Each browser works a little differently.  Check your browser Preferences (COMMAND ,( and look for an option that allows you to 'block pop-up widows'.  This will not totally eliminate them, but will minimize them.  This is from my primary browser, Firefox:

hey,
ive also downloaded the easyfind app but it dont seem to find the pop up anywhere on my mac, but its defiently there everytime i click on something.
There is nothing to search for in ths case.  It is a function of the web site.
since deleting google chrome it hasnt popped up but im worried if i reinstall it back it will appear? is this common?
It may, but to a limited extent if your follow my suggestion and 'block pop-up windows,.  It is common in that it is not unusual.

  • How do i disable a java script error that pops up everytime i click on something?

java script error Error: Permission denied to access property 'host'
this continues to come up every time i click on something. this has only started since i downloaded firefox 4.0. how do i disable the pop up or do i just stop using 4.0? would go back to the last version but when i try to download that i'm told the files are corrupted

Create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

  • I have pop up windows popping up everytime I click on something and I want to know how to stop it.

In the last few weeks when I click on something a pop-up window pops up. I have to click to close it and re-click on what I want. If I have opened Firefox and click on say open Facebook the pop-up comes up and I close it and then click on Facebook again to open it. If I'm in Pogo and click on a game a pop-up Pops up and I have to close it and click on a game again. The BLUE line at the top of the pop-up windows always has Firefox on it. It does this in any thing that is on line.
Is there a way to stop this I'm ready to change from Firefox to something else if it I can get it to stop.

MPlayerX isn't itself the problem; it was downloaded from a source that packaged adware with it. Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, run Adware Medic.

  • Firefox is freezing everytime I click on something no matter the page.

It doesn't matter what website I am using everytime I click on something, it loads the page correctly and then says (not responding) for 2 to 3 minutes. It hasn't crashed so far, but I am not a big fan of waiting.

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • Spinning wheel everytime I click on something. Help?!

I'm trying to update my software to OS X 10.6.4 to download iTunes version 9.2 so I can update my iPhone 3gs to ios4. My macbook pro is running so slow, that whenever I click on something the spinning wheel comes up and basically freezes my computer for an insane amount of time before I can continue. So, thus I've tried downloading different updates separately and it will not work.
It was working fine until last night when I tried to update with all of the available updates at once and when I turned it on after THAT failed, it has being doing this. Even now if I try to install the updates separately the spinning wheel comes up! is very frustrating. I'll take any help. Thanks.

  • Everytime I click on something in Firefox I get system23/yehmyv.dll not valid windows image. What do I do?

I tried updating Firefox but still get the same message. When I used Explorer (YUCK) I did not get the message even though I went to some of the same sites. The entire message reads: DLL C:/WINDOWS/system32/yehmyv.dll (should be back slashes) If I click ok it goes away but comes back almost everytime I click on a link. I can work with it but it is annoying and I'm worried about potential problems cropping up. I ran spyware and checked my firewall. Don't know what to do next

Also do a malware check with some malware scan programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.<br />

  • Why do i keep getting pop ups?

everytime i click on something i keep getting pops up on a mac keeper with a little robot or just other junk how do i stop this?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

I do not want a tab to open everytime i click on something on a page. I end up having 20 tabs open at once. Is there a way I can turn this off so that my page will just switch to the new page.

You can override how links are opened via the browser.link.open_newwindow pref

    *1: current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab;

  • I keep trying to download my photos to my MacBook Pro, when I insert my disc I get this response: You inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click Ignore. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have been trying to download photo's from a CD onto my MacBook pro but when I insert the disc I get this box that pops up onto my screen:  You inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click Ignore. Is there a way to fix this so I can use my photo's?

Bummer. Could be a problem with the MBP drive. Are you using Re-writable discs maybe?
Check the discs work in your HP machine. They may have burnt but not successfully. Your HP machine may not be able to open them either.
Have you considered using a USB flash device to transfer the photos, or just copy them over your home network? CD is a slow an cumbersome method.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*the Plugin version for Firefox and most other browsers
*the ActiveX version only for IE (see: [[ActiveX]])
*When updating, you need to update '''both'''
You do not have the Plugin version installed for Firefox. Look for "Shockwave Flash" in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
#'''Install the [[Managing the Flash plugin|Flash]] plugin''' to the latest version.
#*Download and SAVE to your Desktop so you can find the installer later
#*If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the "'''Download and information'''" or "'''Download Manual installers'''" below
#*After download is complete, exit Firefox
#*Click on the installer you just downloaded and install
#**Windows 7 and Vista: may need to right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator"
#*Start Firefox and check your version again or test the installation by going back to the download link below
