Macbook Display problem, why is screen completely white?

Okay, so here is my problem. I purchased a brand new i7 2620M Logic Board, that works!!!
Well atleast it did at one point. I turned it on, no problem.. I then decided to add in the new RAM that i bought (TWO 4x2) 8GB
Turned on, everything was fine.. I then wanted to add the 1 TB Samsung HD..new also..
When I placed it in, turned on the MBP i was hit with the white screen w/ the question mark..
Forgot to add the OS to the HD.. anyways.. i put back the old one, but then i accidently unplugged it while the MBP was on.
Quickly put it back in.. it froze for a lil, then turned off. I turned it back on & now there is nothing but a white screen.
I can hear everything boot up, chime, & I am even able to hear when it gets to the main log in screen..
so MBP still works internally.. My problem is that all i can see is a white screen..
Also there is a slight burn mark on the logic board where the display plugs in. But i assumed that the burn mark wasn't a big deal since the screen still lights up & turns on. I'm just not able to see what is going on.
PLEASE HELP. I spent almost 800 dollars on upgrades..hate to see it go to waste.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Macbook Pro boot shows black screen with white text cursor

    Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro 7,1 MC374xx/A running Mavericks.  My box has two internal hard drives in it.  One had the Mac OS installed to it, and the other has absolutely nothing on it.  I decided to give Boot Camp Assistant a try and chose the hard drive with nothing on it to install Windows on.  I also had an external USB DVD drive attached with the Windows 7 installation disc on it.
So, next thing ya know, my Mac reboots and loads a black screen that says "Memory Overload." I take out the external USB drive and restart.  Then it said, "No boot devices found."  Now for whatever reason, it's just a black screen with a white text cursor.
    What the heck happened?
I selected command R and confirmed that I installed Boot Camp on the right hard drive (the drive that did not contain my Mac OS).  Then, I completely erased everything from the drive with Boot Camp on it.  But still..black screen with white text cursor.
I have no Time Machine backups available so I'm forced to reinstall the OS.  Any idea why this happened?  It seems I must have attempted to install Boot Camp improperly.  Any ideas or instructions on what to do now or how to install Boot Camp successfully on the Macbook Pro I own?
    Earnestly,
    Speck

Boot Camp- Windows installation boots to black screen with blinking cursor.

  • Help : Safari displays every single website page completely white !

    Hello everyone,
So I have this problem on my mid-2012 Macbook Air, whenever I try to use Safari, my favorite internet browser, it displays every single website completely white ... I don't know what to do, my internet connection is fine and all my other browsers are working perfectly. Anyone has any idea how to fix this ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Leo

    Hi ...
MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
Your profile indicates your Mac has v10.8.2 installed. If that is the case, then updating your system software help Safari.
Click Software Update from your Apple  drop down menu. Restart your Mac after updates are installed then try Safari.
If your Mac software is up to date, v10.8.5., try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, try this DNS server.
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
    Click + and type:
    208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
*** Apps such as Little Snitch, anti virus software, MacKeeper, and CleanMyMac can prevent Safari pages from loading.

  • Why does screen go white and unresponsive?

iPod touch screen goes white and unresponsive whilst playing games. Done it twice now and have to leave for a few hours until it clears?

You will probably never find out "why"
    - To prevent try the following:
-- A reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    -- Restore to from backup
-- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still a problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • New Macbook Pro 15-inch Retina screen flashes white intermittently

I have a new Macbook Pro 15-inch Retina with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.
    Running OS X version 10.9.5.
Problem: the screen intermittently flashes to white very briefly (for a fraction of a second). This happens once or twice a day. I haven't yet found a way to reproduce the flashing. It happens both on the highest resolution and on the "Best" resolution.
Is there a way to fix this or should I return the MBP?

  • Macbook display problem

I have MacBook (white) from early 2011. Few days ago the display started to show streaks of colors that are quite unnatural. When tried to use the color correction from the display menu it makes it even worse. There is a bluish and pinkish tinge to the display.
Did anybody experiece this problem before. I have bought it about 1 1/2 years ago as a new laptop from a local university store. Thanks.

It is not ridiculous. These machines are designed to run in a certain spec which have been clearly published, and if you want to run them in the middle of a heat wave outside with 100% relative humidity, you could cause all sorts of problems to happen. If you don't like those conditions, get a computer designed to run in a heat wave. There aren't many that will take that sort of heat.
Now it is entirely possible that you are using it on a surface which could enhance whatever heat the machine already has inside and cause problems. I've seen that happen before. This article discusses heat on Macs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30612
And furthermore, MacBooks early on had a problem whereby they shipped with a blocked port! Check for it:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303848
If neither of these seems to apply, might I suggest you take it up with your homeowners insurance or the credit card company you purchased the computer with. Obviously there is something you are doing which doesn't fall within the realm of the machine's known operating parameters. It may not be your fault, it may just ignorance about how these machines work. But LCDs you can't touch with any significant pressure, and the hinge or latch could have broken because of some dust in the bag getting into some small space, and thus letting the unit cause the keyboard to jam a little into the screen. If it does that, all bets are off as to when the LCD will crack.

