Macbook is so hot as Macbook Pro?

I love my MacBook Pro. But it is difficult working with it, during all the day.It is too hot! After some hours, it is too hot, and my hands become unconfortable. So, I am considering to sell it and by a Macbook; yes, I know - Macbook Pro is better. But I can work with a Macbook and if it is cooler... Could anyone tell me anything about this? MacBook is coller than MacBook Pro?
Thank you, for your answers.

Hi,
(I originally posted this in anothet optic by mistake - it belongs in the heat topics)
I posted about this on Notebookforums (a great site by the way, with a growing Mac community) and thought it would be good here as well.
I am now on my second MBP, as my first one burned my hand Monday (I guess it decided to imitate a thermonuclear bomb). AppleCare and the Mac Genius at my store really stepped up, and put me into a brand new 2.16 Ghz MBP (my original was a 2Ghz) with full migration of everything accomplished in 90 minutes. Hats off to Apple for superb customer care!
Now regarding the new MBP, I have noticed already it is radically cooler and the Core Duo is at a far lower load number. The old MBP was always running at full speed, about 55% load even with no apps running and temping at around 90 C. This one is dynamically changing clockspeed as I open and close apps, runs at about 3% load with no apps open and is temping about 26C under light load and topping out around 45-50 C.
This all leads me to wonder if perhaps the root of the thermal issues is faulty motherboards? My thinking would be a faulty motherboard preventing the Core Duo from using ESS and possibly keeping it and the GPU at full speed all the time. Couple that with perhaps a flaw causing the data from the heat sensors to be misinterpreted, thus causing the fans not to run. Pure speculation, but I cannot think of another explanation for all the symptoms.

    macbook air runs hot and makes noise like processor running hard when connected to display - even when not actively using air book

    You could use the free tool iStat Pro to see what changes when you connect your MBA to the display. Without doing anything the CPU pane should show a high percentage for "Idle". If the idle value is too low, launch the Activity Monitor and sort by CPU usage. There is a pane showing the different temperatures of your computer. Watch them for a few minutes after connecting the display.

    Can I put my stock early 2011 mbp's ram into a mid 2011 macbook air?

    No. The MacBook Air's RAM isn't upgradable, except when configuring a model in the online Apple Store.

    1. The scrolling, as far as I've been able to determine, is by using the slide bar to the right of most diplays. There are no up or down arrows that allow slow movement
    2. The top and botton toolbars are not visible. The top one appears when you point the arrow to the top of the screen but the same doesn't work well if at all pointing the cursor to the bottom.
    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.
    4I was trying to installMacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3. I got message it couldn't be installed on my system.
    5. The red yellow and blue bullets that allow shutting down, minimizing and maximizing are missing on most open windows.
    Can you do something about these problems
    It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems

    1: I'm scrolling this page right now using the arrow keys.
    2: Press the escape (esc) key to exit full-screen mode. Select Apple menu > Dock > Turn Hiding Off.

    4: That's because you downloaded an update for another model.

  • Hi can anyone tell me if the macbook A1278 (5,1) is a pro??

    Hi can anyone tell me if the macbook A1278 (5,1) is a pro?

    No, it was part of the MacBook line. But in Mid 2009 the 13" Aluminum Unibody was folded into the MacBook Pro line. The difference is mainly in the ports on the left hand side.

    You can try using Screen Sharing in the Sharing preferences. Or try a third-party utility such as ScreenRecycler.

  • Macbook Air 13" 2011 vs Macbook Pro 13" for a uni student?

    Hi all,
    I am a university student studying Humanities and Psychology, so I write a LOT of essays. My other computer activities include watching movies, surfing the web, the occasional MMO (WoW and/or EVE Online) and listening to music.
    I have a 1Tb external HDD connected to my wireless so hard drive space isn't an issue.
    I am torn between the new MacBook Air 13" 256Gb, 4Gb RAM, and the 13" MacBook Pro 500Gb, 8Gb RAM.
    The cost of either isn't an issue.
    Let me know what your experiences are with either, and leave your opinion on which would be the best for me.
    Thanks.

    First off EatsRainbows, DO NOT get a new computer without a solidstate drive (SSD) it is the most important component of your computer (prorams open faster, saving is faster, transfering files is faster, everything happens fast). IMO the better screen, slightly better keyboard of the Air will be better for you. Also it wins in my hardcore comparision:
    2011 13” MacBookAir vs. 2011 13” MacBook Pro
    Both are the base models, the Pro has the optional128GB SSD to match the Air.
    Cost:
    MacBook Air - $1299
    Macbook Pro - $1449
    Winner = MacBook Air
    Screen:
    MacBook Air –  13.3” 16:10 1440x900
    Macbook Pro - 13.3” 16:10 1280x800
    Winner = MacBook Air
    CPU Performance:
    MacBook Air – i5-2557M
    Macbook Pro – i5-2410M, Single Thread 5.5% faster,Multithread 13.5% faster
    Winner = MacBook Pro
    GPUPerformance:
    MacBook Air – 384MB Intel HD 3000 (IntegratedGraphics)
    Macbook Pro - 384MB Intel HD 3000 (IntegratedGraphics)
    Winner = Tie
    Size:
    MacBook Air – 0.68 in thick max, 45.2 in^2
    Macbook Pro – 0.95 in thick max, 108.5in^2
    Winner = MacBook Air
    Weight:
    MacBook Air – 2.96 lbs
    Macbook Pro – 4.5 lbs
    Winner = MacBook Air
    BatteryLife:
    MacBook Air – 50WHr, 7 hours
    Macbook Pro – 63.5WHr, 7 hours
    Winner = Tie
    Winner:
    13.3”MacBook Air by A LOT
    So you give up slight loss in single thread speed,for something that is much heavier, much larger, and has a worse screen. Basically you would be mad to pay more for aMacBook Pro.

