Macbook - IOS 10.5.8 Need Upgrade Help

I have a 13 in Mid-2009 MacBook Pro (Specs below) and need to update my OS since I'm no longer able to install Java Updates (computer used for web and MS office). How do I go about getting this upgraded? Do I need to upgrade to an OS before Mountain Lion? Thanks for help.
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model ID: MacBookPro 5,5
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz

L2 Cache: 3MB
Memory: 4MB

There is no safe version of Java for Mac OS X 10.5.8. You will need to either diable Java or upgrade your system. Although your machine should be compatible with Mountain Lion, you don't necessarily want or need to jump ahead three versions of Mac OS X. You should be able to update to Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) and update to the latest version of Java 6. (Note that, on Mountain Lion, installing the latest Java 6 update removes the web applet plug-in, which can only be restored by installing Java 7. Java 7 won't work in Snow Leopard, but I don't know if the Snow Leopard update removes the plug-in. That would be a question for the Snow Leopard forum.)
If you decide to upgrade to Mountain Lion, you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first anyway, so you might as well take that intermediate step first. Snow Leopard can only be obtained at this point by calling the Apple Store on the phone and ordering it.
For more about the security implications of using Java, see Using Java in Mac OS X.

If your iPhone can't be updated to a higher iOS version then the only way to get them is if you downloaded versions of them which were compatible with iOS 4.2.1 and you still have copies of those versions somewhere e.g. on your computer or on a backup - only the current version of each app is available in the store, and as apps (and other content) are tied to the account that downloads them, you will need to have older copies that are linked to your id

  • Need upgrade help for ZEN 3.2 and NW 5.1.

We have a Netware 5.1 network running ZfD 3.2 that spans two locations and
comprises two partitions. We want to upgrade to NW 6.5 and ZEN 7.
I have just found TID10083888 that says that ZfD 3.2 is not compatible with
    NW 6.5.
    My question is this:
What is the order in which items should be upgraded and to what interim
versions on each step? Keep in mind that each upgrade could be separated by
days or weeks, so the network needs to be functional between each upgrade.
Also, does upgrading NW or ZfD at one location affect operations at the
other? Should both locations be upgraded synchronously?
Clients are Windows 2000 and Citrix.

There's only one problem with this approach. I was told in another group
that my first NW 6.5 server should be my CA.
My CA is the main file server and the one doing the WS imports. This would
seem to necessitate a more granular approach, starting with the main file
server and upgrading it to ZfD 4.01.
    What do you think?

  • Need Upgrade Help!!!

I started a new job a couple of months ago and with the new job came a company furnished HTC Ozone.  I currently have a Blackberry Curve phone for personal use.  The Curve is due for an upgrade now and  I absolutely hate the Ozone, but I can't talk our company phone person into getting a different phone.  What options do I have to upgrade my Curve and switch that phone to my company phone?  I really do not need my personal phone anymore either, so I am hesitant about extending my contract for 2 more years.

That is strictly up to your company, not anyone on these forums or at Verizon. Only your company can permit a personal phone access to their account. My company, for example, does not allow any personal cell phones access to their network, wifi or cellular. Must be a company issued device. (Security concerns) Your company may or may not be different.

  • MacBook Pro won't boot, need urgent help.

Okay, let's get the full back story on the computer. I bought it in March 2007, I had a strange light column on my display so I took it into Apple in October to get it fixed along with an issue I was having with AirPort Express, so the computer comes back and they replaced just about everything logic board, display, keyboard / top case of the laptop.. the only thing I don't think they replaced was the hard drive and the bottom part of the case.
March 2008 rolls by and my AppleCare expires. April comes and my computer begins doing this thing where 6-8 hours of use it just "freezes" the mouse still moves and you can still click for a few moments but then it just goes stops doing everything except mouse movement, try to reboot and it makes the chime and just shows the white screen and refuses to work the rest of the day, the next day it always does the same thing. Then the time became shorter, 4 hours, 2 hours, 30 minutes. I was at school at the time and didn't care to mess with it so I just stored it away.
A month later I come back, turn it back on boots up perfectly within 30 seconds and works fine for an hour then repeats the previous crash like symptoms. I ask my computer friends and they suggest it's a dying hard drive - so I send that in to get replaced and pay out of my pocket. No luck. Then my friend points out that while it won't actually boot to CD if you hold "C" on boot up, if there isn't a CD there it detects that and shows the correct error... meaning the CD app just isn't loading on the RAM. Fine... I paid for a new RAM stick. Boots up, immediately crashes.
    Boot command results:
Flash P-RAM: works and sometimes allows boot.
    cmd-S: never works
    cmd-V: never works
C: worked right after I replaced the harddrive, hasn't worked since.
T: starts in target disk mode, don't have a second computer to see if drive is browsable.
Any ideas? Is it the Logic Board? Will Apple cover it since they recently replaced it or no? How much will it cost to get a new one?

