MacBook is too big!

I do like small laptops and I really think my next one will be a small one by Apple. I was very interested when I read about the new MacBook.
When I read about the size though, I was a bit disappointed: Width: 12.78 inches (32.5 cm)
My current laptop with 15 inch screen (visible) only has a width of 32.9cm (12.95 inches). So I have to give up 1.7 inches in display size (15-13.3) and gain virtually nothing in laptop-width?
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Yeah, they're not quite as small as the previous-generation 12" PowerBooks, but I actually really like the size. Here are some photos comparing it to other laptops: (scroll down on the last two links)

After identifying the exact connectors you need, check the Apple Store online and/or eBay...you should be able to buy a cable with the correct connector on each end, rather than fooling with an adapter.

My itunes window is too big for my macbook pro screen. Itunes 11.0.2, macbook 10.8.3. How can I make it fit?

Click here and use one of the scripts to change the size of the window. This works with applications other than iTunes as well.

I took a video on my iPhone and tried to email it it said it was too big to send? So i downloaded it to my macbook pro and tried to mail it to no avail? The macbook tells me the server won't let it through other mail goes through any ideas how to resize it or what it might take to send it?

I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

  • MacBook Pro Retina - Images in PS look great, but when uploaded to web too big and distorted

Part of the reason I hated using my Mac for graphic and web design is that when I create images in adobe photoshop everything looks amazing. However, when I upload them to the web, they are way too big and look distorted, this includes text.
I'm trying to make a text logo with a transparent background. When I create it in photoshop the size I want it looks fine and clear, but once it's uploaded to the web it looks way too big and the font is blurred. How can I fix this? I use the Adobe Cloud, so I have the latest version.

No sir, I'm still trying to figure out how to fix it
Here is what it looks like in photoshop :
then to see what it looks like in the browser, go to http://enigmadesigns.boards.net
This preview in the thread was taken with my cell phone as I don't know how to screenshot on  a Mac yet LOL

  • Is The 27 imac too big?

I am about to add an iMac to my collection and was wondering if anyone that has the 27" iMac feel that it is too big?
Right now I have my Macbook Air connected to an external 22" monitor using dual screens. I also do this with my Macbook Pro as well.
I like to be able to have most of my main web browsing, emails, doing screenflow videos etc all on the 22" monitor and then I just have my notes, skype chat box, webinar control bar (if doing a webinar) etc on the laptop monitor.
If I get the 27" iMac will I not need to use 2 monitors?
It would be hard to imagine still only using 1 monitor and thats why I was thinking of just getting the 21.5" iMac and still using my 22" monitor for dual screens. Mainly because when I use screenflow to record something I can have my notes and if using keynote my next slide lined up to show me what to talk about next.
Any suggestions, ideas, tips, and advice would be great from those of you that have been doing anything similar with either the 21.5" or 27" iMac.
    Thanks

Thanks Sue and I am loving my new iMac it really is awesome!
I cant believe I waited this long to pick one up. I should have done it a long time ago.
Here is a pic of my setup.
You can see the 27" iMac on the left and my 22" monitor on the right. Man... I love have too big screens to work off.
Using the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 which rocks and can work in the dark for at least 3 months. No need for batteries!
And the Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 which can run up to 3 years on one set of batteries.
Also have the Bose Companion 2 Series II multimedia speaker system which I love!
You can also see 2 of my external hard drives on the left side.
Behind the iMac I have to hide my Blue Yeti microphone from my 2 year old or he will grab it and slobber all over it...lol
But I just ordered the Rhode swivel stand and Blue shockmount so that I can attach it to my desk and should be set up in the next few days.

  • HT6114 The update is too big to download at once.Repeatedly I failed to download due to the low internet speeds.Any other way to download in patches and group them later.

The Apple Store indicates one update is available for my MacBook Pro OS X Maverick v10.9.2.But,the same is already shown as installed on 26 April thereitself at the bottom of the APP store. But,i remember it was not fully downloaded then and it was cancelled. The update is too big and due to low internet speeds here,we are finding difficult to download. Can it be downloaded in patches. How?

The only thing you can do is pause the download. There is no way to divide it into pieces.

  • Photos too big for desktop

I could always just choose a photo to use as a desktop and it would work fine. Now they all seem to display at full resolution meaning that I only get a small segment of the picture. I have tried cropping to the display dimensions but it is still too big. What can I do? This is on my Macbook 2.16.
    Andy

    Hi,
I think what you need to do is bring your image into Photoshop. Select > Image Size > Choose 72 PPI which is a good size for the internet. Now go to File> Save For Web. In there it will give you options on how to optimize your image for the web. Just save it as a Jpeg if you want and then import into Flash library.
    Hope this helps!

