display is still working, as I can see it up close, but there is no backlight/brightness to the screen. I'm thinking the inverter cable is broken, but how can I be sure? Could it be the actualy backlight? or the inverter board? I am extremely confised, but need this fixed asap.
No problems waking from sleep, as yet.

Be sure to do a P-RAM reset and SMC (power management) chip reset. See the macbook support web page for instructions.
Here's an idea:
Get a mini-DVI to VGA adapter cable, which is about $20 (US). I'll bet if you ask some friends, somebody will have a free CRT-type monitor for you. A CRT monitor is big and boxy and not hip like an LCD screen, but you can still do your homework on it. The down side is you no longer have a portable mac.
I did a Google search, and a LP133WX1-TLA1 display is about $180. I found a replacement inverter board on eBay for $22. There is a chance the main logic board has a problem and won't drive the inverter. I think the best thing to do would be to puchase an applecare contact and get the macbook repaired.
If you insist on the do-it-yourself route: Be sure to try the P-RAM and SMC reset first. If you shine a bright light on the display,you should be able to see a faint image even if the backlight and/or inverter isn't working. The easiest thing to try first is to replace the inverter. Have somebody who knows how to work with high voltage check to see if the inverter is working. The inverter puts out hundreds of volts, so don't attempt to check it yourself unless you have training. If the inverter doesn't generate output, you can replace the inverter for $22. If the inverter is OK, the fluorescent tube in the LCD panel might be blown. Some Internet sources will replace LCD panel fluorescent tubes, but I've never tried them. You could try replacing the LCD panel, but you'd prabably be better off at that point buying Applecare and sending them your ailing machine. Applecare is about $350, but the LCD is $180, and perhaps not a guaranteed fix. It is also a fair amont of work to change the display. Basically your screen looks like an old-fashioned TV test card with blocks all over it? That happened to my imac G5 when I had only had it a short while back in 2005. I had just switched to mac and was devastated. When I rang Apple they said it was the logic board which is the most expensive part to replace apparently. I had it fixed under Applecare. I would find out if you can get it fixed under the Apple program as now it is a known fault with these models.Here is a link to the page Apple have set up about the extended repair program, it does look like your model could be one of the affected ones:

Select Force Quit from under the Apple menu and select Mail (it may say that it isn't responding).

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

We want to refresh report at runtime for the Drill Down report if any user changes the Data. We changes the data from the form which is called from the report and we want to this effect on the report on the prompt.
Is there any method to close the report while it is in the queue of Background Engine? Can we refresh the report ? Please help urgently.

Reports goes out to the database and fetches the data (not a snapshot) and returns the information, formats it and displays it. The only way to refresh, is to rerun the report.
If your are running from the server, you need to make sure you are not fetching from cache (you determine this from destype and set the life of the cache in the servername.ora file).
I am unaware of any way to programatically close the report once displayed. The user must take action to close the report (unless you call the operating system to kill the display). When you rerun the report from Oracle Forms, you will get fresh data.

Thanks lllaass, but I am not computer literate and do not understand exactly what it is I am supposed to do. All of my photos were stored on Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery. When I now access the gallery the only thing that is there are the folders with the title of the folders. The pictures that were in those folders are now gone. I can no longer access them on my IPOD either. My photo library on my IPOD is now empty.

I restored my itunes and now it wont sync back. it says a unknown error has occured (14) please help!!!!

My ipod was acting up, it wouldnt sync any new songs purchased after i updated my itunes. So i thought okay i will restore it, and sync everything back, so i restored it and now it tries until a message saying 'The ipod 'IPOD' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (14)'
I have tried to sync the same library onto an older ipod and the same thing has occurred.
