Macbook Faded Colors

I just got my Macbook a few days ago and am happy with it except for the display. The colors seem to be faded or washed out. It was more noticeable in Windows XP for some reason, installed via Boot Camp. I tried adjusting the color settings (gamma, brightness, contrast) as much as possible without any acceptable setting. Compared to my Dell 700m which also has a glossy screen, the Apple's blacks look grey in comparison. Where as, the Dell's screen looks like true black. I'd hate to think Dell's displays are better than Apple's. Is this a common problem on Macbooks? I haven't read anything about it elsewhere so maybe it's my screen. I don't think I'm expecting too much. Has anyone else done actual side-by-side comparisons with another LCD?

Re-calibrating won't make a difference, I've already tried it several times. The LCD screen is the problem, no matter what you do, and no matter what angle you look at the screen, there is a VAST difference in color saturation from top to bottom. I have to tilt my screen back to it's farthest point just to read text near the bottom of the screen, that's how bad it is. Otherwise, everything at the bottom of the screen is very washed out, as though brigtness were turned all the way up, and contrast all the way down. The color of Dock icons are all faded pastel colors on the bottom instead of the rich bright colors they are at the top of the screen. This is most definitely a defective LCD, and I hope Apple will replace it.

  • Faded colors when printing from Acrobat - different than previous

    Hi
I have read some threads about color fading when printing a PDF created in ID and printed from Acrobat. My problem is the same and I am also having the same problem with PDF's exported from Keynote (client created posters). It sounds like I should work with the PDF optimizer for the solution. Has anyone experienced the fading colors from anything other than ID or Quark made PDF's? Did the optimizer fix the problem? I find it frustrating that I can print directly from ID and not have a problem - why can't they all get along!  ;0)
Using Acrobat 9, Keynote 09 and an Epson 9880 printer.
    Thanks

RE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
    Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps.

  • Is there a way to fix faded color and ghost lines on Iphone?

The screen on my phone is showing faded colors and when there is white text a ghost line appears. Is there a way to fix this? or is my phone just dying?

your phone screen is dying. you need a repair. If your in warranty just contact apple but if not get a repair shop to fix it. their is no workarounds for this.

  • Why are my photos printed after work in photoshop coming our with faded color?

I am on a Mac with Maverick, using Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5. I am doing a portrait of 24 people and need to combine several photos to get an appealing final product. I move my photos from Lightroom and in Photoshop using mask layers have been combining the pictures. When I transfer them out as a Jpeg, and send them to a commercial printer they come out with a faded color look. I am at my whits end trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Does anyone know what the solution is to this frustrating problem?

So gator, I am using a calibrator on my monitor and both printers Costco and Mpixpro are giving me the same results. If I dont do more than two layers in my work, I get fantastic results that I am totally pleased with. It is only when I involve multiple pictures and multiple layers. Are you saying to be in ProPhotoRGB unitl I create it into a Jpeg and then change it to a sRBG, for export to the printer. Do my settings look correct to you in LR and PS? Because, the more I here from the Forum, the more I think it is a setting deaper than my knowlege goes. Help please! I am attaching an example of my finished product in LR and it looks the Same in Photoshop as you can see. So I am including a view in my LR of the screen shot, a view in PS w the layers after the layers have been flattened, then a shot of saving it (But I have been saving it in "standard" not "optimized as in this picture) but you notice it is saying it is saving it as a ProPhotoRGB, and the last shot is the screenshot of it as a Jpeg in PS. Also I am including Info shots on the screen of the PS file and the Jpeg in hopes someone will see my problem and know the solution. When I do info checks, they show sRBG about 80% and ProPhotoRBG about 20% even though I have used the same steps? I have tried to capture a bunch of my work in screen shots that you might see the issue. Thanks so much for your time and help!

  • New Macbook air display being washed out -- faded colors.

I have a new 2012 intel i5 128 running Lion 10.7.2. I have tried every adjustment that I am aware of: contrast settings; color calibration; brightness. But the display just looks faded. Next to my older Macbook Pro it looks really bad. I read on other blogs that several people have reported the same problem but there doesn't seem to be any solution. Advise?
    thx,
    Malthus

I have been researching the macbook air as I'm thinking of buying one. I found a story that the display can be made by either Samsum or LG. And the LG may appear not as good, but it is a matter of fixing some obscure settings, not really an LG hardware deficiency.  See:
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/30/how-to-check-for-an-lg-display-in-a-macbook-air-a nd-make-it-look-better/
(this is not the only article on this topic)
It all seems to involve hairy command line stuff however, so I suggest you google around the topic (macbook air LG versus Samsung displays) a bit more and be ready to restore your system if you try it and it ends in tears.
    Good luck.

Pictures would help. A good way to do this is to post them to a free photo sharing site like Flickr and then post a link.
Also, you are in the original MBP section, and I think you need to post your question in the newer MBP section:

  • Macbook Pro Color Profile and Calibration for Photo processing.

