Macbook is stuck loading iCloud after system update

I updated my computer last night and after it rebooted iCloud asked me for my password. After trying to enter it several times I ended up clicking "forgot password", ever since it has been stuck on the loading screen. I have tried to force close but nothing happens. I even tried to let it die to see if it would start the process over, but it's still on the loading screen.

Hello, keenjellybean.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.

  • MacBook Pro stuck on bluescreen after security update, help?

Hello, I have downloaded the latest security update and my MacBook has been stuck on this blue screen with a little download wheel at the bottom of the screen for about seven hours now. What should I do?

Force a safe boot by pressing and holding the power button until the machine shuts down, then pressing it again briefly. Hold down the shift key at the chime and release it when the gray Apple logo appears. If you're able to log in, just reboot as usual. If you can't log in in safe mode, boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup) and reinstall the Mac OS.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Lack of 3g after system update

    Hello :-)
It's problem with Xperia E dual
Few days ago I updated the system to the 4.1.1 version (compilation 11.3.A.1.39).
Unfortunatelly after updating I've discovered that smartphone don't works with 3G. On the display I've only icon "E". Before updating there was typically "H". Of course now the transfer is slower than before and of course I'm not happy of that.
I try to solve this problem - choose in menu list of available provider and... there are only 2G nets. Because I've functioning still in the same place of live and the problem has occured after the updating I'm sure that it's strictly connected.
Is there any solution for that?
Another problem is with trying to call. After system updating typically twice a day I have to restart smartphone because it's totally hanged. No one can connect with me and I can't call to anybody. Smartphone looks normally and doesn't give any siglan that something is wrong. But when I try to connect to somebody I direst the number and... there is no signal at all. After few seconds telephon return to main menu. There is also no record about this trial of connection in the list of done connections. It's very uncomfortable situation.
Sure, there are also some adventages with the system updating but problems mentioned above are really annoing.
Have you any solutions for it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Solved!

Hi, try repairing phone software with PC Companion or Update Service.
    http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
    http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
Be aware that this will erase phone data completely, backup if necessary.
Before proceeding with software repair, confirm with your Network Operator that there is nothing wrong with the network. Also, remove and reinsert SIM card and try again (have a close look at the contact surface, ensure that it is relatively clean).
Don't forget to mark correct answer as Accepted Solution.

  • After System Update keyboard doesn't work -MacBook

Here is what happened and I was able to fix, someway... but not definetly.
I updated to Snow Leopard and everything was fine. After I launched System Update to finish the update, I installed a few ones then I rebooted.
At the login I realized that some of the keys didn't work anymore. Namely
    0 = P ] ; \ / ENTER
    those what I found.
With the help of the virtual keyboard I was able to take a look at the log and I noticed that the /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHIDKeyboard.kext was updated just before the last working configuration...
Luckily I had a bootable backup of the system before Snow Leopard, so I boot from the external USB drive and copied the old AppleHIDKeyboard.kext in place of the new one, that I saved with .bak extension.
I rebooted and the keyboard was properly working again.
I think my fix is "dirty". I experienced some slowdowns here and there and I found a log message stating:
com.apple.kextcache[271] AppleHIDKeyboard.kext does not declare a kernel dependency; using com.apple.kernel.6.0.
I'm wondering why the keyboard stopped working and if there is a better way to fix it.
    Any comment? (Please)

    <END OF LOGS>

It is never a good idea to mix system components like kext's from different OS X versions. If you right-click on for instance the AppleHIDKeyboard.kext & choose "Show contents" you will see that it is a bundle composed of many individual files. Many of these files contain information about files in other OS bundles. Similarly, other OS bundles may contain info about the files in this bundle. This tells the OS what +set of files+ it can & can't use for various functions.
IOW, kext's are not self-contained, functionally independent items. When you replace one with one from a different OS version, its info about other files usually won't be right. This can & very often does cause problems. Some are minor but others can cause progressively greater problems, eventually damaging the OS enough that it becomes inoperative.
So, your fix is almost certainly "dirty."
It's also not addressing the source of the problem. There is nothing wrong with Snow Leopard's AppleHIDKeyboard.kext file (version 1.2.0). Snow Leopard works perfectly well with my & thousands of other users' MacBooks. The cause of your problem could be many things, but this is not one of them. If you can accept that, there are several things you can do to find the cause, starting with running the Apple Hardware Test to see if it finds up any problems with your MacBook.

  • Stuck in GRUB (S)Hell after system update

So, I did a system update, which involved the manual steps to relocate binaries, which I did. Update completed successfully but ever since my machine boots into GRUB shell and I cannot boot the Arch image. I run dual boot with Arch64/Win7 and can boot Win7 just fine using
    root (hd0,0)
    chainloader +1
    boot
but if I try to boot arch using the same sequence
    root (hd0,3)
    chainloader +1
    boot
It just sits on a message telling me it is starting up, but nothing happens...
    Thoughts?

