Macbook FREEZES when apply pressure on wrist rest

help! My macbook has been freezing whenever i accidentally hit/bang the lower left wrist rest area. This is really annoying! It happens to frequently.. even when I want to shift my laptop from table to table. Even a slight bang would freeze the whole thing

Take the computer to Apple store and have it checked out.

  • Illustrator Freezes when applying Overprint

    Dear friends:
I have a MacBook Pro (2,4 Ghz, 2 Gb DDR2 SDRAM) since last august and, until yesterday, I hadnt had any major problems. Last weekend I decided to upgrade to Leopard, formatted my computer, installed and updated every program and I was very happy this morning when I started to work on several files in the usual need of overprint to be set.
Unfortunately, much to my surprise, the use of this feature has caused an absolute freeze on Illustrator: I still hear my iTunes on the background but I cannot switch applications and, even if I wait fifteen minutes, Illustrator does not come back. I have upgraded to Illustrator 13.0.2 an hour ago: same problem. The worst part is that I have to restart the bad way my machine every time, because the system ignores my [cmd]+[opt]+[esc]. So I am very angry: just today I have mistreated my machine more than in the nine previous months. I have delete the prefs several times and always freezes when applying the overprint. I do not want to start with the ridiculous guessing (such as the customized shortcuts or the language of the OS, that I have set in Spanish). Does anyone have a clue? Is this a known issue?
    Best regards,
    Eduardo Guarniz I.
ps. I have also updated the Leopard to Mac OSX 10.5.2.

    Dear friends:
I have suffered another crash. I have deleted my preferences again, restarted having only Illustrator running and, again, freeze on overprint. As it happened a couple of seconds before 9:00 pm I could noticed that the time was announced (I have set my Date & Time pref that way) but the clock froze on the menu bar a 20:59. Another restart.
    Best regards,
    Eduardo Guarniz I.
PS. Is there a chance of damaging my computer because of this? Because it is getting ridiculous and I have work to do?

  • My macbook freezes when l try to upload photos

my macbook freezies when i try to upload photos to a web site.

When someone complains that their music upload stalls I immediately think of three problems:
    1) corrupt song(s)
    2) bad cable
    3) bad hard drive
The list is actually in reverse order of my expectations. Since you were able to format the drive it obviously hasn't suffered a hard crash but there might be a very large number of bad sectors. Go here to see how to put the iPod into diagnostic mode so you can further check the drive.
If the drive passes muster borrow another cable. And finally, create a playlist and verify that each song is good by playing it. See if it will sync. If it does, add more songs (verified good). Keep repeating.

  • Macbook freezing when restarting to update

I'm trying to update my 2010 Macbook Pro to the newest OS + itunes versions, but it freezes when restarting (it's showing the space screen indefinitely). Anyone has a solution, I can try? Many thanks

Forgot to mention that when it is connected to the internet it will work for a few minutes and then crash. I checked this with safari, chrome and firefox and all 3 crashed after a few minutes.

  • PISMO Powerbook G3: Pressure on wrist rests turns off

    Hi,
I just revived an old Pismo and it's working great, but I'm still stuck with the same problem. Whenever I put pressure on the wrist rest near the track pad, the computer immediately shuts off. If I put pressure anywhere else, including on all the items under the keyboard, I have no problems, so I feel like I've narrowed it down to some sort of loose connection/cracked board or something under or near the trackpad.
Is there anyone that's into Pismo's that might have an idea of what might be causing it (and how to get to it--I've been reading a great take-apart tutorial here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/sysop/PhotoAlbum7.html).
    Thanks!
    Bob

    Bob,
Here is a picture of the top case which includes the trackpad, etc:
    http://www.ifixit.com/PowerBook-Parts/G3-Pismo-Upper-Case/IF106-006
Here is a picture of the power board which lies under the trackpad:
    http://www.ifixit.com/PowerBook-Parts/G3-Pismo-Power-Card/IF106-008
If you were to disconnect the trackpad ribbon cable, you may be able to eliminate the top case. See step #32 here:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/PowerBook-G3-Pismo-Upper-Case/31/11#s79
You might also try this: Grab each side of the powerbook with the left and right hands away from the sensitive area. Now provide a little twisting and bending to see if the 'book shuts down.

  • Macbook freezes when dashboard accessed

Two nights ago, I let my computer sleep until the morning (I rarely shut it down at night). When I tried to login to the computer (via the screensaver password prompt), the computer froze. I did a force quit via the power button and when it restarted, the no (slash/circle) sign appeared then the flashing question mark. I then attempted to fix it via the disk utility, but I gave up when the utility searched ad nauseum.
I was able to restarted the computer and use it with no problems until I pressed the F12 key to access the dashboard. The computer freezes when the dashboard is displayed. If I have iTunes open, it will still play, but I can't get access the force quit via altctrlescape route.
I'm in the midst of finals and can't leave my computer at the Apple Store right now.
Has anyone had a similar problem? I recently did the firmware update. Could this be related?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Macbook freezes when charging

    Hi,
I have a white unibody macbook (late 2009 model) ; It functions normally when being used. However, when I have put the macbook on charging and if not used for long time, macbook freezes. Only mouse cursor moves but nothing happens. Everytime, i need to hard boot to get the system back.
Don't see any activity on the hard drive and also, the CPU is normal, the fan speed is normal.
Tried PRAM reset but didn't work.
Any suggestions that could help to identify the root cause.
    Thanks,

The problem is that there aren't any drivers for the MacBook that are compatible with Windows 8, so you will have to wait. I haven't heard freezing on the final Windows 8 version on MacBooks, so it looks like the final version fixes that problem

  • My Macbook freezes when i access to internet

everytime i try to access to internet (through ethernet cable or airport) my macbook freezes and i have to press shut down button. can you please help me

Which app are you trying to use when you get that message?
If it is Safari, first try to close the app and open it again.  If that does not work, power your iPhone off and after a few minutes, power it back on, then try again.

