Macbook hardware spec.

where can i find my macbook pro's hardware spec on this website...
i recently took it for repairs and want to check whether they changed any of the hardware on it.
thanx

You can find your Mac's specs through System Profiler (Apple menu -> About this Mac -> More Info) or through other software.
To find your Mac's specifications you should go here and put in your Serial Number. Your Serial Number is either on the System Profiler pane or under Apple menu -> About This Mac -> Click twice on the Version number
-- And as Brody said of course don't put your serial here. Go to the link and do it.

  • How to find MacBook Air specs

    Hi,
I bought my MacBook Air in approx Oct 2010 - is there a page somewhere with the hardware specs?
I'm trying to find out if I can connect it to a VGA or DVI monitor.

You can open System Information app to find more info about the hardware. As you can see in this page, you can buy a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter or a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter to use the MacBook with a monitor with VGA or DVI

  • My Macbook Pro Specs! What's my official Hardrive Capacity?

    Hi,
I'm new to Macbook Pro and this Mac Forum but I can't see how else I can be helped.
I am sorry for myself that I didn't copy my MacBook Pro specs from the website when I ordered and bought it.
It's so tough to find out exactly what it is. I wonder if anyone can help me piece together which one I have.
I have the following on the invoice but I can't find it on the support version:
    MBP 15.4 / 2.66 / 2X2GB / 500 / SD / GLSY-ITP
    Product Number: MC373ZP/A
    Ships: within 24 hours
    Delivers: 08/09/2010 - 13/09/2010
I don't know how to check my specs on the MacBook Pro but I downloaded a free utility that gave me the following:
    MacBook Pro (MacBookPro6,2)
    Intel Core i7 @ 2660 MHz
    4 GB - DDR3 @ 1067 MHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
    2011-01-09 23:20:40 +0800
    Mac OS X 10.6.6
    Intel Core i7 @ 2660 MHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
    4096 MB System RAM
    * RAM Speed: 4896 MB/s
    CPU Tests
    * Floating Point Operations/Second: 143019680
    * Integer Operations/Second: 273786208
    * MD5 Hashes Calculated/Second: 1000304
    Graphics Tests
    * 3D Frames Per Second: 312
    Hardware Tests
    * Primary Partition Capacity: 360 GB
    * Drive Write Speed: 56 MB/s
It shows I only have 360GB in my Primary Partition Capacity? BUT according to the invoice and what I thought I had bought: MBP 15.4 / 2.66 / 2X2GB / 500 / SD / GLSY-ITP
    I should have 500GB hardrive isn't it?
    I can't find my version on http://support.apple.com/specs/#macbookpro ???
    Thanks for all your help!

You ordered, and I expect received a 500 Gb hard drive.
There are no macs supplied with 360 Gb Hard drives.
I expect you have a 140 Gb Bootcamp partition which your utility will not see.
The clearest picture of your hard drive/partition status is in the app called "Disk Utility" in the Applications/Utilities folder.
Sizes of HD are reported by different definitions, which sometimes causes confusion, but would not explain your discrepancy.

  • Macbook Hardware Update

    Hello,
I was wondering when Apple will upgrade the Macbooks again, because I'm about to buy one, but I don't know if it's the right moment to buy one now.
So, does somebody knows whether Apple will upgrade (hardware specs) the Macbooks in the upcoming six months?
    Thanks!
p.s. Sorry if this question is in the wrong category

It's not in the wrong category, but no one here can tell you when Apple plans to upgrade their specifications. Apple does regularly upgrade their processors (as they have done recently with a number of models) when faster processors become available. Most of these changes would be negligible in terms of performance with respect to what they are replacing. Apple does not pre-announce upgrades and speculation about such is against this sites Terms of Use. MacRumors does make an educated guess on when products will be updated... but it's nothing more than a guess based somewhat on past history:

    1. The scrolling, as far as I've been able to determine, is by using the slide bar to the right of most diplays. There are no up or down arrows that allow slow movement
    2. The top and botton toolbars are not visible. The top one appears when you point the arrow to the top of the screen but the same doesn't work well if at all pointing the cursor to the bottom.
    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.