    Hello Friends,
May be it has already discussed in many forums but somehow I got confused about different solutions of the questions and due to this asking once again here.
I am using Macbook pro of 2012 and there exist many color profiles in the Display settings.
I am a photographer who uses Photoshop for the editing as well as Canon Software.
To get the most accurate Monitor Calibration Should I use default "color LCD" profile ?
I am not using any External Calibration tool. I have manually calibrate the screen but somehow I am not 100% confident on that.
In that case should I go for default "color LCD" for my photo processing. I found some light yellow cast/warm color on that profile but I am not sure..
Any help/suggestion will be much appreciated.
I am using:- MacBook Pro + OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5
    Warm Regards,
    Ari...

Which model MacBook Pro? [EDIT] my bad, didn't see it in your original post
You mentioned that there is no error message when you try to change the profile; something is probably being reported to console though. Open Console.app (in /Applications/Utilities/) and see if anything is reported to it while you're experiencing these problems. If so, please post it here and I'll take a look at it.
Are you using the default profile that came with the machine or did you create your own by using the Calibration Assistant?
You might try opening Color Sync Utility (in /Applications/Utilities/) and verify or repair (if necessary) your color profiles.
    Hope this helps....

  • Macbook and color profiles?

    simple question.. maybe..
i have photoshop on my macbook. the photos i work on look the same in photoshop and in preview.
when i upload them to a photo-sharing website (ala fotki.com) its much lighter, as if the color profile is completely different (in firefox & safari).
when i look at the same uploaded photo on my vaio laptop it looks exactly as in my macbook's photoshop.. whats going on here??
    thanks.

I don't think you should consider yourself of the 'lucky few' crowd. You have to remember that most people come to these forums because they are having problems - and the Macbook forums are busy because a lot of people are buying them. MOST of the Macbook users are not here - prob. don't even know about these posts and are more than likely off enjoying their little books without issue.
Having a problem free Macbook puts you in the majority. Being in these forums with a problem free Macbook puts you in the minority.

  • MacBook Pro Color??

I know this might be a really dumb question but i can't tell from the website. Is the outer color of the computer silver or white? Do you have the option of getting white, black, or silver?
My sister just bought one and i'm trying to buy her something to match her laptop...but i can't tell what color it comes in and i'm not sure what she says is correct.
Any help with this would be great!! Thanks for your time!

The case is made of aluminum, which if you've ever seen will give you a benchmark for what color it is, a matte silver. It doesn't have a clear polycarbonate case like the smaller MacBooks, so it isn't as shiny.

  • Black MacBook Cable Color?

    Hello everyone,
Just about to buy a MacBook and need help to decide on the color. When they were first released I recall seeing posts by some people disappointed to discover that the power adapter and cable for the Black MacBook was white and looked odd.
Is that still the case now?
Is there anything else I should consider between the two colors?
    Thanks
    Ian

all cables shipped with the black macbook, black ipods, and colored ipods are white. always have been, always will be.

  • HELP!  I just got a new HP printer that prints GRAY and FADED COLORS

I just got a new HP Printer, and all faxes are pure black, all copies are pure black, but anything I send to the printer from my mac prints GRAY and colors are all FADED... I have gone thru all the steps with HP and it seems it is some kind of setting in my mac that I am unaware of... Does anyone out there knows what setting(s) I need to get to in my mac to correct this?

Hi tydiva, and a warm welcome to the forums!
When the Print Dialog comes up, click on the Copies & Pages drop down, check settings under those, especially Colorsync & Pinter Settings or Quality.
    Which HP is it?
When the dialog comes up, print as/save as PDF, does it look the same in preview as the printer?

  • MacBook Pro Color Gradient Issue?

    Hey there,
I have a new MBP 15-inch with the LED backlit screen. Some sunset photos (with large areas of fine gradients), look pixely. I've seen the photos on a really nice CRT and there's no pixellation in the photos. They're 8 megapixel RAW files from a Canon DSLR.
Is this simply due to the LED screen's lack of color depth, or is my computer having issues?

    Hi there,
I have the same problem here with my MBP (Mid-Summer 2007, 2,4 GHz, LED) and I pretty sure, that this started to appear recently and wasnt there from the beginning. I you look down from the top of your screen (in a very sharp angle) then the affected area where gradients look bad is looking blue colored. I attached a "screen shot" of the greek sunset and another picture and screen shots with the same issue.
    TIA and greetings!

  • Firefox and faded colors- driving me nuts. need major help

''locking as a duplicate of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1047927''
am running Vista and have the latest version of Firefox (35.01). I have an older Graphics card- A Gforce 6150SE
Just recently, I noticed my black fonts have become faded and washed out looking. I assumed it was my monitor, so I already tossed it and bought a new one. Problem not solved.
I read to disable the hardware accelerator. That did not solve the problem. I even double checked the the two config things.
    Still I cannot fix this.
I need assistance as my brain power has run out!!!