    1) I already said that and I'm not complaining that it's Apple's fault, I'm trying to fix it so I can have a working computer.
    2) I'll trust people that work in IT over the pompous "omg-i-got-the-job-so-all-my-friends-will-think-im-in-the-know-on-the-iphone" high schoolers Apple hires at the local Apple store. One told me that Firefox wasn't an approved web browser when I last took it in because the Airport Express card was crap. Hence why I'm asking here where people have actually seen this problem before and recognize the symptoms instead of some kid to read from a script of troubleshooting and then charge me $120 to send it to a tech and get it checked out.
I took it to ProMac my local Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)of people who have been working with Macs for the last 15 years, and for $50 they're going to look at it and tell me what they think tomorrow, I'll post the results for anyone else having similar issues.

  • ACL-list syntax error in PIX after upgrade, need urgent help!

    Hello everyone
    We have a setup including Cisco ACS + a VPN 3005 Concentrator and a PIX 515E (7.2.4)
We upgraded the PIX version from 7.0 to 7.2.4 and suddenly our downloadable access-list was getting refused when users authenticated against the ACS.
When debuging radius in the PIX we found that entering this line in the downloadable access-list give error and stop the users of getting the ACL.
    "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255"
PIX refused to process their auth request when encountering this line.
Fine we said, we changed the ACL syntax to this : deny ip any 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0
This made the PIX process the ACL.
We were happy for awhile until VPN users started to complain.
It seems that the VPN 3005 cant deal with the syntax we entered in the PIX!
The VPN 3005 doesnt seem to be able to handle the acl line "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0" !
It can only handle "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255" !
    Which the PIX cant handle..
I'm a loss at what to do here..
We got VPN users who cant surf now with these ACL problems.
What can I do? Anyone else encountered this?
We upgraded the VPN 3005 to the lastest SW version
Really need some help here guys!
    Thanks

I don't think Cisco ever changed anything on the PIX. It uses subnet masks from day one AFAIK and VPN Conc uses wildcard masks like IOS. You can use the acl-netmask-convert command on the ASA to fix this issue. This way you define a willdcard ACL on the ACS/AAA server and then use this command on the ASA to use the same downloadable ACL for both devices (PIX,VPNC).

I NEED UPGRADE AND I already know that I should start buying snow leopard from apple , but after that how far can I go with these specifications??? I mean can I run maverick?
    Thanks.

    juliomaxter wrote:

    Yes.
You also can install up to 6 GB RAM which would be helpful running Mavericks.  The RAM specifications for you MBP are 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.  The most reliable sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
As you know, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is required for ant OSX upgrade.
    Ciao.

Used to have ios 7 betaon my i phone and downgraded to ios 6 so i can upgrade to the official ios 7 but i lost my pc back ups. Please help me

First off, Apple doesn't support downgrading and it can potentially brick your phone. With that being said, if you created a back up in iOS 7 Beta and are trying to restore it to iOS6, you wont be able to. You need to upgrade first then restore from your backup. Don't be suprised if it doesn't work. There is a very real possibilty you may have to start from scratch.

MY ipad3 running iOS 8.1 does not upgrade to 8.3. I have downloaded 8.3 but when I press install now and choose agree, nothing happens for hours. Any help?.

You are in the wrong discussion forum, but ok:
-- You say it is running 8.1 now, but your profile says 6.1.3, plse update your profile.
-- Did you download in Mac iTunes? or directly in the iPhone?
if in Mac iTunes: check the following Finder location:   Startupdisk->Homefolder (yourname)->Library->iTunes->iPadSoftwareUpdates :  the downloaded file should be there and be complete the extension should be  .ipsw, if it is not there or not complete you should download again.
if in the iPhone: notice that the install phase and verifying phase and restarting phase need (good) internet connection.

That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.