  • 13" Macbook Display Problem/Solution

Mid-summer, my Macbook's display bit the dust. I took it to the Apple Store in Providence, RI, and was told $280. I called Apple Care (which I do not have a subscription to), and was told $800 -- until I mentioned the previous quote from the store. As a college student that had already put $140 into a replacement iPod when the hard drive crashed on me, I made it through the summer before returning to an extra monitor back in Minnesota.
Well, I finally found some time to take this thing apart to check on the bulb and inverter (which seemed to be the most common monitor problems around the Internet) after my trackpad got stuck, and I needed to set it free. Everything looked fine, but it was dusty inside. I gave it a good cleaning, and assumed it must be the inverter as the display comes in and out as it pleases for a few seconds here and there when I wake it up from a sleep.
For some reason it seems to be working today. It doesn't want to kick in when I wake it up, but when I turn the brightness all the way down, the display kicks in when I start to brighten it up. This is the longest it has worked in quite some time (about 15 minutes, and then now that I woke it up again another 10 or so).
Does this point to the inverter for those of you who know some more about the inner-workings of Apple products?
Also, for those struggling from a similar problem open you Macbook up, make sure your inverter cable is connected, and clean up everything inside --- only AFTER you have talked to Apple about what they can do. From what I understand, opening it up yesterday was my last chance that Apple will take a look at it anymore.
Thanks. I hope it's just the inverter and I can swap it out.

MIne didn't fade but has a crack same year as yours and was told approx 365 Euros not sure in US$ how much that maybe. It's for the complete replacement of the screen and labour

  • Early 2009 Macbook display problems

I have a early 2009 macbook (aluminium). when i try to turn it on all that comes up is a lit up black screen, as if it is on but nothing happens. i went in to an apple store and he connected it to an external display but still nothing happened. Please help

That's ALL they did at the Apple Store? Really? Normally they'll run a diagnostic on it and at least tell you what the problem is.
Is the macbook starting up? Do you hear the start up chime? If so I'm guessing that the graphics chip has failed. IF that's the case you'll more than likely need a new logic board. Keep in mind that I'm guessing, it's impossible to diagnose hardware prolems on a user to user message board.
You can always try resetting the SMC and PRAM but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Macbook display problems

    Hi
I have a macbook that was given the ol beer in the keyboard treatment and went dark with a ghost image, before I bought it, leading me to believe that it was the inverter board had blown, I bought one online and replaced it but to no avail. The previous owner obviously had very little knowledge as they left a few screws out on reassembly but I don't think they should matter a lot. I could of course use it with an external monitor but kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop. So would like to get the display working without having to buy a new display. I cannot seem to find out if it is possible to replace the backlight, if this is the problem, or to find one for sale online, even on the excellent ifixit site. It is a 2Ghz intel core 2 duo.
If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful,
    Thanking you,
    Connor

This one looks like Jesus. Say that is is, sell it on eBay, make a fortune, buy a new MacBook Pro
Other than that, I would recommend taking it in for service again. If you've already had so much replaced, see if they will just swap out the machine for you.

  • Macbook Display Problems / Question

I have a Macbook 13.3.  The display sometimes gets really bright and you can't see a thing.  I've been told it could be the inverter board or the LCD display that needs replacement.  But no one if for sure.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

No way to no for sure without replacing each component. The inverter board is usually a lot cheaper and easier fix, so most home repairmen will simply replace that first.
But I will add that there are several other pieces that could be causing the problem. Could be a video cable or the logicboard as well. First thing I would do is connect an external monitor and see if the problem occurs. If not, you know that your logicboard is probably okay.

  • Dropped MacBook Display Problem

Hi, I dropped my old MacBook while it was asleep and closed, now the display is messed up.
The right third of the display is no longer functional. Roughly half the damaged area is black. The other half consists of vertical lines in various colors, one pixel wide, running all the way from the top to the bottom of the screen.
Im hoping to get some advice on what is damaged. The video cable that runs between the motherboard and the LCD is $40, a new LCD is $150. If I can be pretty sure which part I damaged it's well worth fixing.
    Thanks for any help.

It would be pure guess work withouth physically being in front of the machine.