  • Is an 8.7GB file too big to import into iMovie 9?

Is an 8.7GB file too big to import into iMovie 9?  I am using iMovie 8.0.6 on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.6.8 on 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB Memory.  I can't get my movie file to import into iMovie...any advice would be much appreciated!

When you import into iMovie, your video is converted into DV format. This uses 13 GB per hour of video. So the first thing you have to do is make sure you have 26 GB free on your hard drive, plus another 10GB free for OSX to perform, plus 10GB free if you plan on burning a DVD.
iMovie has non-destructive editing. If you have used any part of a clip and discard the rest, that entire clip is still saved in your project - unused but eating up disc space. If you use no part of a clip and discard the clip, then the clip can go in the trash and you get back disc space. So...
If you import 2 hours of video (26GB) as one clip, and only use 2 minutes, your 2-minute segment retains its 2-hr source in memory. 2 min = 26 GB.
One thing you can do is set the iMovie preferences to automatically create new clips every 3 minutes. (2 hours of 3-min clips = 40 clips.) This allows you to find the 2-minute segment you want and delete all of the unused clips. Say your 2-minute segment comes from 2 of these 3-min clips, so you keep 6 minutes of source footage and delete the rest. Clips that are entirely unused will be completely deleted and give you back disc space. At .65 GB per clip, your 6-minute project is now only 1.3 GB, and you've just regained 24.7 GB of disc space.

  • MacPro - Desktop screensize too big.  How can I resize it (sys pref resolution doesn't work).

I have an iMac and am using a Macbook Pro.  The desktop screensize is way too big for the screen.  The top toolbar and bottom icons can only be viewed by moving the screen around.  SysPrefs resolution (and text resizing) doesn't do a thing.  Any suggestions from anyone?  (Both products are a few months to a year old).
    Thanks!

Hold down Control and scroll down with the mouse or trackpad.

Edit: Your screen is zoomed, this will unzoom it.

  • Scanning: The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type.

    Good Day.
I have recently discovered an issue with scanning.  I have tried scanning straight from the printer, through image capture, and through preview.  All yeilding the same results since they are essentailly kicking off the same scanning applet.  I can scan a jpeg formatted file as long as I applet is in the "Hide Details" mode.  If I click on the "Show Details" button, which I need to do to scan to PDF, I immediately receive an error stating: The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type.
I'm currently using an HP C5180 printer.   The most recently installed software was Adobe Digital Editions (I installed this to read an on-line e-book).  Not sure if there is any correlation.    Thanks for any help.

    Hello Sig
The scanner works with a Windows computer, which proves the device is functional at a cursory level. The drivers are now distributed by Apple and this is an Apple computer. There is no scanning software provided by HP. HP's answer is that Mountain Lion takes care of all of this.  I anticipate that some setting or driver was somehow tweaked since the scanner had been working with Mountain Lion until a few days ago.  The device in question is an Apple product. So, I'm pretty confident that I'm in the right place.

  • Display is too big for screen on start up

When I turn on my macbook, the disply is too big, and I can't see the right 3 inches of my screen.  When I put it to sleep and bring it back up, it correctly fits on the disply.  Any ideas why this does this, and how to correct it? It has been doing this several months now.
    -Thanks!

Ha, figured it out myself from another discussion forum finally. Thoght I'd share in case anyone else runs into this. They must have hit "Zoom" by htting the "Control" and scroll buttons at the same time..
    Resolution:
You can zoom out by holding down the Option and Command buttons on the keyboard and, while you hold them down, pressing the - key.

  • Sharp 26 inch HDTV too big for TiBook?

I have a Sharp 26 inch LCD HDTV. I am running DVI output from the 667 TiBook into the HDMI video input. It works OK, but the margins of the video are hidden under the edges of the LCD. So for example, I can only see about 1/4 of the Dock because the rest is hidden. As a result, I can only run it as a second monitor.
What's causing it? Is the screen too big for the TiBook's video driver?

    http://support.apple.com/specs/macbook/macbookmid2007.html
"...Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors..."
What is the max resolution of the HDTV? You should consider the Apple mini-DVI to DVI adapter and use a DVI-HDMI cable if your HDTV has an HDMI or DVI input, generally the digital signal might be better quality than the VGA analog signal.
You want to be able to match the native resolution of the monitor for best quality. When you use a different resolution, it may be supported but not appear as sharp. It might be hard to get good text quality on that large a monitor, but images and video might work okay.
If you want, you can also run an audio cable from the MacBook lineout to use the TV or your stereo speakers.
