Macbook does not have my monitor's native display.

I'm using an acer H233H Monitor, and I have it connected by VGA. I have my macbook screen close, so it is only displaying on my monitor (not extended desktop). My monitor's native screen display is 1920 x 1080. However on system preference i only have 1600 x 1200 then the next one is 1920 x 1440. Whats weird is that sometimes (rarely) it would recognize the monitor and have the settings on 1920 x 1080. But its not stable, so i was wondering if i need to download any drivers or perhaps is there some settings on the mac im missing out on.

Another possibility is a broken wire inside the adapter. Sometimes it is making contact and sometimes not. Those times that it is working correctly vs. those times that it's not, do you notice the monitor is identified differently within Display Preferences? That would be further indication of an intermittent connection issue.

Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.

Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.

Firewire, USB and the recent thunderbolt use completely different protocols, therefore there are no adapters for mutually adapting them, just a computer, which allows connecting them, and will work as an interface. For example, if you have an external disk in an enclosure with only FW connection and another one with USB connection, just your mac, having both, allows their interconnectivity.
If your mac does not have FW (the brief alu MB series, Air) you cannot connect a FW device, if only FW port is there.

You probably know that mobilme goes away in June this year. There are two ways to access your mail account on iCloud, either through Lion or via the web. Web access won't get you to all the benefits of iCloud but will allow you to get to Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Find My iPhone. See this FAQ: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html
If you decide to go with Lion, the maximum memory you can install is 4GB, however the system will only use 3GB, which is enough to run Lion. I have a Macbook and I tried to connect an external Benq FP93GW using a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter but the external monitor does not detect any signal.
Any suggestions?

You might read this post of someone who couldn't get his external display to be recognized until he reset the MacBook's SMC (System Management Controller).

This thread also has some other details on trying to workaround color issues on the external display but it was a reset of the SMC that finally allowed the MacBook to recognize the display. However, Apple cautions that a reset of the SMC should only be done after other options or possibilities have been exhausted. Before you try a reset of the SMC you might want to try a reset of the MacBook's PRAM.

Why does my macbook pro not have an apperance tab under display

I am trying to connect my macbook pro to my tv to watch Netflix via an adapter and HDMI cable. I went into Display to go to Appearance and turn on mirroring but I don't have an appearance tab under display. Is there somewhere else this would be?

Thank you very much but now I have another question. I plugged in my adapter to my computer, plugged the adapter into the HDMI cable, plugged the HDMI Cable to my TV. I have tried the Detect displays button after I changed my TV to the HDMI source and Before I changed my TV but I still can't get my computer to detect any displays. IMac does not recognize external monitor using Mini Display Port to HDMI

I have been trying to get an external monitor (HDTV) set up for use with my iMac using a Mini Display Port to HDMI cable I just got. However, when I connect it to my iMac's mini display port, the imac's screen goes black for about a second, then returns, but it does not detect the external display. The other display is just showing a "no signal" message on the screen.
I have restarted, reset PRAM, connected and disconnected the cable several times, tried changing the resolution on the imac, plugged in/out the other display, and clicked the "detect displays" button using the option key in display preferences, but nothing has worked.
I am using an early 2009 iMac running Mavericks.
I've been using the AirParrot app, but it's horrible for video and a little slow.
Can anyone please help sort the issue here? I feel like ive exhausted everything that I know to do.

I have a Macbook Pro from late 2011. I am currently using Mac OS X Lion software. I am trying to set up iMessage so I can send texts from my Macbook but the application is not installed. I only have iChat. Is there a way that I can get the iMessage app installed on this Macbook?

Yeah, I'm having the same exact problem - It seems that the thunderbolt minidisplay port is only able to output the analog VGA signal, not the digital signal to support DVI and HDMI. This is a bug that came up after installing 10.7.1. I bought my macbook air with 10.7 on it, upgraded it to 10.7.1 as soon as I got it, so I have never been able to use hdmi or dvi with my macbook air. This is an extremely frustrating problem for me, I used HDMI on a daily basis with my PC. I have spent many hours at the genius bar running diagnostic tests so Apple can get as much information as possible to create a fix for this problem. I have been emailing tech support for 3 or so weeks now, they keep saying that they are working on a fix and it should be out soon, but 10.7.2 has come and gone and I still have no HDMI functionality with my MacBook Air!

Normally, you just connect the monitor to the MacBook using a VGA adaptor that you can buy from an Apple Store. Now try System Preferences > Displays > Detect Displays. You should now be able to select a display mode for the monitor. If it still doesn't work, then I'd check that everything is properly connected. I've had problems with colours disappearing due to a faulty connection in the VGA adaptor.

I've been a Mac since 2008, so I know my way around the system pretty well. This issue, however, has me stumped. I had an iMac until now and only now am I experiencing some difficulty with my new MacBook Pro. The model I have is the newest 13" Macbook Pro model and I'm trying to connect a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42" HDTV as a second monitor via the Thunderbolt port.
It worked the first two times and hasn't worked since, after 10-15 attempts with different configurations, turning things on n off, restarting the mac, unplugging the cables, adapters, TV, resetting the P RAM, etc... I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. No matter what I do, the Macbook does not sense the TV as a second monitor anymore.
I took the MacBook Pro to the Apple Store, and their "genius" there had it working fine with a DVI connection to a regular monitor. The Panasonic TV I have has HDMI connections and one VGA connection which does not support HD, but no DVI option. I want an HD connection to mirror or extend my MacBook Pro screen. At the Apple Store, they didn't have a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, so he could not try that out for me.
Anyone else have this configuration or another similar one with a Panasonic HDTV?
Ideas? Suggestions? Anything?! Help!!
P.S. I'm running Mountain Lion, if that wasn't already obvious. Everything is up to date in my App Store as well.

I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.

I have late 2012 MBP 13" and connect to my Panasonic Plasma correctly.
But using the same cable, can't connect to an LG 47LM6200, the MBP detects the TV, the screen blinks blue, but the TV shows "no sinal detected" message.