Can you do something about these problems
It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems

  • Need suggestion on the entire hardware specs for running Oracle VM 2.2.2

    Hi,
I need some suggestion on the preffered hardware specs which can be given to a customer, he wants to run Oracle VM 2.2.2 or Oracle VM 2.2.1.
He has already used Cisco UCS with NetApp storage for OVM 2.2.2/2.2.1 and has being unsucessful with lots of issues creeping up. Thus now need suggestion on the hardware spec which is well tested and works fine with Oracle VM 2.2.2/2.2.1 and he wants to run Oracle Fusion Middleware on top of it.
Any poniters to it will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Avi,
thank you for that information !
Yes. But only for the UCS gear that uses the converged FCoE adapters. If you have standard Ethernet/FC adapters, then it should be OK.We do use the "M71KR-Q QLogic Converged Network Adapter" with UCS. According to you this is an unsupported combination together with OVM 2.2.1, right ?
Now the "Oracle VM 2.2 Validated Configuration Details" shows UCS B200 M1 with M71KR-Q as a valid configuration. Does 2.2 mean OVM 2.2.0 and this is supported, but 2.2.1 / 2.2.2 is not ?
Please clarify since this confuses me.

  • Display Hardware specs for After Effects

    Hi,
For Mac Os the hardware specs are (and I'm not mentioning all the specs.... just a couple)
5GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space for disk cache (10GB recommended)
    14400x900 display
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
I'm I crazy or should the display need minimal 1440x900? I mean ...14400 is a little bit to much isn't it?
Thnx for your time and attention.

  • Hardware Spec for SAP ISU 6 + CRM IDES 7

    Hi,
What would be a recommended hardware spec required to run SAP ISU 6 + CRM IDES 7 with atmost 4-5 concurrent users?
I plan to implement it using CentOS & SAP MAXDB.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumith

    Hi,
As the concurrent users seem to be less, you only need to ensure disk space (for an ERP and CRM IDES you would need atleast 600-700GB) along with appropriate page file size of approx 120-140GB.
    As for CPU/RAM: a 2 CPU/8Cores (Intel/AMD 2.08GHz) with 32GB RAM should do well enough.
However, if you plan to do the setup for productive environment please use the SAP Quick Sizer tool.

What is the recommended hardware specs for Reader in Android? I would like to have smooth scrolling experience for scanned pdf ebooks with mathematical equations, images and graphs. Also keep the price low on my new tablet. Thank you.

Getting one of the latest devices would obviously give you the best performance, but any device which supports Android 4 or above should be good enough.

  • ASA 5545X hardware specs

    Hi,
I got my hands on a brand new asa 5545X. After reading on the hardware specs and comparing the real thing with my own eyes has got me into a confusion.
I can only access 1 core cpu with 6G of ram, however the specs says about 8 core cpu and 12G of ram. where is the remaining hardware hidden away ?
Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 9.1(1)
    Device Manager Version 7.1(1)52
Compiled on Wed 28-Nov-12 11:15 PST by builders
    System image file is "disk0:/asa911-smp-k8.bin"
Config file at boot was "startup-config"
    asa-1 up 9 mins 46 secs
Hardware:   ASA5545, 12288 MB RAM, CPU Lynnfield 2659 MHz, 1 CPU (8 cores)
ASA: 6144 MB RAM, 1 CPU (1 core)
    Internal ATA Compact Flash, 8192MB
    BIOS Flash MX25L6445E @ 0xffbb0000, 8192KB
Can someone help me to understand this difference please ?

The ASA and IPS within ASA-X series shares CPU, RAM and Flash, and they are pre-allocated.
The 1 core and 6G of RAM is allocated for the ASA and the rest are allocated for the IPS.

  • Two Macbooks, same spec, yet one has major connectivity issues

    Hi,
I have two (old - 2006) macbooks, bought at exactly the same time, exactly the same spec, probably off the same factory line. Yet one has serious Airport issues which are proving very difficult.
It will pick up a maximum of one wireless network, which it barely is able to connect to. There are 3 wireless networks in this house yet it only picks up the nearest one. The other macbook can pick up at least 15 other networks despite being exactly the same spec and on the desk next to it.
Even when it connects to my network, connections are frequently dropped - over 50% packet loss generally.
Both are running the same OS and are exactly the same spec. I have tried resetting the PRAM, deleting the airport prefs, resetting the SMC; you name it I've tried it. I noticed that this is quite a common issue with Snow Leopard + Airport, but I am now thinking it could be a faulty Airport card. Could this be the case?