Yes, you can. He updated the system and when he rebooted he was stuck at the grub shell unable to boot.
First to boot you should try this:
find /boot/grub/stage1 //use this to determine your boot disk and partition
root (hd0,3) //replace 0 and 3 by the numbers determined above
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda4 //replace 4 by the partition number (+1)
    initrd /boot/initramfs-linux.img
    boot
If everything went right the system will boot, then you can rename /boot/grub/menu.lst.pacsave to /boot/grub/menu.lst:
    mv /boot/grub/menu.lst.pacsave /boot/grub/menu.lst
or fix grub2 by following the last part of this post:

  • Unable to login after system update

I recently installed arch in my lenova laptop. Installation went fine and I updated my system then. Finally I had a kernel 3.4.4-2 and rebooted.
After rebooting, I got the login screen (tty1) . I had not created an user yet. So had to login as root.
So When I enter the username as root and click enter , the password credential request is not getting loaded. After a space of 10 seconds, I am again redirected to login request.
I have never had this issue and I have been using arch for the past 8 months. Please advice

I am still stuck. The other thread that I mentioned was dicussing about adding hook to mkinitcpio because /usr was in a separate partition. That is not the case in my problem.
I rushed to close this thread before resolving my issue. the issue is still persisting. I could not login to the machine at all. And my partitions are as listed below
    sda1 - /
    sda5 - /home
    sda6 - /opt
    sda7 - /var/cache
    sda8 - swapspace
Again, I couldnot login once after updating the system. I could login before. Please advice

  • BannerMaker not working after system update.

    Hello all,
I am not trusting Apple now for system updates anymore, because the last couple of updates, after updating my system software, I have problems. I never have these issues with Windows.
Getting to my point, I use BannerMaker (an app created by some Fed agency that I had found googling because Apple doesn't support it as standard, and Windows already had this for years to comply with DOD requirements) to use for a login warning legal note, etc. This goes on to the login window only when you disable the icon/name login. I was in the process of updating it and it told me that the loginwindow.plist wasn't found. I found it on the Spotlight, but I had no way of changing it.
I should also note that after the system update, the login process reverted back to the icon/name login, which never happened. I always require me and another user to type their username because to protect the user's privacy.
How can I get BannerMaker to work again, or how can I get into that file so I can change it and I also want to know if other users had their loginwindow settings mysteriously affected by the update?
I am really disappointed by the lousy updates that paralyzes my security and other issues with previous updates, which I won't get into. I am disappointed with Apple right now.
    Steven

I had a feeling that was going to happen. Well I just don't have the patience to do that. Apple needs to go onto the Windows system that you could delete specific updates rather than reinstalling the system software. And I also don't like how updates affect work around apps, how they close them down because they are not authorized software. I need a secure system, and Apple won't let me. **** to screw with them, I might just give my mother my MacBook and I go get a Windows notebook. I had nothing but problems since I got this MacBook.

  • MacBook Pro Won't Boot after Firmware Update

So I just upgraded to a MacBook Pro which came in the mail yesterday. I removed the Apple-installed HD and swapped it out for a bigger, faster HD. I installed OS X from scratch, imported everything from my Time Machine backup during the Setup Assistant, and then started installing updates. Everything was running swimmingly until the last updates.
What happened is when I rebooted my MacBook Pro and logged in after a series of updates, I got presented with both a Bluetooth update and a Firmware update at the same time. Both required a restart so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone. I installed the Bluetooth update, and then when it asked to reset I installed the Firmware update instead. However, the firmware update didn't behave as advertised because instead of shutting the MacBook Pro completely down, it restarted and then started installing the firmware update.
Ever since the firmware update (which I think installed correctly but don't know how to verify), I cannot boot my MacBook Pro. Using the OS X install DVD I can view my firmware version using System Profiler, and the number it is reporting is MBP53.00A.B03.
I have tried booting in verbose mode to try and get a feel for the problem, and it eventually hangs on an infinite loop saying something about not being able to find something on disk0s2.
I also thought I would fix the problem by doing an Archive and Install, but it quit at the very beginning of installing with the error "unknown error".
Also I thought I would format the disk with Disk Utility and then try installing again, but Disk Utility reports that it in unable to unmount the volume.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    -- Update --
Remember how I'm unable to unmount the drive? I force unmounted it and then used Disk Utility to repair the volume, but still no luck.
I think the key to the problem is this new HD I put in runs at 3 Gbps. I think I read somewhere that the new MacBook Pro's don't support that.
I think next I should try swapping out the new HD in my MacBook Pro with the one it originally came with. What do you think?

I, too, have a brand new MBP 15" that I put an Intel X25 in. At the 1.5 (Prior to Firmware Update) setting, it worked fine. I rant the Firmware Update, all looked fine, but the drive is no longer able to be seen.
Flash the PRAM, per other suggestions to no avail. Boot off of the DVD and disk utility nor Profiler sees the drive.
Replace the drive with the stock that came with the MBP (which I had never even used) and it works.
Put the Intel X25 into a Windows machine and it works fine. Reformatted it (in windows) and put it back into my MBP. Still not able to see it (from the Disk utility after booting off the DVD).
Intel's firmware for the drive says its up-to-date (new drive) and if I attempt to "re-run" the Mac Firmware Update, it says that the machine is already up-to-date.
Seems odd that it worked before an now it doesn't. Also seems odd that the X25 works in other machines. And that my MBP works just fine with the stock Hitachi 7200 320GB drive.
Ideas? Intel says to call Apple Support. Not sure what I can say to them.

  • Can't boot after system update: unknown filesystem type

After running a system update, including updating the kernel, I can't boot to the new kernel.
On booting, grub loads the kernel image, runs/loads udev, but then fails to mount the root partition with error:
    mount: unknown filesystem type 'ext4'
I have tried reinstalling the 'linux' package via packman several times, also trying the --recursive argument to make sure all my dependencies were there, and after days of googling and tweaking my system, I'm at a loss.
Thank goodness I happened to keep a spare kernel laying around in /boot.
    Thanks in advance.

The OP can read their partition initially though, it's only after udev that they can't.
Also, try adding "rootfstype=ext4" to your grub kernel line. Is your /boot on a separate partition or part of your / partition?
