Macbook keeps restarting after ram and mountain lion upgrade
I installed an 8gb ram from OWC to my macbook (late 2008 aluminum body model) and upgraded to mountain lion after having leopard for years. I decided to erase the hard disk completely and upgrade to snow leopard and then download the mountain lion software. I had installed the new 8Gb ram on leopard before any of the two upgrades. Ever since I had the upgrade the computer restarts randomly and takes me to a grey screen saying than an error ocurred. It mostly happens when watching netflix or any other type of streaming video. I tried using chrome and firefox and it only helped for a little bit. I had to take my macbook to my local apple store to get it checked and apparently the ram was not positioned correctly. After they "positioned correctly" the computer worked fine. But now a few hours later I'm back at my apartment and the computer keeps restarting. Please help me with the issue.

My Mac Pro keep restarting after install OSX Mountain Lion!
I had start up errors, took forever to start they keep restarting again and again.
How can I fix this problems?
Thx!!smc reset
fixes (should fix) random shut downs and sleep

it is not that, then an app may be crashing causing the OS to crash and then you may have a setting that restarts your computer should it crash.
You might also want to attempt a reinstall from the recovery partition
To get to the recovery partition restart your computer, hold CMD+R down when you hear the boot up chime. Open Disk Utility first (verify your boot disk and repair if needed) and then close it and reinstall ML. -
Will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
hi there guys,
will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
I'm not sure if my machine is 64 bit - it is the current model base mac mini.
Many thanks for any help you can offer !
SimonSkiJumptoes is right. 4GB is not enough to comfortably run Logic X.
Your Mac Mini will need DDR3 SODIMM RAM. That website seems incredibly steep though. I guess that's the price of finding it for you. You're better off going to any below:

I updated my operating system on MBP (mid 2010) to Mountain Lion 10.8.3. I am starting to regret it! It takes forever to boot up and shut down, it keeps crashing every time my husband tries to go on his work email system (he's about to chuck my MBP out the window!) and also does it to me randomly. The MBP runs very SLOW.
What's up? Do I need to bring to Genius Bar or can it be resolved here?
Thanks!Hi - I have the smae problem. Suddenly crashes - MBP 15, new HD with Mountain Lion.

This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps. -

Why does my macbook keep crashing after login and sleep mode?
For some time I've experienced my MacBook restart shortly after turning it on or awakening it from sleep. Today it did it repeatedly several times.
Anyone knows why?

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
Anyone having issues with MacBook Pro2,2 with sleep and Mountain Lion?
Since installing Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro (2,2, June 2007), I am unable to put my machine to sleep. I close cover and the fan keeps running.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?Scroll through this board to see the varied problems with ML, I don't think Apple even bothered to test Logic with ML, many problems with interface freeze/lag, also some problems with audio stuttering. Don't know how much longer Snow Leopard will be supported but I'm staying there as long as possible. Sorry I don't have better news.

Logic Pro slow after SSD and mountain lion update.
1 week ago i was mixing a project of 90 tracks, and every run really well, no "system overloads" at all.
Sometimes the 320gb 5400rpm HDD give away a message that it was running a little slow and had a hard time dealing with all the 90 tracks, but it still work'd well.
3 days ago i installed a new samsung 830 256GB SSD and updated from lion to mountain lion and wow!
Everything is really fast, except logic pro.
Im now running a project with only 35 audio tracks with EQ,compressor and 2 busses with reverb.
It should work fine, SSD with 2,3 dualcore i5 cpu and 8gb ram but no, i am only able to play a quarter of a secound before i get the anoying "system overload" message....
Does somebody know what could be wrong? Mixing is my job soo this is a real problem for me.
Thanks! Are you getting sudden motion sensor related stops? It may be best to tern your SMS off, as there is no need for SMS in a drive with no moving parts.
They would look like the error here
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3806031?start=0&tstart=0
if there is no mention of the SMS I wouldn't bother although, no harm would be done if you did anyway.
You disable SMS by doing the following:
Launch Terminal
Type the following at the command line: sudo pmset -a sms 0
Hit return and enter your password -
Constant screen refresh when restarting after installation of mountain lion
I've just installed mountain lion . When it restarts I get the main screen then it has a green tint then reddish then refreshes and starts all over again. I left it on all night ant it was still doing the same in the morning.
Restarted in safe mode, disc is fine showing no errors.
I have re-installed lion using time machine and all is well.
Any help would be greatly appreciatedDon't quote me on this, but I think that the rules may have changed for Mountain Lion and you may need either 2 matching pairs or at least matching modules installed in both bottom slots.
as per > iMac: How to remove or install memory
Additional notes i5 and i7 Quad Core iMac computers come with both top memory slots populated. These computers will not start up if only a single DIMM is installed in any bottom slot; these computers should operate normally with a single DIMM installed in any top slot. Core Duo iMac computers should operate normally with a single DIMM installed in any slot, top or bottom. ("Top" and "bottom" slots refer to the orientation of the slots in the pictures below. "Top" refers to the slots closest to the display; "bottom" refers to the slots closest to the stand). -
I had no problems scanning from the Epson Artisan 730 all in one until I upgraded my Powermac G5 to a mid-2010 Mac Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8. The printer is installed with most recent drivers from Epson (the install disk will not work on 10.8 anyway). I can scan directly from the Print and Scan system preference under the scan tab of the printer and it prints fine from Acrobat. When I go to Document -> Scan to PDF, it brings up a dialog box in which the first input is box is Scanner: "Please select a device" with up and down arrows on the right. When I click on the up and down arrows, there are no selection options other that "Please select a device" with a check mark next to it. This printer is wireless, as is another Canon which also has a scanner and neither appear as available. Very frustrating. I have repeated the instalation process (for the Epson downloaded driver utilities) and it just is not seen.
If anyone has any workarounds or solutions, I would be grateful.1strail wrote:
Of course now I have a red badge on the App Store that is asking me to update the Epson driver. I wonder if that will blow out the TWAIN driver. It's epson14333.dmg.
No. Your TWAIN drivers are separate than the Image Capture Device drivers that would be installed by the printer driver update.
Also, no way of getting rid of the badge notification in system preferences. App store is not listed.
There is no law that you must update software just because it is available. There is no way to get rid of the red badge, but you don't have to do the upgrade. -
Why is my macbook running slower after loading OSX mountain lion?
Just downloaded OSX Mountain Lion a few weeks ago and my laptop seems to be running slower - delayed window filling, etc. Anyone else notice this problem or have any solutions? Should I just go in to see a genius?
TIA,
ddhallFirst, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
One possible cause of a slow user interface is a large number of image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons. If you have more than a dozen or so such files, move them to another folder.
Otherwise, take these steps when you notice the slowdown.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Select the 50 or so most recent messages in the log. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -

Macbook keeps breaking after reformat and reinstall
Safari will quit working and then when restarted it won't open any pages that had been open when it broke. And then the computer will not restart, when forced off it will only reboot in safe mode. The computer was reformatted and the operating system was reinstalled several times and each time it will work for a day or so and then break again.