You already mentioned that you thought that "it could be a faulty AirPort card". I agreed and offered another possibility as well.
Whether or not you are using Snow Leopard, if you have a faulty wireless card or a faulty antenna connector, you will most certainly have major connectivity issues.
You've already performed all the standard troubleshooting steps and mentioned that you felt it may be a hardware issue.
If you have changed your mind and feel that it's a Snow Leopard issue, (logic would dictate that it would have also affected your other identical computer the same way) you have the option of reinstalling the operating system to see if that might help.

  • Hardware specs for a 9iAS application

    Hi,
Where can we get some documents regarding the hardware details needed for the
    9iAS.
Suppose the scenario is like this:-
we have our 9iAS on an NT server, a maximum concurrent usage of the the deployed forms is predicted to be between 250 and 300, there are more than 100 different reports provided, the maximum records(on a 8iDS on different server) that it has
to handle is more than 8 - 10 lacs....
Would the specification below be sufficient for the 9iAS server:
64 bit RISC PROCESSOR 800 MHz or Intel Pentium III or more,
Main Memory 1GB RAM expandable to 2 GB or more,
Hard disk - 18 GB or more,
    100Mbps Ethernet interface
    Networking specs???
We saw many features about Oracle's partnership with Compaq, regarding database servers and RAC. Can we recommend
such Oracle partner's to our clients. Is there other DETAILED documents available in Compaq's or some other sites(Oracle partners), regarding
    deployment of Oracle applications.
    Thank you,
    Ranjith.

read the "A Capacity Planning Guide" at:

This should help you evaluate your middle tier needs.

  • New to MacBooks - which spec do I need?

    Hi all
Many thanks in advance for any help.
My current Asus laptop has died on me after 2 years (typically all my laptops last me 2 years). I have always had Windows laptops in the past.
I have an iphone and an ipad which is why I'm now looking to Apple for my next laptop. However, I'm finding trying to decide which spec I need a nightmare.
I'm looking at the new MacBook Pro retina model which has just come out.
    Requirements as follows:
    - On the whole, I have my laptop on all evening every evening and all day weekends.
    - I usually have at least 4-5 browser tabs open at a time (eg always have facebook and twitter open in the background, then may be actively looking at at least another 2 pages at once). I also usually keep my mailbox open.
    - I take a lot of large photos (18 megapixels a time) and use photo-editing software photoshop and lightroom (open the same time as all my browser windows)
    - I don’t do any video editing or serious gaming. I don’t do any programming or web development or anything. My main usage is internet browsing and photography.
    - I have a lot of music but currently signed up to itunes match which keeps it in the cloud.
    - My current laptop screen is 15 inches. I have an ipad for on-the-move, I don’t really take my laptop out and about (possibly just because it’s too bulky). I feel like it could be a bit of a shock going down to 13 inches and possibly not the best for the photography. However the 15 inch models are ridiculously expensive.
It’s my understanding the newest OS will require quite a lot of memory.
Any help gratefully received. I’d be looking at the new mackbook pro retina models which came out last week. Customising them is possible, but I’m leaning towards buying from John Lewis and getting 5 year warranty which would mean I’d have to stick to the pre-configured models.

Having done photo editing with Photoshop on both the 13" and 15" I prefer the 15" for working but the 13" for traveling. Since I use an external display at work and at my home office the 13" works out fine. But if I had to use the 13" for all my photo editing I'd quickly sell it! The extra screen real estate is that important. I've seen nothing that suggests 10.10 will require lots more memory and the fact that the computer has an SSD mitigates against the need for lots of extra RAM. I do know that 10.9 isn't very happy with just 4GB and very unhappy with 2GB - when running on a computer with a mechanical drive but with an SSD 4GB is more than enough and 2GB is not bad. Given the extra oomph of an SSD, there's no reason to think that 8GB won't be enough for the next 4-5 years. Oglethorpe is also correct that you'll want to choose the largest drive you can afford.