  • Which new Macbook to replace my 2008 Macbook Pro?

    I am about to buy a new replacement for my 5 year old 15" Macbook Pro which I have sworn by, but is slowly letting go.
    I would like someones opinion: should I replace it with the new 13 inch Macbook Air, or 13 inch Macbook Pro?
    I would use it mostly for day to day work and fun, but also professionally for basic Photoshopping, Webdesign, and less frequently heavier programs such as AutoCAD, Sketchup and rendering software, as well as Final Cut.
    I dont mind having the fastest and best of all to do this, but the system should be capable of running these apps smoothly.
    My current system does fine, so will use it as a reference point with the following specs:
    15" Macbook Pro Spring 2008 (yes, neither my keyboard nor trackpad work = lots of cables!)
    Mac Os 10.5.8
    2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    6 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
    Thanks so much for advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

    I would recommend a 15" MBP for your needs.
    Although the your applications may run adequately on the 13" MBA or 13" MBP, the lack of dedicated video GPU and dual-core vs quad-core may limit the useable life of your next MacBook.

    I have succesfully migrated my data from my 2006 MacBook to a new 2011 MacBook Pro. How do I delete ALL of my personal data from the MacBook so my girlfriend can use it to support iTunes and her iPod?

    Order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 from The Apple Store as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
    Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
    When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window.
    Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. You should see your hard drive in the left hand column along with your other drives. Click on the drive and select the Erase tab. Set the format value to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Erase button. After that has finished select the Partition tab. Type in a Name for your hard drive and select how many partitions you want from the Volume Scheme. The usual setting is one partition. Click on the Options button after you've selected a partition to make sure it's set for GUID. Then click the Apply button and after the Partitioning is done quit Disk Utility.
    You can now follow the instructions on the install screen

    My MacBook get's hot really quick and then discharge's quickly without opening any program, please help.
    I have checked the cooling fan, and it's working, and I took it to an IT technician and he said my hardware is allright, so is it a problem from the OS it self??
    OS X(10.8.5)

    Restart with the Option key held down and the Mac OS X install disk inserted, provide the firmware password, click on the DVD, press the button with the straight arrow, access the firmware settings, disable the password, and use FireWire Target Disk mode. If you can't do that or it doesn't work, contact Apple.

    Hey, My father moved from an old macbook to the new retina macbook pro about 2 months back. Now as he is a business man he requires all his emails from his old mac onto the new macbook. The problem is to integrate his old mail data with 2 months of his current mail data.
    All the instructions i have yet found online only seem to be for a new macbook where all the mail data and preferences could be transfered.

  • Put old MacBook hard drive in new MacBook pro?

    Hi,
    I just upgraded from my one-year-old MacBook (10.5) to a MacBook pro. I had upgraded to a 500-gig hard drive on the original MacBook, and I'd like to move it into the new MacBook pro. If I move it in as is, without wiping/reinstalling, will I be okay? Will it have the correct device drivers? If not, what is the best way to "migrate" the hard drive to the new MacBook pro while keeping all the same settings?

    Make a bootable clone on an external hard drive of the Macbook drive that you intend to move. Boot the Macbook to the clone to verify that the clone is good.
    Move the MacBook drive into the MacBook Pro and boot the MBP to the Leopard installer disc that came with it. Use Disk Utility to erase the drive, then use the MBP's installer discs to perform a standard installation of all the software that was on the MBP's factory hard drive when you received it. Apply the free downloadable OS X 10.5.7 update. Then use Migration Assistant to migrate all your personal data and settings from the clone on the external drive.
    If you're going to use the factory drive from the MBP in the MacBook, install it in that machine. Boot the MacBook to the clone on the external drive, and clone the clone onto the drive into the Macbook.
    This procedure will assure that each machine is equipped with all the right drivers to support its particular hardware configuration.

  • My macbook gets really hot and has other problems

    Hi,
    I bought the new MacBook Air 13inch two months ago towards the end of February, and there are serious problems with my mac.
    First of all, I haven't dropped, spilled water, or did anything wrong to my MacBook Air. There aren't even any scratches.
    But whenever I use it, the space above the keyboard and a little of the back of the macbook gets really really hot, to the point where it burns my fingers when I touch it. I always use my macbook on a flat surface, and never use it on my bed or anything.
    Also, today the fan or ventilation got really noisy, from the top and bottom. The whole macbook was vibrating because of the fan noise.
    And sometimes, my macbook air will stop playing sound. For example, when I'm watching a video or playing music, the sound will suddenly stop and will never come back on until I restart my macbook.
    Even now as I'm typing this, the macbook is really hot and I'm very worried it might suddenly break.
    I thought of getting it fixed, but the thing is:
    I have bought this macbook in another country, and right now I am not living in that country (I moved to a different country). Will I be able to get my macbook fixed here?
    If not, what can I do to make this all stop? Or what is it that I'm doing wrong that keeps making all this happen? (I watch movies and tv shows a lot, but everyone else that I know of do too, so...)
    Please help ASAP!!

    Yes. Apple warranty coverage is international.
    Try resetting SMC.