  • Macbook freezes when connecting external display

I have tried to connect my MacBook to an external monitor, a ViewSonic VA1912wb, but the MacBook freezes each time I try. There is no opportunity to go to System Preferences with the display attached. Has anyone got an idea how to deal with this?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 GHz, 2 GB

    Hi,
    Sorry for the delay.
I reset the PRAM, and there was no discernible difference in the computer's behavior with the external monitor.
I began the process to repair the directory per your FAQ, but had difficulty in understanding how to boot to a different disk. My Mac OS X install disk is 10.4.6 and I have upgraded to 10.4.8 on my MacBook. I am a Mac newibe, so I may be missing the easy solution.
I decided to try something else in the interim. I connected my monitor to the computer with an analog cable rather than the DV-I cable I had been using.
It almost works perfectly. I am not able to get the MacBook to offer me a choice to use the display at it's native resolution (1440x900), but I can run it at 1440x1050, which is serviceable.
I will close this question, then and put the other issues in the appropriate forum.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Macbook freezes when pressure put on bottom left corner or when picked up

    Hi all,
So this started happening a few months ago (it didn't happen often, but now it occurs almost daily). Sometimes when I place my phone, or press down with my hand on the bottom left corner of my macbook it goes black, as if going into sleep mode. Sometimes it wakes up after a few seconds, other times I have to reboot. Additionally, sometimes when I pick up my macbook it freezes and I have to reboot. If I'm in the middle of watching something when it freezes, say on Netflix, then it often makes a strange clicking noise. It kind of sound like the noise at the end of a record. After I reboot it's fine right up until the next freeze. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Macbook freezes when opened up?

When I open up my Macbook Pro with retina display, and I have the login screen, it sometimes freezes, and I have to restart the computer.

Which OS are you using ?

  • Macbook freezing when more than one program runs

    Hello all,
My Macbook is about a year and a half old. A few weeks ago, it crashed catastrophically, and the geniuses at my local store replaced the logic board.
Since getting it back, it's been crashing almost every time I try to run more than one program, such as itunes and safari. Ichat video or photobooth on their own cause it to freeze. The freezing process is gradual; first the program I'm looking at freezes, but I can navigate to other programs, but within a few minutes those freeze as well. During the freeze, the cursor moves (in beachball shape) but the screen is unresponsive and apple-option-escape has no effect; the only solution is to manually turn it off. It's also taking longer and longer to boot up. This happens when it's plugged in as well as on battery power. It's gotten to the point that I'm scared to do work on it, because I can't trust it to work long enough to save my data. What happened? Is this the result of my "fixed" logic board or something else? I am getting SO FRUSTRATED by how unreliable my macbook has become!!

To rule out any 3rd part apps/additions are causing the problem, try booting into Safe Mode...

Have you replaced/changed Ram lately? ...if so, try reverting back to the old.
You could also ensure you've run your standard Maint. scripts (via Onyx, Cocktail etc...) and perhaps boot to the Install DVD to verify/repair the hard drive and its permissions. Booting to the Install DVD and running the Apple Hardware Test (hold 'D' on startup) could also reveal things.
Failing all that, try resetting the SMC and Pram...

To rule out a 'bad' hard drive you could either replace it physically or try booting from another Macbook via firewire...

These are all a bunch of general procedures that the user can try to eliminate the issues - if nothing works, you'll need to make another trip to the genius bar.

  • My macbook freezes when trying to shut it down..

I own a macbook with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) operating system.  The problem with my macbook is that when i shut it down freezes before it turns off. In order to fix the problem i repaired th disk permissions and i reinstalled the operating system but the same thing happens all the time.  If anyone has an answer about my issue please let me know what the problem.
    Thank you in advance.

Reinstalling is not the only way.  But as you mentioned that you had reinstalled, I just wanted to confirm if it was a clean installation or if you had installed over your previous installation.  If it was a clean install and you still had the problem, we would be able to rule out any third party applications causing the problem.  Now we'll just need to track down the application which is preventing your system from shutting down.
How long has this been happening?  If it started recently, do you recall installing any applications shortly before you experienced the problem?
You can check the system logs and see if any of your applications appear to be causing a problem at shutdown.  You can go into your Applications / Utilities folder and launch the Console application.  In particular, check out the System and CrashReporter logs.

  • Macbook freezing when left open and untouched

I have a 6-month-old macbook that has been working wonderfully (besides a glitch that was fixed at the Genius Bar a couple months ago) up until this past week. Recently, whenever I leave my macbook open and untouched for a while, sometimes for just a few minutes, the screen saver will come on like normal. However, when I move the mouse to get back to my desktop, the screen saver disappears and the computer freezes. I don't think I've changed any settings and I can't think of anything that I've been doing differently than before when it worked well. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
